The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 661: Chapter 661: Nathalie: I Don’t Ask for Much From Strangers_1

Nathalie Quinlan quickly raised her head and glanced his way, unable to discern how he knew she had just overheard their conversation outside, but she didn’t take it to heart, merely saying, ”It doesn’t matter, I don’t have high expectations for strangers.”

Strictly speaking, Wallace Radcliff had only met her once, which was yesterday when she had lent a helping hand; their relationship couldn’t even be classified as acquaintances, much less friends.

Wallace Radcliff reasonably doubted her for a moment, but she didn’t take it seriously.

Amadeus Yancey could tell what she was thinking just by looking at her reaction and felt a bit of regret. Actually, Wallace Radcliff, being a robust man with a decent personality, was a friend worth making, but since Nathalie Quinlan wasn’t interested, he let the matter be.

He was just about to find another topic.

The girl had already walked to his bedside, placed the insulated container on the nightstand beside his bed, and returned, pulling up a chair to sit beside the bed, and reached out her hand, her eyes delicate and outstanding as she looked down, her lashes raven black: ”Give me your hand, I’ll help you check your pulse.”

Amadeus Yancey, looking at her alluring face so close within reach, silently put down the work he was busy with and obediently extended his left wrist.

”How do you feel today?” Nathalie Quinlan placed two slender white fingers on his pulse, her eyes half-closed, a look of not having woken up fully, and to an unaware onlooker, it would seem like she was just messing around, but the two grown men in the hospital room, whether it was Amadeus Yancey or Alfred Garland, were well aware of Nathalie Quinlan’s capabilities. They knew she usually appeared indifferent to everything, but in reality, her heart was as clear as a mirror, and she knew the score.

Amadeus Yancey could only feel the girl’s soft fingertips on his wrist, the body temperature having a certain difference from his, slightly cool. There was a soft itchy feeling in his heart, preventing him from calming down, his line of sight never shifted, always landing on the girl who leaned there at will, lips slightly raised, still in the mood to joke, ”Alright, I won’t die.”

This tone was casual and laughed.

It was particularly enticing.

Nathalie Quinlan raised her eyes, glanced at him, withdrew her two fingers, and said indifferently, ”If you don’t take good care of yourself, it’s not certain.”

Amadeus Yancey: ...

Her pitch-black eyes fell on the laptop sitting on the small table. She stood up, slipped her hands into her pockets, and said with a roguish air, ”I don’t want to see you pass away young. So, it’s best you take care to rest when you should. Work is forever endless, but you only have one body.”

Amadeus Yancey raised his hand, pinched the bridge of his nose, and laughed rather helplessly. That morning, Wallace Radcliff had sorted out the subsequent work piled up at The Ninth Institute and handed it to him for review. He couldn’t just ignore it and had to help look over it. As a result, he was accused of heading towards an early grave...

But he knew Nathalie Quinlan was just speaking in jest. If she really wanted him to die young, she wouldn’t have come to the hospital so early to see him, nor would she have brought him things or checked his pulse.

So he arched his eyebrows, his eyes sharp at the corners. His deep eyes, however, were full of graceful laughter, his voice dropping a notch, quite hoarse, as he said, ”Concerned about me?”

Alfred Garland, a grown man, could tell Amadeus was flirting with Ms. Quinlan!

He sneaked a glance at the distinguished man leaning on the hospital bed, then at her appealing face, and silently revised his thoughts in his heart.

No, this wasn’t flirting. To be precise, it should be called seducing!

He was eager to see Nathalie Quinlan’s reaction.

Nathalie Quinlan first furrowed her brows, then uncomfortably raised her hand to pull her hat brim down. After pulling it down, she pressed her lips tightly together, suddenly looked up, her clear and bright eyes looking over, and replied, ”We are good friends. Shouldn’t I be concerned about you?”
