Apocalypse: Goddess Catalog, Starting With Twin Sisters!

Chapter 10: Chapter 10: This Man is 90% Not Right

It had to be said, Mengde’s ”help” had taken quite a long time.

At first, Chen Jiayao was idly playing on her phone and eating snacks, not thinking much of it.

But after half an hour passed and the two of them still hadn’t returned, she started to feel like something was off.

”Strange!”

’What’s going on with my sister? Why hasn’t she come back after all this time?’

’And my brother-in-law, too. Does it really take this long just to check on her?’

’I wonder what kind of mischief those two are up to. Hmph!’

Chen Jiayao pouted, a gesture that looked exceptionally cute on her sweet face.

With that, she stood up and headed toward the bathroom.

But as she walked, she felt that something was wrong again. Faint sounds, as quiet as the buzzing of mosquitoes, gradually reached her ears.

And the closer she got to the bathroom, the louder the sounds became.

She pressed her ear to the door to listen, and no matter how innocent the girl was, she instantly understood what was happening.

”Tch!”

’That bad brother-in-law!’

’I knew he was bullying my sister!’

The girl clenched her small fists, a little ”angry.”

After a moment of thought, she lowered the hand she had raised to push open the door.

’Forget it... I’ll let you bully her this one time... Just this once...’

Driven by curiosity, she listened for a while longer.

’How strange! It sounds like my sister is being bullied really, really badly...’

............

By the time Mengde walked out, the sky had already turned dark.

He carried the unconscious Chen Jiayi to the sisters’ room.

But he noticed that his sister-in-law, Chen Jiayao, wasn’t in the room.

He went out to the living room and found the girl had fallen asleep on the sofa.

Since she was at home, she was dressed casually.

She wore a white, casual short-sleeved shirt that was long enough to cover the athletic shorts she had on underneath, making her long, slender legs, which were casually positioned, stand out from a distance.

But upon closer inspection, her legs were also wrapped in a layer of snag-resistant, skin-toning stockings.

Perhaps she had just been practicing her dancing, as her hair was slick with sweat.

Mengde wanted to cover her with a blanket to keep her from catching a chill.

After the apocalypse began, the daytime temperature would spike.

In contrast, the temperature at night was much lower.

Unexpectedly, he had only taken a few steps before the girl woke up.

”Brother-in-law, where’s my sister?”

Still drowsy, Chen Jiayao stood up and stretched, putting her graceful figure on full display.

’As expected of a dancer, her figure is even better than her sister’s.’

”Your sister was tired, so she’s asleep!”

”Oh!”

Knowing what her brother-in-law and sister had been doing in the bathroom, Chen Jiayao naturally understood what he meant by ”tired.”

Being a smart girl, she didn’t ask any more questions.

It was just that whenever she saw her brother-in-law, she was reminded of the ”mischief” he and her sister had been up to in the bathroom, and her little face would turn beet red.

”Brother-in-law, I’m going to go check on my sister.”

After saying that, the girl ran off without a backward glance.

Mengde rubbed his nose.

’Seriously, am I that scary?’

As it was already late, Mengde took the ingredients he had gathered today and cooked up a sumptuous feast.

With the supplies of an entire supermarket at his disposal, he cooked extravagantly, whipping up eight dishes and a soup.

Minced pork with eggplant, braised fish fillets, potato and chicken stew, pork stew with glass noodles...

They were all hearty dishes, and there were so many that they filled the entire dining table.

By the time he was done, he saw it was almost ten o’clock at night.

Just then, Chen Jiayao came out, supporting her sister.

The ”help” Mengde had given her all afternoon had left her sleeping until now, and she could still barely walk.

Seeing the two sisters approach, Mengde didn’t show the slightest bit of embarrassment. He just chuckled and beckoned for them to sit down.

”Rested up?”

”Are you tired? I can give you a massage.”

Chen Jiayi couldn’t help but roll her eyes at him. She didn’t dare let this man touch her again.

’I don’t know where this man gets all his energy. He doesn’t even rest when he gets back, he just knows how to torment me...’

’It’s outrageous!’

However, looking at the results of Mengde’s hard work on the table, she couldn’t help but give the man a thumbs-up in her heart.

’He’s too amazing!’

’He knows how to take care of people, and he’s so... capable...’

’I’m content...’

A long-lost sense of security enveloped her.

Listening to the system’s notifications, Mengde ate and chatted with the two sisters while silently reciting in his mind.

’System, open my attribute panel.’

Holy crap!

When Mengde saw the explanation, he couldn’t help but exclaim, ”Holy crap!”

’Forget the rest, that first effect alone is invincible!’

’My body was already enhanced to the peak of human potential, and now I get this? Doesn’t that just make me doubly manly, a real man’s man?!’

HAHAHA!

Mengde was so happy he couldn’t stop grinning.

After all, what man doesn’t want to be stronger in... certain aspects?

This sudden laugh made Jiayi, who had just been happily chatting with her sister, feel a sense of dread...

’Something’s wrong...’

’Ninety-nine percent of this man is just... wrong...’

By the time they finished the meal, it was almost midnight.

Considering he had put Jiayi through the wringer all afternoon, Mengde let the two sisters go rest.

After the sisters left, he sat alone in the living room with a Tang Blade resting beside him.

He looked as if he were bracing for a fight.

A few candles flickered on the living room table. In their faint light, his chiseled face looked exceptionally grim.

Outside, it was pitch-black. The twinkling starlight and chirping birds of the pre-apocalyptic world were gone.

It was eerily quiet; even the zombies were much quieter than during the day.

But he had a premonition that someone might try to ambush him tonight.

It wasn’t that he was paranoid. It was because of the incident with Brother Dao during the day. His intuition told him it definitely wasn’t over.

Besides, after he had killed those seven or eight people during the day, he had seen a familiar figure from a window in Building 1......
