The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 652: Chapter 652: The President of Tsinghua University Visits McKinney Personally_1

Ghania Quinlan craned her neck, peering anxiously into the distance, yet there was no sign of Derliand Gober for a long time. She couldn’t help but lower her voice to ask, ”Aunt Ivy, why hasn’t Professor Derliand come out yet?”

Ivy Wilmar, however, was quite composed, holding the bouquet with an expressionless face. She replied to her, ”What’s the rush, there are still people who haven’t come out. Professor Gober might be walking at the back.”

”...” On hearing this, Ghania once again turned her head towards the entrance, with concern she couldn’t hide in her eyes.

Adelia Tucker had already confirmed her absence. If Professor Derliand also stood her up, her university acceptance banquet would somehow seem inappropriate.

Fortunately, within the time it took to drink a cup of tea, a familiar figure of a middle-aged man emerged from the airport gate.

”There, he has come out,” said Ivy Wilmar, spotting the man coming from the inside first. After saying that, she moved forward to greet him.

She handed the bouquet to the middle-aged man, who looked spirited, with a smile, ”Professor Gober, thank you for traveling from afar and taking time out of your busy schedule to attend Ghania’s university acceptance banquet. Welcome, welcome.”

”Thank you,” said Derliand Gober, taking the bouquet she offered, and perceptively replied, ”Mr. Wilmar, you are too kind.”

Turning his head towards the girl standing beside Ivy Wilmar, he said with a smiling face, ”Ghania is my student, and if I have the time, I will certainly attend her university acceptance banquet.”

In reality, the Finance Department at Tsinghua University recruits at least a few hundred students each year. As the head of the department and a well-known finance scholar in the country, it was impossible for him to be concerned about every single student.

His attendance at Ghania Quinlan’s banquet, frankly speaking, was solely for the sake of Ivy Wilmar’s face, as well as that of the Sullivan Family.

Otherwise, based solely on the fact that Ghania was a student majoring in the Music Department with a minor in Finance, he would not have possibly wasted two days traveling from Beijing to the small town of McKinney.

But he was young and, like Adelle Wafford, had reached his current status before the age of fifty. He was not only emotionally intelligent but also smart. He knew how to deal with people and things. Even though he didn’t actually take Ghania to heart, he still handled the formalities very smoothly.

”Ghania performed well in the joint examination. As an art student, she scored 589 points in the cultural section, which is a high score among all candidates. She was confident and poised during the interview, and her answers to the teachers’ questions were well-organized and logical. If she didn’t like music that much, I would have had her in the Finance Department long ago,” Derliand Gober, mentioning Ghania, spoke glowingly to Ivy Wilmar, ”But that’s alright, she can still study finance while majoring in music with me.”

Ivy Wilmar, having been an old hand in the circle, was shrewd. Unlike Ghania who took people’s casual compliments seriously, she smiled lightly and cleverly said, ”It’s Ghania’s good fortune to have caught the eye of Professor Gober. I just hope she can follow you diligently and not let down your kindness.”

Derliand Gober exchanged a few more pleasantries with her and then turned to walk out of the airport terminal building, talking to Ivy Wilmar while they walked, ”Mr. Wilmar, I am sorry for making you wait. I could have come out earlier, but our president’s luggage was lost, and I helped him look for it, which took some time...”

Ivy Wilmar didn’t pay much attention to the first half of his sentence, but she was intrigued by the second half. She immediately looked at him, surprised, and said, ”The President of Tsinghua University also came to McKinney?”

She was genuinely shocked, she had not expected the president of Tsinghua University to personally come to a small place like McKinney.

After all, Tsinghua University is one of the most prestigious institutions in the country, and the president of Tsinghua naturally cannot be merely a president that simple.
