Quick Transmigration: The Cannon Fodder's Comeback in the Era Tales

Chapter 657: Chapter 657: The Original Wife Sold by Her Husband 3

Someone mumbled, ”Oh my, in this clear weather, how did lightning strike all of a sudden? Did these two do something bad that even the heavens couldn’t tolerate and sent down a bolt?”

”Oh dear, what should we do? It seems like they’ve been struck dead.”

”They’re not dead yet, look, their chests are still moving.”

”Oh my, struck like this and still alive?”

”Who among you is brave enough to go take a look?”

”I wouldn’t dare go. If there’s still electricity, it might shock us to death.”

”People are about to die, we should report to the police quickly.”

”Huh, there’s another person on the cart, seems like a patient.”

”Oh dear, her family has been struck by lightning, how can she still sleep?”

”She must be unconscious, even with all this noise, she hasn’t woken up.”

”Gouwa’s mother, go and give the person on the cart a push, see if she’s really sick.”

”She must be sick. Otherwise, why would she be covered so completely? It’s only October, not cold. I’m not going to push her. What if she’s dead? It’s so inauspicious.”

”Daya’s Mother, you go and check.”

”I don’t dare.”

”Fine, I’ll go and see.” An elderly woman said.

The old woman walked over to the cart and carefully lifted the blanket, revealing a young woman underneath. Seeing the woman’s rosy complexion, not looking like a dead person, the old woman breathed a sigh of relief.

She gave Yuan Chun a strong push and shouted, ”Hey, girl, wake up. Your family has been struck by lightning. Wake up quickly.”

After several pushes, Yuan Chun pretended to slowly come to her senses.

She opened her eyes, looking bewildered and confused at the villagers, ”Who... who are you? Where is this place?”

”Girl, you’re finally awake. Is that your dad and your husband? They’ve been hit by lightning. You better get off and take a look,” the old woman said.

Yuan Chun put on a confused and puzzled expression, ”My... my dad’s still back home. I came to the Imperial City to find my husband. I... I haven’t found him yet. How could he be struck by lightning?”

”What...” The old woman was stunned, ”They’re not your family. Then why are you lying on their cart?”

”I...”

Yuan Chun looked down, then hurriedly scrambled up, ”I don’t know. I... I remember I was at the Imperial University gate with my two brothers looking for my husband. Later, I got hungry. My eldest brother stayed at the school gate, and my second brother and I went to a nearby bun shop to buy Mantou.”

When turning a corner, it seemed like someone covered my nose, and then I don’t remember anything. Auntie, where is this place? Where are my brothers?”

The old woman slapped her thigh hard and mumbled, ”Oh my, child, you might have encountered human traffickers.”

”Human... human traffickers?”

”Indeed, human traffickers. These two must be traffickers. I thought they looked unfamiliar, not from any nearby village. Turns out they’re traffickers.”

”Tsk tsk tsk, no wonder the heavens sent down lightning to strike them dead. They were up to no good, trafficking women.”

”They must have done too many bad things and got their retribution.”

”The heavens won’t strike good people. Heavens only strike bad people. These two traffickers must have done too many vile deeds. That’s why the heavens struck them.”

”Quickly, go call the captain. This definitely needs to be reported to the police.”

”Guo Qiang has already gone to call him.”

”The captain’s here, the captain’s here.”

”Captain, these two are traffickers, already struck dead by lightning.”

”Not dead yet, their chests are still moving.”
