Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Qiu Bowen immediately agreed. ”That’s totally fine. But Phase Ships currently only exist in the lab—the Ship Lab. The Legion Commander already granted you access.”

”If you need one, we can build a dedicated ship for you. You can go pick it up anytime.”

”You just need to be aware that our research on Phase Ships is still in the development stage. Every Phase Ship is an experimental model, absolutely not a warship that can go onto the battlefield.”

”If you really need a complete ship, then you’ll have to cooperate a bit with the experiments. Your Spiritual Energy will definitely be a big help.”

”I have to make all this clear to you in advance.”

Chen Ming nodded. ”No problem. I already planned to go to the Ship Research Institute; it’s just that for now the Spiritual Ability Research Institute is my main focus.”

As for when to go to the Ship Research Institute, Chen Ming estimated it would be around the mid-stage of the war.

Because right now he’s going to the Spiritual Ability Research Institute for two things.

One is to research countermeasures against the Mechanical Race’s Spiritual Hive Mind Network, and all kinds of plans for their Spiritual Ability Equipment. The other is to study stable cultivation of the Enlightenment Nerve.

The first one is the important part.

Once the Empire’s early-stage war with the Mechanical Race has more or less played out, and they’ve obtained more detailed intel on the Mechanical Race, having figured out the fundamentals of those new Spiritual Weapons the Mechanical Race is fielding...

The Spiritual Ability Research Institute most likely won’t be the main force of the war anymore.

In the end, wars are won by warships.

So he’ll have to go to the Ship Research Institute sooner or later, and Chen Ming will have to get involved with Phase Ship research sooner or later.

Having gotten Chen Ming’s answer, Qiu Bowen didn’t keep talking about irrelevant things.

He agreed to Chen Ming’s request very decisively.

When the time comes, he’ll personally swallow his pride and ask for a favor; the Ship Research Institute definitely won’t mind giving Chen Ming a ship.

After confirming that there really was nothing more for him to do here, Chen Ming stood up.

He wanted to go back to the Spiritual Ability Research Institute and continue working on his projects.

And while he was at it, he needed to summarize the gains from this small-scale operation.

It had to be said.

Even though the scale of this operation was pretty small, he still got a lot out of it.

That piece of special audio, that special Mechanical Race Cruiser—both of them held secrets. Chen Ming had to dig those secrets out.

Just as Chen Ming walked out of the conference room, only a few steps in, using Spiritual Energy to review his gains...

Bai Quan followed him out and called out to him.

”Got a minute? Let’s talk?”

”Sure.”

After Chen Ming agreed, Bai Quan led him to another empty room on their floor.

Once the door was closed, Bai Quan asked curiously, ”What exactly was that audio?”

Chen Ming asked, a bit speechless, ”You dragged me over here just to ask that?”

”Not entirely, I’m just curious.”

”...”

Although it was a bit hard to stay composed, Chen Ming still answered seriously, ”My ship received a communication frequency, and from that frequency I heard some special sounds—but none of you could hear them.”

”So my preliminary guess is that the sound came from that Phase creature. I plan to use the excuse of asking for a Phase Ship to visit the Ship Research Institute and see if I can use Phase Space-related tech to process the audio.”

”I see.”

Having satisfied his curiosity, Bai Quan finally got to the main topic. ”I just received a message: there’s a rumor spreading outside.”

”What rumor?”

”Some people are questioning whether you deliberately let the fleet get attacked by the Mechanical Race.”
