Quick Transmigration: The Cannon Fodder's Comeback in the Era Tales

Chapter 651: Chapter 651: The Real and Fake Heiress 44

Just when Yuan Chun was trying hard to let Grandpa Cao live a few more years, trouble arose over at the Lin family.

Lin Zhenfei was beaten until he was covered in blood and was sent to the hospital.

Being the only son, Lin Guowen received the news and immediately left a room full of people to rush to the hospital.

Lin Jiaojiao and four or five doctors were in the operating room urgently stitching up Lin Zhenfei’s wounds.

Eight hours later, the surgery was finally completed.

Lin Jiaojiao walked out of the operating room exhausted, and Lin Guowen urgently asked, ”Jiaojiao, how is your brother?”

”He’s not out of danger yet.”

Lin Jiaojiao rubbed her aching forehead and continued, ”His head was fractured, requiring twenty-seven stitches, and there’s residual blood clotting inside that might be life-threatening, though it might dissipate.”

”He was slashed on the abdomen, but luckily the wound wasn’t deep enough to cut any organs, although it still required thirty-six stitches. His leg bone was also broken, a comminuted fracture. Dad, even if he survives the danger, Zhenfei will never stand up again in his life.”

Lin Guowen staggered back a few steps and dropped onto a chair in the hallway, his face utterly pale.

Lin Jiaojiao said wearily, ”Dad, don’t be sad. Brother will definitely be okay.”

Lin Guowen forcefully rubbed his sorrowful face and said, ”Jiaojiao, you must be tired too. Go and rest, I’ll stay here tonight and tomorrow I’ll hire a caregiver to take care of your brother.”

”Dad...”

”I’m fine, don’t worry.”

”Alright then, Dad, I’ll go change clothes and have a meal, check back in three hours.”

”Okay, go ahead.”

After Lin Jiaojiao left, Lin Zhenfei was moved to the intensive care unit by nurses, and Lin Guowen followed, standing outside the ICU door, looking at his eldest son lying unconscious in the hospital bed through the glass door. Lin Guowen suddenly felt devoid of strength.

No matter how unhealthy Lin Zhenfei was, he was nonetheless the only son by his side right now.

He had originally planned to mend the relationship with his son and gradually introduce him into the company, involving him in the company’s matters. He thought by the time he got older, he wouldn’t end up without an heir.

Even if his son’s capabilities were lacking, he could still have a grandson.

Worst case scenario, let his son get married and have a grandson. He was still young, just over forty. By the time he groomed a grandson, he’d only be in his sixties, and at that point, handing the Lin Group over to the grandson would be feasible.

But now, his son lay on a hospital bed, beaten half to death.

What if, what if Lin Zhenfei dies?

What would happen to the Lin family?

Lin Jiaojiao doesn’t carry the Lin family’s bloodline.

Lin Guowen suddenly recalled Yuan Chun, who he drove out of the family years ago.

If Lin Zhenfei dies and the youngest son remains missing, Yuan Chun might end up being his only biological daughter.

With this realization, Lin Guowen hurriedly made his way out of the hospital.

That day, Grandpa Cao was under the pomegranate tree in the yard, teaching his great-grandsons and granddaughters to recite the ”Three Character Classic”—they were halfway through when someone knocked on the door.

The guard went to open the door and saw a commanding, somewhat familiar middle-aged man standing outside. The guard asked, ”Sir, who are you looking for?”

Seeing the guard, dressed in military uniform and exuding righteousness, made Lin Guowen, the chairman of a major company, feel a bit uneasy, ”Hello, may I ask, is this the Cao Family?”
