The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 658: Chapter 658: Why So Impatient_1

Seeing Shawn Norton unconcerned, he could only cover his face, stand there, and say with a headache, ”I heard that recruiters from Southern University and Calypso University have already gone to No. 1 Middle School...”

”She didn’t go to school,” Shawn Norton said dismissively.

The president of Tsinghua University was left speechless, paused for a second, but still felt uneasy, ”What if she went to school first... Besides, even if she doesn’t go to school, those people will find a way to get her phone number to call her, send her text messages. If we just sit here doing nothing, she could be snatched away! You also value her as your student, and if she doesn’t come to Tsinghua University...”

The rest of the sentence had a bit of a ”We’re all grasshoppers on the same boat; if it capsizes, we all go down” vibe.

Shawn Norton put down the kettle, glanced at him, calmly poured out the water from his teacup, and said indifferently, ”If she doesn’t come to Tsinghua University, I can be a music department professor at any other school. It’s all the same to me, I’m still a teacher.”

Tsinghua University President: ...

I suspect you’re taking a jab at me, but I dare not refute.

There are only two honorary professors at Tsinghua University, losing a perfect genius student is bad enough, but if they lose their golden signboard too, he might want to die.

”I was just joking,” Shawn Norton said. He wasn’t really considering it that seriously; seeing him looking so anxious and flustered, he sighed, poured him a cup of tea, turned his head and said, ”Actually, you don’t need to be so worried. Let those people go and block the school if they want to, they definitely won’t catch anyone.”

The president of Tsinghua University sat down opposite him, unable to maintain the same composed and indifferent demeanor, picked up the palm-sized teacup in front of him, drank it in one gulp, then put the cup down, full of worry, ”I’m not afraid of them blocking people. I’m afraid...”

”Afraid of what?”

”...Afraid those people will offer better terms and lure her away from us. That’s exactly why I followed you to McKinney. But once we got to the hotel, you just started brewing tea and didn’t seem worried at all, leaving me as the only one in a panic.”

That was indeed the truth.

He had shamelessly dragged Shawn Norton along to McKinney precisely because he thought Shawn Norton had a good relationship with Nathalie Quinlan and could help mediate for him.

Who would have known that after their airplane landed, Shawn Norton first said he needed to go to the hotel to drop off his luggage and then that he didn’t need to go to the school because he was thirsty and wanted to brew a cup of Tea...

If he had known it would come to this, he would have come to McKinney by himself and gone straight to No. 1 Middle School to wait!

That would be better than being cooped up in the hotel and worrying.

The more he thought about it, the more he couldn’t sit still; abruptly standing up, he made up his mind, ”Mr. Norton, you take your time drinking tea at the hotel. I’ll go check out the situation at No. 1 Middle School.”

”Wait a minute,” Shawn Norton called out to him before he could leave, giving him an annoyed glare, and reprimanded without mincing words, ”I thought you were always a mature and composed person, more level-headed than anyone else usually. Why can’t you keep your cool this time?”

Dozens of universities were out there blocking No. 1 Middle School; how could he stay calm!!

Shawn Norton looked at him, seeming to read his mind, rested his hand on the table, and said to him slowly and deliberately, ”I’ve set up a lunch meeting with Nathalie at noon, right here at the Narayan Hotel. She’ll come to meet with us after she’s done.”

”Really?” The president of Tsinghua hadn’t expected him to have already scheduled the meeting, even setting the time and place.

Shawn Norton gave him a look, still quite spirited despite his age, ”False.”

The president of Tsinghua University now broke into a broad smile, no longer mentioning going to No. 1 Middle School, and hurried back to his seat across the table. He poured himself a cup of tea and took his time savoring a sip, grinning and giving a thumbs-up to the elderly man opposite him, praising, ”The Tea Mr. Norton brews really is fragrant!”

Tsk, truly fragrant!
