Quick Transmigration: The Cannon Fodder's Comeback in the Era Tales

Chapter 686: Chapter 686: The Original Wife Sold by Her Husband 32

Wang San stared excitedly, ”Yuan Chun, is it true? The country is really going to open the market?”

”It’s true, San, are you thinking about going into business?”

”Of course I am, why wouldn’t I be? Us farmers toil for a lifetime in the fields and barely earn enough money to fill our stomachs. If we want to live a good life, we have to go out and earn money. Our education level is low, we can’t get into college, and we can’t find a job. The only way out is to do business.”

Yuan Chun gave San a thumbs up, ”San, you’re right, so you all have half a month’s time to think carefully about what kind of business you plan to do.”

”I can provide each of you with five hundred yuan as start-up capital,” Yuan Chun said proudly.

It’s not that she didn’t want to give more, but she had previously told her family that the ginseng only sold for three thousand yuan. A lot was spent on building the house and some in the Imperial City as well. Her parents and brothers all have a rough idea of how much she has left now.

If she suddenly took out ten or twenty thousand, the family would definitely chase her down asking where the money came from. She couldn’t just make up another excuse saying she sold ginseng again.

Moreover, the brothers are all doing business for the first time. She doesn’t want them to bite off more than they can chew. It’s most important for them to accumulate experience gradually with small investments and small business.

Heavy goose feather snow fell for three days and nights straight before stopping. In places where the snow was deep, it reached people’s thighs. As the brigade leader, Wang Changgui had to organize the male villagers to take turns shoveling snow off the roofs of the elderly’s houses every day to prevent the houses from collapsing under the weight of the snow.

He also had to organize the village women to clear the snow from the roads, ensuring a path was dug on each road for everyone to walk.

Wang Mu and Yuan Chun stayed at home, weaving two long panels from straw and placed them at the spot where Yuan Chun’s new house was to have a courtyard wall, creating a straw fence. They also opened a door in the back yard wall of the Wang family’s house close to Yuan Chun’s new house.

From now on, visiting Yuan Chun’s house didn’t require leaving the Wang family compound; they could conveniently go through the back yard door. It also brought the Wang family closer to the well, just around the corner.

On this day, a document was issued nationwide, and Wang Changgui went to the commune early in the morning for a meeting, not returning until evening.

Upon returning to the village, Wang Changgui didn’t even go inside his home. He hurried straight to the brigade office to inform all the village residents of the good news about the market opening through loudspeaker.

The villagers were ecstatic.

Wang Hongjun and his brothers, after hearing the news from their father, all rushed to the new house next door, ”Sis, Sis, did you hear? The market is open, we can go into business.”

Since the straw fence was put up, Yuan Chun moved into the new house.

Eleven nephews competed to sleep on the new brick bed at their aunt’s house. Since Yuan Chun’s kang was too small to fit so many children, Mr. Wang made the decision for the eleven children to take turns sleeping over.

Yuan Chun and Niu Niu, along with the two youngest nephews, shared one kang, while the other nephews shared another. Worried they might get cold at night, Mr. Wang and the four brothers would come over in the middle of the night to help stoke the kang.

Yuan Chun didn’t start a fire to cook because she didn’t have any grains or vegetables to cook with on the surface.

So, Yuan Chun ate at the Wang family’s house during the day and returned home to sleep at night.

People in the Northeast, during the winter, every household eats twice a day, once at nine in the morning and once at four in the afternoon. They had already eaten dinner early, and Yuan Chun was nestled on the kang, telling stories to Niu Niu and the nephews.
