Quick Transmigration: The Cannon Fodder's Comeback in the Era Tales

Chapter 693: Chapter 693: The Original Wife Sold by Her Husband 39

The Wang Hongjun brothers have many children, and they were concerned that a small house wouldn’t be enough for them. Now that they are financially well-off, when they build a new house, they all want it to be grand, so that they can have a good reputation in the village.

Under the instigation of Yuan Chun, they also built six additional side rooms and five gate rooms.

The Wang family’s homestead is located right by the road, and once Xiao Wa Village develops into a town, these gate rooms can be rented out as storefronts.

Yuan Chun’s front yard is large, and she also built five gate rooms. However, her gate rooms are completely separate from the main house in the back, and she opened the main entrance on the side of the yard.

In 1981, when rural farmland was distributed to households, Yuan Chun and her mother were allocated six acres of paddy fields and two acres of dryland. Yuan Chun rented out her land to the relatives in the Wang Family with the most labor. In return, she received three hundred jin of rice and one hundred jin of corn each year, which was enough to feed her and little Niu Niu for the year.

Also in that year, Wang Family’s supermarket opened two branches in the city district, and Brother Wang and Wang San took their respective wives to the city, with each couple managing one supermarket.

A branch supermarket also opened in the county town, with Second Brother Wang and Fourth Brother Wang and their wives managing them.

Yuan Chun was responsible for traveling to the South to purchase various electrical appliances, clothing, shoes, and socks.

Yuan Chun almost became a machine transporting goods back and forth from the South. Of course, to avoid exposing the space, over half of the goods she purchased were shipped by train to the county town and city district.

She then used the space to bring back another batch of goods.

By 1985, a group of underground survey experts came to the village, and these experts rented accommodations with several households of the Wang Hongjun brothers.

Because, throughout Xiao Wa Village, only their houses were the best, only they had houses that were vacant, these experts upon coming to Xiao Wa Village, set their sights on their houses.

Afterward, rumors spread in the village that Xiao Wa Village would soon be established as a town, and in the future, villagers wanting to apply for a homestead would have to pay for it.

Regardless of whether they believe it or not, the villagers started a frenzy of dividing up households.

In just three days, every married couple still living with their parents was separated and started living independently. According to village customs, after dividing households, parents usually choose to live with the eldest son and divide out the other sons, but this time, after splitting households, the parents chose to live independently.

To be able to apply for more homestead plots, the elderly even chose to live with the son.

Some people went even further, separating out sons who had reached adulthood but hadn’t married yet.

Although separated in households, they still ate from the same pot, which counted as separating household registration not dividing meals.

Seeing the villagers making such a fuss, Wang Mu anxiously called her eldest son, urging him to separate out her eldest grandson.

Wang Mu has fifteen grandchildren, and only the eldest grandson was an adult, just having turned 18 this year, while the second grandson was 16, with another year and a half before adulthood.

Persuaded by Wang Mu’s frequent calls over three days, Wang Hongjun had no choice but to separate out his eldest son, who had just entered his senior year in high school.

He even took a day off, went to the village, and set up a separate household registration booklet for his eldest son.

He then went to the brigade department and applied for a homestead for his eldest son.

Due to the high demand for homesteads in the village in recent days, there weren’t enough homesteads to go around, and those villagers who didn’t get a homestead became anxious and made a fuss at the brigade department.

There was no other option; after discussions among several village cadres, they decided to distribute the large area of sandy land at the village entrance, which was developed a few years ago, as homesteads.

The villagers got what they wanted and were happy to let the village cadres off the hook.
