Apocalypse: Goddess Catalog, Starting With Twin Sisters!

Chapter 20: Chapter 20: The Widow’s Request

Mengde knew that what Cheng Ying needed most right now was companionship and comfort.

So he didn’t say anything, just letting her cry her heart out.

An hour later, Cheng Ying slowly composed herself.

”Thank you for saving me!”

Having just finished crying, Cheng Ying’s eyes were bloodshot. Tears still glistened in them, like stars fallen upon a lake’s surface. It gave her a disheveled, broken beauty that was truly pitiable.

”It was nothing, Sister Ying.”

”Oh, you know me?”

Cheng Ying looked confused. She had thought Mengde was part of some rescue team.

But now it was clear he wasn’t.

”Yes, I do. But instead of Sister Ying, I prefer to call you Aunt Cheng!”

Cheng Ying was stunned.

”You’ve seen my livestreams?”

Only her fans called her that.

”Yeah, I used to follow you.”

”I live right here in this complex.”

Cheng Ying now understood why the man before her had shown up just in time to save her.

’He must have seen the sheet I hung out asking for help. That’s why he came.’

She couldn’t help but lower her guard a little.

’At least this means he doesn’t have any ill intentions toward me, right?’

[Ding! Congratulations, Host. Goddess Cheng Ying’s Affinity has increased by 5. Current Affinity: 10!]

Mengde glanced around the room. It was decorated for a celebration, with a large ”Double Happiness” character on the wall surrounded by other red decorations.

”This was supposed to be my husband’s and my marital home, but... he’s dead now...”

Mengde had heard the gist of her story already, so he anticipated what Cheng Ying was about to say.

’Just as I thought...’

”Can... can you do me a favor?”

The past few days had made her realize that help wasn’t coming anytime soon. She would have to get her revenge on her own.

”The bastards who killed your husband?”

”Yes!”

The man’s clean and decisive actions from just moments ago were still fresh in her mind.

Now, the man before her was her only hope.

”I beg you, please help me... I must make them pay for what they’ve done!”

THUD. Cheng Ying fell to her knees before Mengde.

”I have no other choice...”

”SOB SOB SOB...”

Seeing Cheng Ying kneeling on the ground, sobbing her heart out, a flicker of pity crossed Mengde’s mind.

..........................

Mengde wasn’t surprised by the system’s score.

After all, in terms of looks and figure, Cheng Ying was every bit as stunning as the two sisters.

But she absolutely nailed it when it came to her aura—sweet yet vivacious, sexy yet enchanting!

Dressed in a professional uniform with black stockings, her ’battle armor,’ she was the absolute pinnacle of the ’innocent but sexy’ goddess archetype.

’Even the system detected her potential. Looks like I have no choice but to help her.’

So, he gently helped Cheng Ying up from the floor.

”Sister Ying, don’t worry.”

”I’ll definitely help you. In fact, I was coming for them anyway.”

For Mengde, it was a convenient task anyway.

After all, with a group like that in the complex, they could become a threat to the two sisters if he ever had to leave.

So, it was better to eliminate the threat sooner rather than later.

Cheng Ying’s face lit up with surprise and delight when she heard his words.

”Really?”

Mengde smiled and nodded. The next second, an emotional Cheng Ying threw herself into his arms.

”Thank you! Mengde, I... I will definitely repay you!”

[Ding! Congratulations, Host. Goddess Cheng Ying’s Affinity has increased by 10. Current Affinity: 20!]

Mengde smiled.

’Once I take care of that good-for-nothing Brother Kun, her Affinity will probably skyrocket again!’

’I have to admit, this woman has a seriously incredible body!’

’Paired with her status as a widow... it immediately brought to mind certain... educational materials.’

’If the timing weren’t so bad, he’d be tempted to ”comfort” her thoroughly right now.’

’But he also knew that now was definitely not the right time to conquer her completely.’

’Her Affinity for him wasn’t high enough to unlock her entry in the Goddess Catalogue yet.’

’Even if he ”devoured” her now, she wouldn’t be truly willing, and he wouldn’t get the system’s reward.’

’As the saying goes: being passive gets you one ride, being active gets you countless rides, but if it’s automatic... hehe...’

’One ride versus countless rides... he naturally knew which to choose!’

”Tell me about this Brother Kun. What’s his situation?”

He had already killed Brother Kun’s men, so now he could only rely on Cheng Ying for information.

Fortunately, Cheng Ying knew a few things and immediately told Mengde everything she had learned.

Through Cheng Ying’s account, Mengde quickly got a picture of the situation upstairs.

There were more than ten survivors upstairs, and they were all armed.

Their leader, Brother Kun, was the former security captain of the complex and had a handgun.

None of this posed a major threat to him, but another piece of information from Cheng Ying did catch his attention.

”A guy who can spray fire?”

Cheng Ying nodded.

”Yes. I saw that person conjure flames from thin air to burn a zombie to death.”

Hearing this, and recalling the scorch marks he’d seen on his way up, Mengde already had a suspicion.

’Looks like there’s a Fire Superpower User here.’

Ever since Mengde had Awakened his own Superpower, he had been prepared to face other Superpower Users at any moment.

But with his Space Black Hole as an Absolute Defense, he wasn’t afraid.

In fact, he was quite looking forward to it.

”Let’s go. I’ll take you to get your revenge!”

Mengde took the initiative and grasped Cheng Ying’s hand.

’The Goddess’s hand... so soft, hehe...’

Brother Kun and his gang were on the 19th floor, the top floor of Building 6.

Brother Kun’s group had long since driven all the zombies from the middle floors downstairs.

That was why Mengde had been swarmed by zombies when he first entered the building.

Perhaps they had gotten too comfortable, because the group hadn’t even posted a guard.

It was a far cry from the strict security Brother Dao had in Building 1.

The two of them entered the 19th floor with ease.

As soon as they entered the 19th floor, they were greeted by the sight of men and women engaged in carnal acts everywhere.

The sounds of panting and gasping filled the entire floor.

They even witnessed several ”live performances.”

The orgiastic, free-for-all kind.

Cheng Ying, still a virgin, couldn’t help but blush furiously.

Although she and her husband had registered their marriage, they hadn’t had a chance to consummate it before he died.

The scene was, to say the least, a shock to her system.

But Mengde had to admit, this group was living more extravagantly than they ever did before the apocalypse.

No one even reacted when he and Cheng Ying entered; the free-for-all continued unabated.

In response to this blatant disrespect, Mengde gave a mischievous grin, silently removed the suppressor from his gun, and then...

BANG!

As the deafening gunshot rang out, it was as if the world fell silent.
