Lu Bu and Lady Yan just sigh, Lu Lingqi has grown up but the target of her liking is Lie Fan, which confuses them as they only meet 1 time and that’s not in a friendly situation, they even fight against each other. Lu Bu has a headache as these rumors can cause more rift in his relationship with the old pig Dong Zhuo, that’s when a servant tells him that Dong Zhuo is summoning him to the palace.

Lu Bu replied that he would come to the palace as fast as he could, he told both Lady Yana and Lu Lingqi to stay low for now, as Dong Zhuo must have heard about the rumors surrounding Lu Lingqi.

Lady Yan nodded her head, telling Lu Bu to be careful and calm when meeting Dong Zhuo, while Lu Linqi put her head down, feeling guilty for causing trouble for her father, and scolded herself inwardly at how she was seen by others.

Lu Lingqi actually doesn’t love or like Lie Fan, she is just interested in the man who defeats her easily and can contest against her father, even though with help which shows his skills.

Having such prowess at such a young age shows that Lie Fan trained himself since little, maybe training at a younger age than her when first time being taught thy her father.

Lu Bu saw that his daughter felt guilty for causing trouble, so he gently scratched Lu Lingqi’s head and said that it was not her fault, it’s his job as a father to treat her daughter even if the whole world becomes his enemy, same as her mother who he will protect I’ll the end of time.

Lady Yan and Lu Lingqi were touched by Lu Bu’s words, this is a rare time that Lu Bu talked gently comforting them. Usually, he was brash and loud when talking, so Lady Yan always reprimanded him gently about this.

Lu Bu heads out to meet Dong Zhuo at the palace, when they meet Doing Zhuo angrily asks Lu Bu about the rumors that Lu Lingqi is smitten with Lie Fan.

Lu Bu faced Dong Zhuo with a cold face, replying to Dong Zhuo by saying that that it was not true and just a baseless rumor, how could Lu Lingqi be smitten with Lie Fan, whom she literally fought on Hulao Pass in a duel.

Dong Zhuo is already being controlled by liquor and anger, he throws his cup to Lu Bu and says that he doesn’t believe him. Saying that he only tried to protect Lu Lingqi by denying the rumor, as who doesn’t know how he is very protective of Lu Lingqi.

Lu Bu was angered by Dong Zhuo’s actions when he wanted to approach Dong Zhuo who he could see was drunk, Li Ru approached him and persuaded Lu Bu to calm him down, saying that Dong Zhuo was not himself right now.

Lu Bu only snorted and turned around leaving the room, this incident has soured the relationship between Dong Zhuo and Lu Bu. Wang Yun who have heard the news was ecstatic and prepared to release the second part of the rumor.

While all of that was happening in Chang’An, Lie Fan was in Huai’An visiting his secret harbor as he was told that Hwacha had been installed in one of the Fuchuan Warships, and he was invited to see the trial.

Lie Fan is accompanied by Jia Xu and Ling Cao along with his bodyguards, He has seen Hwacha in his previous lives through pictures and videos, it can be said to be a marvel to look at, as it can become an artillery and siege weapon.

Due to its easy nature to be brought anywhere due to it being equipped with a cart, it can be fired from anywhere but it has low accuracy that’s why it was equipped with 100-200 arrows in each shot.

A loose formation can escape the rain of arrows, while a tight formation will have hell gained upon them. That is why Lie Fan thought of Installing it on a ship, as at this time there’s no long-range weapon artillery except for catapults.

Bowes are generally used in ancient China naval battles, and board ships to enter melee combat. Now imagine Hwacha firing 100-200 arrows at a close range towards approaching ships, it would catch on fire and kill the enemy soldiers.

Lie Fan: ”Jia Xu, when will the trial start?”

Jia Xu: ”Soon My Lord, they inspect the Hwacha installed on them as they installed 5 Hwacha.”

Lie Fan: ”Five?! Isn’t it too many? And they could produce the Hwacha’s that fast?”

Jia Xu: ”They said that it’s easy to make once they manage to make one and pass the trial test. They installed 2 on each side, and 1 on the from of the ship. The ones on the side were put on the hull, where they made special windows that can be opened and closed, and the one at the front was on the deck to target the sails.”

Lie Fan: ”Alright just follow what they suggested, if the trial is a success, then we need to search for a talented navy commander.”

Jia Xu: ”Through the Intelligence network made by Oriole at Jing Province and entering bits of Yi Province, I heard a notorious young pirate captain named Gan Ning who maybe My Lord can recruit. Also, there’s a navy commander named Chen Jiu under Huang Zu, Liu Biao’s navy admiral who is dissatisfied with his assignment.”

Lie Fan: ”Gan Ning?! What a unique name, try to contact him through the Oriole, tell him that I want to meet him, give him some gifts, and tell him there’s more gift coming if he agrees to meet me at Guangling.”

Jia Xu: ”Yes My Lord! But what about Chen Jiu? Do we also contact him?”

Lie Fan: ”Yes try to contact him, and probe him to see if he wants to abandon his post at Jing Province and join our side.”

Lie Fan was surprised that the Orioles managed to hear news of Gan Ning, if he could invite this man he would have one of the best navy commanders. On the other hand, He has never heard of Chen Jiu but if Jia Xu recommends him his abilities are not that bad.

Lie Fan and Jia Xu were conversing with each other, Ling Cao and his bodyguards were on standby, to protect them from any threats.

At this time the leader of the craftsman and shipwrights approached Lie Fan and Jia Xu, saying that they were ready for the trial. Lie Fan and Jia Xu follow both leaders as they stand at a viewing platform.

From the docks, one of the Sichuan warships set sail toward the open sea near the harbor, where Lie Fan could see that some fishing boats and even old warships were anchored there waiting for the approaching warship.

When the Fuchuan Warship approached one of the old warships, the Hwacha at the front was fired, and it shot toward the target. The sound can be heard faintly, like a hysterical screaming child in the open sea.

100 arrow was shot, and 70% of them hit the target, the warship was riddled with arrows that were powered like a rocket pierced the ship, causing massive damage to its exterior and interior.

If there are enemy soldiers there, they will be dead by now and even if they weren’t dead, they will be traumatized or incapable of fighting against the boarding troops. It also hit the sails, riddling them full of holes.

Lie Fan could the damage caused by the Hwacha, he nodded his head when it could pierce through the wood as the Hwacha completely pierced a scarecrow armed with a suit of armor and shield, at a range of about 100 meters.

Everyone was happy that the first weapon yes succeeded, the broadside Hwacha opened fire at the fishing boats and warships that were on their range. The ships were filled with holes and some even started to sink particularly the smaller boats as water entered through the holes in their hull.

Lie Fan clapped his hand, followed by Jia Xu, Ling Cao, and the others who soon followed suit. The success of Hwacha being combined with the Fuchuan Warship means that Lie Fan’s navy will dominate the sea.

After seeing its impact on the sea, Lie Fan can’t imagine what if he had 10 Hwacha firing 100-200 arrows simultaneously at the approaching enemies, the equivalent of firing 1,000 to 2,000 powered arrows at the enemies.

Lie Fan congratulated the people who made this work and gave them bonus wages as an appreciation for their hard work. The success of the Hwacha bolstered the confidence of the craftsmen and shipwrights, burning them with the spirit to make more.

Lie Fan told Jia Xu to have a special team that crafted arrows, as they needed many of them seeing as the Hwacha itself would launch between 100 to 200 arrows per shot and the Archers and Crosbows battalion also needed arrows.

Jia Xu agree with Lie Fan’s word, he will convey this to the craftsmen to make more arrows, Lie Fan also adds that their soldiers need to be trained in swimming, as when they launch a full-scale invasion at one point, they will bring all of their soldiers.

Lie Fan and Jia Xu converse about some military matters, Lie Fan visits his parents after seeing his trial test of the Hwacha. Lie Shang and Yu Yan nagged at Lie Fan, telling him to keep Ying Yue safe and happy as she is pregnant with their grandchild now.

Lie Fan just nods his head and keeps promising to take care of Ying Yue. Lie Fan spends some time with them, eating together and doing some activities together.

After spending 3 days in Huai’An, Lie Fan headed back to Xiapi, spending 15 days before he arrived at Xiapi. Lie Fan returns to the Lie Clan residence, Ying Yue is now 5 months pregnant and her belly has grown big.

She likes to walk in the garden, enjoying the sound and breeze passing by, seeing Ying Yue closing her eyes with the sun shining on her, Lie Fan was fascinated by her beauty, come close to her, and hug her from the back.
