Quick Transmigration: The Cannon Fodder's Comeback in the Era Tales

Chapter 678: Chapter 678: The First Wife Sold Off by Her Husband 24

Yuan Chun playfully said, ”Mom, with so many nephews, I’m not afraid of no one helping me make a fire. If I shout from the next yard, Zhenbang and the others will rush to help.”

”You little rascal, you’re trying to drive me crazy.”

Wang Mu, annoyed, gave her a light pat on the head.

Wang Changgui sighed repeatedly, and finally agreed after talking with Grandpa Qi.

The next day, before dawn, Wang Mu got up in the dark to make breakfast.

When the meal was ready and the sky was just starting to brighten, the Wang family brothers and sisters-in-law quietly got up from their beds, ate, and then dragged two carts to follow the villagers out.

Wang Changgui didn’t go to chop wood today. In the morning, he went to the commune, secured a plot for Yuan Chun to build a house, and then went to town to buy half a pound of meat.

At noon, after the meal, Wang Changgui took out the document approving the plot for Yuan Chun. Wang Mu’s eyes turned a little red and she took out two hundred yuan for Yuan Chun, ”You child, insisting on moving out to live, this time your father and I will give in, this is the money for building your house.”

Yuan Chun blinked repeatedly, as if she had forgotten to tell her parents something.

”Mom, I have money.”

Yuan Chun repeated the story she had told her elder and second brothers, ”Dad, Mom, I didn’t mean to hide it from you. I was worried about the secret coming out. As long as you know, don’t tell anyone else.”

”You silly child, no need to remind us.” Wang Mu put the two hundred yuan back.

Since her daughter had several thousand yuan, she didn’t need this two hundred, so Wang Mu decided to save it for dividing among her sons.

Wang Mu laughed, ”Daughter, it’s good you kept the money secret. We’re lucky you hid it from everyone. Otherwise, if that scoundrel He Lisheng found out, you might not have been able to keep it.”

Regarding that scoundrel He Lisheng, Wang Mu knew well how much money he had swindled from her daughter, but she chose not to intervene out of consideration for her daughter’s feelings.

”Dad, I’ll give you five hundred yuan, help me buy some bricks and tiles. I want to build a brick house, or else... I’ll give Dad a blueprint, just build according to it.”

Yuan Chun originally planned to build two rooms first, and after the economic reform at the end of the year, she’d earn money through business and expand next year. But two rooms seemed too few: one bedroom, one kitchen, and not even a storage room, plus going out in the cold to use the bathroom.

Yuan Chun thought of those three-bedroom, two-hall apartments decades later.

Since money wasn’t an issue, she decided to build a good one.

In the cold days of winter, going to the bathroom wouldn’t mean facing the chilly wind.

So, that afternoon, Yuan Chun drew a blueprint of a house with three bedrooms, a living room, a dining room, a kitchen, and a bathroom. She even designed a septic tank in the yard and a cement water tank on the roof.

Of course, the yard required a well to be dug.

As for the water pump, well, ordinary people couldn’t buy one, so Yuan Chun planned to get the cheapest, simplest one from the mall using the least points.

”Dad, a classmate of mine’s father works in the county’s agricultural machinery factory. She told me before that her dad can buy a water pump.”

Yuan Chun attributed her knowledge to a stranger she didn’t really know.

Wang Changgui, holding the blueprint, smiled so widely his eyes turned to slits, ”This house is well-designed, with the kitchen at the back. Cooking won’t irritate the eyes, and the smoke won’t enter the rooms.”

The Wang family’s house was the old type, with a kitchen as soon as you entered. Behind the main door, there were earth stoves on both sides, and rooms with kangs connected to the kitchen’s earth stove.
