Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chen Ming finally saw the Legion Commander in person.

The Legion Commander looked to be in his forties, which was quite young for someone of his rank.

He didn’t have a beard and was very tidy.

If he weren’t wearing a military uniform and instead regular clothes, he might look even younger.

But it was this youthful face that gave Chen Ming a sense of gravity.

The Legion Commander greeted Chen Ming first, ”Hello, Chen Ming.”

”Hello, Legion Commander.”

”First, I must apologize for the events of today.”

As he spoke, the Legion Commander placed a hand on his chest and bowed to Chen Ming, completely unfazed by the difference in their status and position.

”There’s been a problem within the Legion, and I must take full responsibility.”

Chen Ming nodded slightly.

The Legion Commander had shown sufficient sincerity.

Now, he was ready to listen intently to what the Legion Commander would say next.

He didn’t want empty promises; he wanted things of genuine value.

”All individuals involved in this incident will be dealt with, and all measures will be conducted in the strictest manner.”

Chen Ming wasn’t particularly interested in the follow-up for these people, but he still listened as the Legion Commander outlined their subsequent dealings.

Anyway, anyone involved would essentially be spending a few years or even a decade in prison.

Then, it was time for the specifics of the compensation plan.

”Let’s start with the non-material compensation.”

”The Legion can compensate you with honorary membership in the Ship Research Institute.”

”Oh?”

Chen Ming’s eyes suddenly lit up; he was quite interested in the Ship Research Institute.

Because there, they possessed many Main Ship-level technologies.

Although Chen Ming could learn from Extraordinary, Extraordinary only had partial mastery of Main Ships, namely the design blueprints for the Dusk Main Battlecruiser.

Human faction’s Main Ship technology was completely unfamiliar to him.

But the Main Ships weren’t the most crucial aspect.

The manufacturing technology for giant shipyards was also developed by the Ship Research Institute.

After all, once a ship is researched, they have to figure out how to manufacture such a colossal entity.

Yet, compared to Main Ships and giant shipyards, there was something even more important.

Star Gate.

The design for Star Gate also came from the Ship Research Institute.

If he could join the Ship Research Institute, it would benefit Chen Ming in ways that are hard to match elsewhere.

But...

”Are you sure I won’t just be a nominal member?”

”Of course, not just a nominal honorary member. The Legion offers you a status with extremely high access; you can freely engage in any research projects and laboratories.”

”As long as you don’t pretend to guide what you don’t understand, or leak any researchers’ achievements.”

The Legion Commander spoke directly, but Chen Ming didn’t find his tone abrupt; rather, it seemed quite normal.

”Any academic questions you need to ask can be asked using this status.”

”They will cooperate with you.”

Chen Ming confirmed, ”It’s like putting all the Legion’s technology right in front of me.”

”Aren’t you part of our Fourteenth Legion?”

The Legion Commander asked rhetorically, and continued, ”Beyond that, we can also offer you honorary membership in the Spiritual Ability Research Institute and the Shimmering Civilization Research Institute.”

Shimmering Civilization.

That was the true name of the civilization Chen Ming had always been in contact with, their self-title.

A research institute dedicated to the Shimmering Civilization...

Chen Ming couldn’t imagine how many things there would pique his interest.

And on the side of the Spiritual Ability Research Institute, although Chen Ming had connections through He Gu, which would certainly be no problem for him to visit a couple of times.

However, the status of honorary member obviously avoids many issues.

Combining these three honorary memberships covers technology, spiritual energy, and another civilization comprehensively.

Honestly, it’s quite tempting.

Yet, Chen Ming didn’t rush to agree and instead continued to look at the Legion Commander.

The Legion Commander didn’t disappoint him.

”You have the list of supplies from the Spiritual Ability Research Institute, right? You can choose any three items from it.”

”Choose freely?”

”Choose freely.”

”Immortal Spirit Tree Seed.”

”You’ll have to get that from the Spiritual Ability Research Institute later, as I don’t have it with me.”

The Legion Commander smiled at Chen Ming, ”Alright, that’s everything.”

”I imagine there’s nothing else you’d be interested in. Will these suffice for your satisfaction?”

Chen Ming pretended to consider for a moment and replied, ”That’s good enough.”

As Chen Ming spoke, the liquid metal enveloping the entire building instantly vanished into thin air.

The Legion Commander glanced around with interest before turning his gaze back to Chen Ming.

”Very well, then I must be going. I have other matters to attend to. The aftermath of this situation will be monitored, and they will handle everything properly.”

”If they don’t manage it well...”

The Legion Commander took out a piece of paper from the pocket of his military uniform, wrote a few words, and handed it to Chen Ming.

”Just call this number, and I’ll handle it personally.”

”By the way, I heard you’re getting engaged in a couple of days?”

”Yes.”

”I certainly won’t be able to attend your engagement party, but I must give you a gift.”

He reached into his pocket again and pulled out something that was surely prepared in advance to give to Chen Ming.

It was a box made of Silent Alloy.

Inside this box were two Spiritual Stones that looked extremely special.

They had a mysterious connection with each other.

And the attribute of these two Spiritual Stones was love.
