Apocalypse: Goddess Catalog, Starting With Twin Sisters!

Chapter 30: Chapter 30: A Tier One Zombie Appears

Mengde curled his lip as the woman’s screams outside the car faded into the distance.

’Does she really think I’m some kind of goody-two-shoes who chants sutras all day?’

’This is the apocalypse, lady!’

’I have no interest in taking in someone who’s completely useless to me!’

’A person like that would only be a burden and drag me down.’

’Worse, she might be one of those bleeding-heart types who’d get me killed one day with her naivete!’

’So she wanted a free ride?’

’Not a damn thing!’

’What do you bring to the table?! Huh?! Anything at all?!’

.............

The gas station Mengde was heading to was about ten kilometers from his residential complex.

Before the apocalypse, he could have floored it and been there in ten minutes.

But this was the apocalypse, and the whole way there was a scene of ”cars fleeing, zombies flying after them.”

So, just getting to the gas station took him over half an hour.

It took a while, but at least he’d landed... ahem, arrived safely.

But as for the SUV, its role in today’s outing was officially a wrap.

Gas stations were divided into three classes based on their fuel storage capacity.

There’s a saying: if you’re going to take a dump, make it a big one so it makes a bigger splash.

So, since he’d gone to all the trouble of coming out, Mengde naturally headed straight for the nearest and largest top-class gas station—a Hua Country Petroleum!

Its storage capacity was said to be between 120 and 180 cubic meters!

Before getting out of the car, Mengde first did a sweep with his Telekinesis Perception.

Although his perception range was only 100 meters, allowing him to see only as far as the convenience store at the station’s entrance, he still felt a little more confident.

There weren’t many zombies in the convenience store, only seven or eight of them. Two were probably station employees.

Just in case, he took out his Tang Blade.

For now, the Tang Blade was still his best weapon for close-quarters combat.

The apocalypse had begun during the night, so the entrance to the gas station was now blocked by a number of cars.

From Mengde’s vantage point, he could see that the occupants of many cars had turned into zombies. Having lost their minds, they’d forgotten how to open the doors.

Trapped inside, they were now roaring at him.

In response, Mengde didn’t hold back, flashing them an international gesture. ’You... come on out!’

He couldn’t tell if they understood the gesture, but in any case, many of the zombies seemed even more ”furious” than before.

’Tch!’

’I don’t have the energy to deal with them. If they’re not coming out, fine. They can just stay put.’

He walked toward the convenience store.

The fuel storage tanks were underneath it, so there was no avoiding the convenience store.

The moment he stepped inside, the zombies heard the noise and charged at him.

Having not seen any prey for a long time, they were as frantic as wild dogs that had just spotted... a fresh turd.

’Wait a minute...’

’Why does that comparison feel a little off?’

With no time to dwell on it, the ”ruthless” Mengde whipped out his Tang Blade and landed several vicious strikes.

Even though he hadn’t used it for a few days, the Tang Blade was as sharp as ever!

Slicing through zombies with it was, as they say, silky smooth!

In just a few moments, he had taken care of all seven or eight zombies.

Adhering to the principle that a thief never leaves empty-handed—bah, I mean, the principle of five-finger discounts—Mengde didn’t forget to ’collect’ the contents of the small convenience store.

’Even a mosquito is still meat!’

’You never know the cost of daily necessities until you’re the one in charge!’

Along the way, he also discovered a box of ”passion fruit chewing gum” and some... special little toys.

For example, a pink electrical wire with a switch on one end and, on the other, a pink, oval-shaped object the length of a middle finger...

???

’Seriously, what kind of gas station sells this stuff?!’

’So you can fuel up your car while you... fuel up yourself? The car goes fast, you get your rocks off... killing two birds with one stone, huh?’

Mengde, being an upright gentleman, expressed his contempt... then turned to leave... and the box vanished.

Continuing on, he found a back door in the store that led to the underground fuel storage area.

But the door was securely locked. Mengde swung his Tang Blade, and the giant alloy lock was destroyed.

An ordinary Tang Blade definitely couldn’t have broken it, but his had been enhanced by the System.

’The saying ”slicing through iron like mud” was no exaggeration!’

It wasn’t that he was too stupid to think of using a gun. It was... ’Damn it, this is a gas station, man!’

There were hundreds of cubic meters of fuel stored back there.

’Holy shit... If I fired a shot, I’d go up in flames with the whole place.’

’Oh, wait. You probably couldn’t even get a whole village together for a feast these days...’

He did a preliminary sweep with his Telekinesis, and only after confirming there were no problems did he enter.

The basement was equipped with emergency lights to prevent accidents.

They lit up as he walked in.

What greeted his eyes were three large fuel storage tanks.

The tanks were marked with ”50m³” signs.

Two of them held gasoline, and one held diesel!

A total of 150m³!

Since one cubic meter equals 1,000 liters, a rough estimate put the total at 150,000 liters of fuel.

This fuel alone would be more than enough to fill up 2,500 cars with 60-liter gas tanks.

Needless to say, Mengde was grinning from ear to ear.

’Collect!’

’Collect it all!’

Now, for the foreseeable future, he wouldn’t have to worry about running out of fuel.

Of course, if it weren’t so far and impractical, he would have loved to take all the petroleum in East Sea City for himself.

’Petroleum!’

’Such a scarce resource in the apocalypse!’

’Every drop you use is a drop you can’t get back.’

But it didn’t matter. Just because he didn’t have the chance now didn’t mean he wouldn’t in the future.

He believed that as his Superpower Level increased, his Personal Space would also expand.

’It won’t be too late to collect it all then!’

’It’s not like it can run away.’

After reassuring himself, Mengde came out of the gas station.

Next to the gas station was a ”Kendeji” restaurant.

The fast-food joint, which advertised itself as being open 24 hours, was now completely out of business.

But as soon as he walked in, a zombie employee in a Kendeji uniform charged at him.

It was a female employee with a delicate face and fair skin. Her uniform only came down to her thighs, revealing beautiful legs wrapped in black stockings. Sexy and temptin—

’Uh, miss, could you please not open your mouth?’

’Your blood-streaked teeth are grossing me out...’

Hhhhhh... (*Finally, a living person! Smells delicious!*)

’Also... Miss, I know they say the customer is God, but damn it, this is the apocalypse! Is it really appropriate to greet me with this much enthusiasm?’

Hhhhhh... (*Finally, I get to eat God’s flesh!*)

Mengde: ........

To repay her enthusiasm, Mengde sent her on an early trip to the great beyond.

As for the other employee, she was a middle-aged woman with thighs nearly as thick as his waist... Bleh...

Considering the tastes of the women back home, who might get tired of eating rich food every day, Mengde decided to take the fried chicken equipment back with him.

That way, they could have a change of pace whenever they were in the mood for fried chicken.

’After all, a diet of just fish isn’t good for a developing body!’

It was worth noting that the Kendeji restaurant might have been in the middle of upgrading its equipment when the apocalypse hit.

As a result, there was a brand-new set of fried chicken equipment sitting in the back storeroom.

’Alright!’

’Perfect!’

Most people have a tendency to love the new and despise the old.

But Mengde was an exception. He didn’t just like ”new”; he liked ”untouched,” the kind that still had that thin, pink membrane...

If they also happened to know a few ”technical skills,” well, that was even better...

With a wave of his hand, he stored the new equipment in his Personal Space.

He turned, about to walk out of the Kendeji, when he glanced through the window and saw that a horde of zombies had gathered at the entrance to the gas station.

They were packed together densely; a quick glance suggested there were at least a hundred of them.

Furthermore, all of the zombies were staring right at the Kendeji restaurant.

Clearly, he had become their target.

What struck him as strange, however, was that although their grayish-white eyes were filled with a man-eating hunger, they didn’t immediately charge forward to attack him.

’Something’s wrong!’

’This makes no sense at all!’

Just as Mengde was puzzling over this, the System provided the answer.

[Ding! Host, please be advised. A Tier One Zombie has been detected...]
