The announcement shocked the entire world, they didn’t expect that at such an important conjecture in the war, something like this would happen. Gongsun Zan was enraged when he heard this announcement, to answer Yuan Shao’s announcement he declared war on him, making the North enter a new war.

Gongsun Zan keeps attacking Ji Province aggressively, managing to push out Han Fu’s army from northern Ji Province. Yuan Shao sent his armies immediately to the north, and when he heard that Gongsun Zan managed to push out Han Fu’s former army.

Yuan Shao sent Zhang He and Qu Yi to lead Han Fu’s army that defend Ye, to support his army led by Yan Liang and Wen Chou to repel Gongsun Zan and oust him from Ji Province entirely.

Tian Feng and Guo Tu suggested to Yuan Shao to ally with Liu Yu, who was being oppressed by Gongsun Zan. Yuan Shao agreed with the suggestion, and he dispatched Feng Ji and Shen Pei protected by Gao Lan and Gao Gan.

Feng Ji and Shen Pei embarked on Ji at You Province, Liu Yu’s last stronghold where he was surrounded on all sides by Gongsun Zan. While waiting for Shen Pei and Feng Ji to arrive at Ji, the Battle of Julu begins with Gongsun Zan defending against Yuan Shao’s attack.

The breaking of Yuan Shao’s alliance with Gongsun Zan changed the political landscape of the land, when Cao Cao and Lie Fan heard the news it’s been days since it happened, and both made some slightly different decisions.

At Cao Cao’s court, a man named Guo Jia whom Xun Yu and Xi Zhicai recommended arrived at his court some days ago. Cao Cao and Guo Jia have a discussion on the affairs that are happening right now, in which both are satisfied with each other.

Cao Cao said Guo Jia must be the man who would help him achieve greatness, while Guo Jia also happily thought that He was truly the lord he wished to serve. Since then, In Cao Cao’s court, there has been one more top advisor serving him.

Cao Cao: ”Everyone has heard about the news of the breakdown of the Alliance between Yuan Shao and Gongsun Zan, what do you think our next move should be?”

Guo Jia: ”If I may My Lord, the end of the alliance between Yuan Shao and Gongsun Zan opens a new opportunity for us. This means that the North will not be calmed for some time, giving us time to develop the lands My Lord just received.”

Xun Yu: ”I agree with what Fengxiao just said, My Lord, we should focus on our domestic affairs, increasing the production of food is our number one priority if we want to be ready to answer Lie Fan’s call.”

Cheng Yu: ”We can copy Lie Fan’s new Tuntian System, with the number of Yellow Turban prisoners we have, we can use them to implement the Tuntian system.”

Cao Cao: ”Hmm Cheng Yu said some wise words, Lie Fan has shown that the Tuntian System still can be used, then Xun Yu and Cheng Yu the two of you will be responsible for the implementation.”

Xun Yu + Cheng Yu: ”Yes My Lord.”

Cao Cao: ”Next, I want to know how many soldiers we can recruit with our capability now?”

Xi Zhicai replied to Cao Cao’s question, saying that with Yan Province in their hand now, they received some of Liu Dai’s soldiers, which increased them to around 100,000 men. Cao Cao can increase to maybe around 200,000 men and that is the limit he can have now.

Guo Jia told Cao Cao that hastily increasing their numbers was a bad practice, he should send his genres like Cao Ren and Yu Jin who had good eyes for picking a soldier and were talented in training them to be the ones recruiting his soldiers.

Cao Cao feels at ease now, Guo Jia can read his mind before he says what Gou Jia just said. He entrusted Cao Ren and Yu Jin for the recruitment of his soldiers and training them, Cao Ren and Yu Jin saluted him receiving the order.

Xiahou Dun: ”My Lord, our force is now stationed across Yan Province and Sili, we have to station soldiers at Luoyang to defend against Dong Zhuo’s sudden movement and at Jibei against Liu Bei. I’m afraid that the numbers of our army right now are too small for when Lie Fan calls us to war.”

Guo Jia: ”General Xiahou Dun no need to be in a panic, Lie Fan is a man who can read the bigger picture and with the advisors he has at his side, he would not attack Yuan Shu right now, maybe in a couple of months or even a year, leaving us enough time to develop.”

Cao Cao: ”Fengxiao is right, Lie Fan is not an anxious man and is always cautious with his step. This can be seen from the way he leads his army, the preparation is always meticulous.”

Xiahou Dun: ”Then If My Lord and Master Guo Jia said so, then I will be assured.”

Xun Yu: ”My Lord, with us preparing against Yuan Shu and raising our army, I suggest that My Lord toured Yan Province with your army to clean up the Yellow Turbans that were hiding.”

Cao Cao: ”What Xun Yu said is true, Xiahou Yuan and Cao Hong you two follow me and lead an army of 20,000 we will scour Yan Province tomorrow.”

Cao Cao decided to focus on strengthening his grasp over the Yan Province, and increasing the amount of supplies he would have also increased the prosperity of the Yan Province, strengthening his internal affairs.

At Lie Fan’s Court, Lie Fan is reading the report of Yuan Shao and Gongsun Zan alliance breaking off. He foresaw that this would happen, as Yuan Shao despised Gongsun Zan and Gongsun Zan also despised Yuan Shao.

Han Fu surrendered Ji Province to Yuan Shao, and Yuan Shao broke his promise Gongsun Zan may have sparked the blowout of their relationship, but now that the North is going exactly in the direction he wanted.

Jia Xu: ”My Lord, now that Yuan Shao and Gongsun Zan are fighting, we should strengthen our internal affairs, and I think it’s time that we show our inventions to the world.”

Chen Qun: ”I agree with Master Jia Xu My Lord, it can be said that My Lord and Cao Cao had just been back from a war, and now we can use this time to focus on internal affairs.”

Lie Fan: ”I agree, it’s time for us to show some of our inventions and focus on our internal affairs. Jia Xu, how is the conspiracy I have given to Oriolw to do?”

Jia Xu: ”My Lord it’s going well, They have infiltrated Yuan Shu’s court and slowly becoming Yuan Shu’s favorite. I didn’t expect that My Lord thought of such a plan!”

Chen Gui: ”Jia Xu what plan are you talking about?”

Jia Xu: ”My Lord may I share this with the others?”

Lie Fan nodded his head, Jia Xu then told everyone here Advisors and generals alike that this couldn’t be shared with others, just like the existence of the Oriole.

After receiving everyone’s agreement, Jia Xu explained that after their meeting preparing against Yuan Shu, Lie Fan approached him and told him of a plan that could legitimate their attack on Yuan Shu.

Lie Fan made a fake Imperial Seal, of course without the golden corner, and gave it to Jia Xu for the Oriole member to infiltrate Yuan Shu’s court, and after gaining his favor, gave the fake Imperial seal to Yuan Shu.

At this time Yuan Shu must have felt that heaven chose him, so the Oriole members slowly fan the ambition growing on Yuan Shu’s mind, telling him to increase his soldiers, raise more taxes to fill the Imperial treasury, and many other things that fan the ambition.

When the time is right, the Oriole members will push Yuan Shu to declare himself Emperor, and at that time they will be the first to attack Yuan Shu in the name of the Han Dynasty, inviting Cao Cao to join them.

After Jia Xu finished explaining the plan, everyone was surprised as this plan was very sinister and only a fool like Yuan Shu would believe this. They praised Lie Fan for thinking of such a plan, and Lie Fan only waved his hand.

Lie Fan: ”That plan will need some time to bore fruition, Sun Qian and Zhuge Jin will go to Kong Zhou and Lu Kang tomorrow so do your best to persuade them, the biggest concession I can make is for them to hold their position right now.”

Sun Qian: ”Don’t worry My Lord, we will try our best to persuade them and make them see the bigger picture of their future.”

Zhuge Jin: ”Lu Kang and the Lu Clan are hard to handle My Lord, but they can’t stand a chance while squeezed between My Lord and Liu Biao’s territory.”

Lie Fan: ”Mi Zhu and Ren Jun, how many troops I can sustain with the economy and supply we have now?”

Mi Zhu: ”My Lord, you have 160,000 men right now. My Lord can recruit between 50,000 to 70,000 men, that’s the limit we can have.”

Lie Fan: ”That will do, Cao Cao will surely increase the numbers of his troops, so we also have to increase our numbers. By the way Jia Xu, how is Gan Ning’s response to my invitation?”

Jia Xu: ”Gan Ning has accepted our invitation to meet at Guangling My Lord, we still need to wait as he is sailing from a town on the border between Yi and Jing Province.”

Lie Fan nodded his head, at this time the court was dismissed and Lie Fan returned to Lie Clan’s residence, spending the rest of the day with his family, accompanying his wives and playing with his children.

While spending time with his wives, Lie Fan saw Wannian 14 years old now playing with Sima Yi who is 12 years old this year, seeing how close they have grown suddenly he felt they were like him and Ying Yue.

Lie Fan immediately shook his head, shoving away that notion from his head. He couldn’t allow his sister to be too close to boys, so he called the two of them and played alongside them.

The next day, Sun Qian and Zhuge Jin embarked on their mission to try and persuade Kong Zhou and Lu Kang to submit to Lie Fan. They estimated that they would return bearing news in two months, so at that time anything could happen, especially at Runan which were Yuan Shu’s Capital.
