Lie Fan agrees with this, Huangfu Song will become the commander of the City Guards, while Zhu Jun can be assigned to one of the 4 armies. Zhu Jun was assigned to Zhang Chao, Jia Xu thought about it and agreed with this, he told Lie Fan that he would ask Cai Yong to write the letter about the appointment tomorrow.

After that, Lie Fan and Jia Xu say goodbye to each other, Lie Fan enters the mansion and heads toward the dining room where his family is waiting for him, they said inner together and Wannian livens the atmosphere, making the dinner full of joy.

The next day, Lie Fan is standing in front of the Governor’s Castle, with Jia Xu and all of his advisors, seeing Chen Qun and Sun Qian who are leaving for Chenliu to discuss a possible Military alliance with Cao Cao.

Lie Fan told Ze Ring to keep both Chen Qun and Sun Qian safe, their priority is to stay alive and to leave everything behind except for their life, as they don’t know what Cao Cao does and what danger is on the road to Chenliu.

Ze Rong promises to keep both Chen Qun and Sun Qian, he assures that the 1,000 Guard Battalion can eliminate even 5,000 men. Lie Fan pats his shoulder, telling Ze Rong to keep calm-headed and not be too arrogant as arrogance can become a downfall.

Chen Qun and Sun Qian check the gifts they will bring one last time, and seeing that everything is ready, they say goodbye to everyone there and ask for their prayer for the alliance to be successful.

Lie Fan told them to remember what they discussed yesterday and don’t forget to be cautious as Cao Cao is a capable person in his own right and don’t let him control the narrative.

So began the journey of Chen Qun, Sun Qian, and Ze Rong with the 1,000 Guards Battalion and 2 wagons full of gifts toward Chenliu, they passed by Liu Dai’s territory where they met with Liu Dai’s patrols and after knowing that it was Lie Fan’s men they were allowed to pass.

Liu Dai was in his office, doing some paperwork when reports about Lie Fan’s men passing through his territory arrived. Liu Dai was surprised and asked if they knew the purpose of Lie Fan’s men passing through.

The soldiers who brought the news said that Lie Fan’s men were heading toward Chenliu, it looked like some kind of diplomacy envoy as they brought gifts. Liu Dai asked his advisors, what’s the meaning of this move.

Cheng Yu, Liu Dai’s advisor told him that this meant that Lie Fan most likely is trying to enter some sort of agreement even an alliance with Cao Cao, which could threaten his position as he was in the middle of them.

Liu Dai nodded his head but said that he had entered an alliance with both Yuan Shao and Gongsun Zan, so he had the upper hand against Cao Cao and Lie Fan if they ever attacked him.

Cheng Yu counters Liu Dai’s argument, saying that Yuan Shao and Gongsun Zan are fighting Han Fu right now, for control over Ji Province. They don’t have the time and manpower to send them reinforcement.

Even though Han Fu is timid, he is a capable administrator and has talents that serve him, so the war between him and Yaun Shao-Gongsun Zan can last for a while maybe a year or two.

Liu Dai was silent for a while and told to send letters to Bao Xin, to hurry to handle the Yellow Turbans or he would go himself to end the Uprising.

Liu Dai and his subjects are in the scramble, afraid of Lie Fan and Cao Cao’s alliance that will squeeze them into the middle, Chen Qun and Sun Qian stop at Zhongmu County in Henan to take a rest.

Chen Qun and Sun Qian stay in an Inn, Ze Romg is with them alongside 5 guard battalion members guarding them, and the rest of the Battalion Guards are camping outside the town.

While waiting for their lunch to be served, They were approached by two men. Ze Rong who saw this became vigilant, along with the guard battalion who deceived Ze Rong’s eye command.

The two men who saw this smiled at them, and said that they come here to talk, as they heard that they were Lie Fan’s envoy. Chen Qun and Sun Qian looked at each other and told the two men to sit with them.

Ren Jun: ”Thank you for giving us the chance to talk with the honored guest, I’m Ren Jun registrar of Zhongmu County, and this is Zhang Feng an official in Zhongmu County.”

Chen Qun: ”Sir Ren Jun, Sir Zhang Feng pleased to meet you, I’m Chen Qun and this is Sun Qian, we are Lord Lie Fan’s advisor.”

Ren Jun: ”Governor Lie Fan advisors?! Sorry for my amazement, I never thought that I would meet such important people under Governor Lie Fan.”

Sun Qian: ”It’s okay we understand, we are just passing through Henan to complete our lord’s order. Does sir Ren Jun have something you wanted to talk about?”

Ren Jun: ’’Ah yes Master Chen Qun and Master Sun Qian, the truth is me and Zhang Feng have long admired Govermor’s Lie Fan name. We wanted to serve him but are held back by our duties here in Zhongmu.”

Chen Qun: ”Ah that’s great news, more talented people to serve under My Lord, seeing as you became a registrar at a relatively young age, I think you have the talent to serve our lord.”

Sun Qian: ”That’s true Master Chen Qun, since the two of you have a dream to serve our lord, what about your position here in Zhongmu and your family?”

Ren Jun: ”Of course, we will resign from our post here in Zhingmu, as for our family we will bring them alongside us.”

Chen Qun nodded his head, and then he asked about Yang Yuan the Prefect of Zhongmu who promised him to register, how would he react if Ren Jun and Zhang Feng resigned from their post and served Lie Fan who can be considered enemies to Liu Dai, Yang Yuan lord.

Ren Jun told them that Yang Yuan became the Intendant of Henan thanks to his advice, now being trusted by Liu Dai and Zhongmu Count hasn’t gotten a Prefect since then.

All the soldiers they recruited in Zhongmu were dome by Ren Jun and Zhang Feng, so they wanted to bring the soldiers numbering about 3,000 men.

Ren Jun also explained that if Chen Qun and Sun Qian could sponsor him to meet Lie Fan, He would bring their families, relatives, servants, and retainers numbering about a few hundred people to serve Lie Fan.

Chen Qun and Sun Qian were surprised by this, looks like Ren Jun and Zhang Feng were serious about wanting to join them, even bringing some pretty large bargaining chips that could weaken Liu Dai’s military force.

After some private discussion between the two of them, They finally agreed to sponsor Ren Jun and Zhang Feng saying to give one letter to the governor’s castle guard, and the other one to Lie Fan when they finally meet him.

Both Chen Qun and Sun Qian are master politicians and diplomats, they can read people’s faces and movements and have concluded that there’s no sign of deception from Ren Jun and Zhang Feng.

Ren Jun and Zhang Feng thanked both Chen Qun and Sun Qian profusely, saying that they were grateful that both of them agreed to sponsor him and Zhang Feng.

Ze Rong at this time chimes in, saying that for the 3,000 men Ren Jun will bring to be stationed at any camp outside of Xiapi, he gave him a token that symbolizes his authority to be shown to Ling Cao who will help them in stationing their men.

Ren Jun thanked Ze Rong for his help, after their purpose was achieved, Ren Jun and Zhang Feng said goodbye to the three of them, saying that they would prepare their things and the soldiers for heading towards Xiapi.

Chen Qun and Sun Qian wished them success and were accepted by Lie Fan, at that time they would become part of Lie Fan’s retainers. Ren Jun and Zhang Feng left the inn, heading towards their residence and informing their families of their new Chapter in life.

The next day, when Chen Qun, Sun Qian, and Ze Eing along with the 1,000 Guard Battalion 2 wagons left Zhongmu County, Ren Jun, and Zhang Feng began to use their power to usurp Zhingmu County soldiers.

Their relatives, servants, and retainers were told of their decision, saying that they would live a better life in Xiapi serving Lie Fan rather than serving Liu Dai, who can’t even handle remnants of Yellow Turbans.

Some of the officials of Zhongmu County heard about Ren Jun and Zhang Feng’s actions when they wanted to report this to Yang Yuan, they were eliminated by the Orioles who are stationed in Zhongmu County.

For the Oriole, Ren Jun and Zhang Feng will serve their lord then they are on the same team, the Oriole helping both of them eliminate whistleblowers that wanted to report Ren Jun and Zhang Feng to Yang Yuan.

When Yang Yuan heard about what happened at Zhongmu County, he could only smash his table for the betrayal as Ren Jun and Zhang Feng had long gone from Zhongmu County now heading towards Xiapi.

Back to Chen Qun and Sun Qian, when they arrived at Chenliu they had spent 1 month and a half on their travel. The arrival of Lie Fan’s envy surprised Cao Cao and his retainers, Cao Cao told everyone to welcome Lei Fan’s envoys warmly as Cao Cao and Lie Fan can be considered friends.

Chen Qun and Sun Qian alongside Ze Rong we’re welcomed at the Governor’s Castle, Cao Cao personally led his retainers to welcome them, and for Cao Cao, this could become the opportunity of a lifetime.

In the main hall, after the servants serve some tea to Chen Qun, Sun Qian, and Ze Rong, Cao Cao introduces his advisors to them. There is Xi Zhicai and Xun Yu, the two men whom Chen Qun and Sun Qian were told to be cautious of by Lie Fan.

After the introduction, Cao Cao asked Chen Qun the leader of the envoy the reason for them to come here. Chen Qun stands up from his seat, he explains to Cao Cao how Lie Fan wishes to enter a military alliance alongside him for the next 5 years.

Cao Cao was interested in the prospect of allying with Lie Fan, as Lie Fan right now is the powerhouse in the Central Plains. Xi Zhicai stood up, he asked Chen Qun if Cao Cao would allow himself with Lie Fan, and what kind of benefits would be given to Cao Cao as Lie Fan was the initiator of this alliance.
