Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Facing Qiu Bowen’s request, Chen Ming asked, ”What do you want to do?”

”I want your fleet to wait there temporarily until the legion’s fleet arrives for further investigation.”

”If your fleet suffers any losses, the legion will cover it for you.”

”Now is a very good opportunity.”

”What opportunity?”

Seeing Chen Ming’s lack of interest, Qiu Bowen could only explain persuasively, ”Where your fleet is located now, an important base belonging to the Mechanical Race has just been destroyed, and the forces surrounding the Mechanical Race must be at their weakest, which happens to be the Mechanical Race’s vulnerability.”

”There are plenty of Mechanical Race wreckages to be obtained, including samples of their mechanical Spiritual Creatures that we currently only have a preliminary understanding of.”

”Researching these wreckages definitely yields great benefits.”

”It’s clear to everyone that this must be a new colonial base developed by the Mechanical Race recently, with a complete level of industrialization ready for expansion.”

”There will certainly be the most advanced technological applications belonging to the Mechanical Race here.”

”Our technology is developing, and so is the Mechanical Race’s. Acquiring their advanced technology is beneficial.”

”Furthermore, this planet itself has its value.”

”Being chosen as a base for the Mechanical Race suggests this star system has unique features, making it very likely the Mechanical Race won’t abandon it,

”We can leave something belonging to humans on it, which will be useful in the future.”

”We absolutely cannot miss this.”

Having ended the rational explanation, Qiu Bowen knew Chen Ming was not one to act without seeing benefits, so he continued to entice him with incentives.

”Initially, this operation was only part of your task, but if you agree to continue, it can be considered an additional invitation from the frontline military department on Galor’s side for you to participate in a task aimed at achieving military objectives.”

Fearing Chen Ming might misunderstand, Qiu Bowen reiterated, ”In executing military tasks, some military units lacking confidence in their capabilities may invite other similar military departments to join.”

”Typically, it involves exchanges of economics, resources, or technology between the two departments as a return for the invitation.”

”Personal invitations are rare, but not without precedent.”

”Inter-department communication is managed by higher-level departments, carrying out resource exchanges between two military organizations, followed by personnel dispatch.”

”Internally, dispatched personnel are granted Contribution Points or other rewards, which is our legion’s rule.”

Bai Quan interjected suddenly, adding, ”Actually, our legion is also part of the frontline military department. Participating in the frontline military department is the legion itself, along with several other legions and the Star Realm Joint Front that Galor is involved in.”

”The current operation is equivalent to an adjustment of personnel between the frontline military department’s legion and the legion itself.”

Chen Ming frowned and pondered Bai Quan’s meaning, then retorted, ”What about this line your own pockets?”

Qiu Bowen quickly denied, ”You can’t say it like that since you are the independent head of the Extraordinary Research Institute, under Bai Quan’s branch name. The legion can only dispatch you with Bai Quan and the Legion Commander, but whether you listen is another matter.”

”So, when the Legion Commander is on the other side of the front line, and Bai Quan is not at his post, no one can arbitrarily dispatch you.”

”In theory, this is truly the only way to dispatch you.”

”Although, truthfully speaking, it might be somewhat non-compliant, your situation is quite special, and no one will fuss over it, provided you accept it.”

Qiu Bowen spoke in a considerably tactful manner, but Chen Ming still couldn’t help but say, ”Isn’t this still lining your own pockets?”

Qiu Bowen rubbed his forehead: ”The legion doesn’t need to resort to this to earn resources or anything; the accounts will be balanced, and no one will suffer losses.”

”No losses?” Chen Ming pondered for a moment and asked, ”It’s equivalent to resources circulating between the frontline and the legion, creating Contribution Points for me out of nowhere, right?”

Candidly revealing the truth made Qiu Bowen a bit embarrassed, and he nodded slightly: ”If you understand it that way, then so be it, after all, Contribution Points aren’t handed out casually, there must be a reason, and this is the reason.”

Frankly, Chen Ming felt this was a bit too... political, but since he’s the beneficiary, he honestly didn’t have much to say against this.

Though, he still needed to ask about some key issues: ”If I don’t have anyone considered as superiors, how are Contribution Points calculated?”

Bai Quan answered on behalf of Qiu Bowen: ”Under normal circumstances, based on the resource exchange ratio between the frontline military department and the legion, I get a share of Contribution Points, and I distribute them,

”There’s a minimum proportion requirement for how many Contribution Points I must give you, the rest I can keep for myself, or give all to you, usually in any situation, it’s directly all given.”

”Contribution Points are a unique way for Psychics to quantify military merits; who would unscrupulously embezzle this?”

”The distributor also receives additional rewards, there’s no need to embezzle this petty amount.”

Qiu Bowen immediately continued: ”But Bai Quan is not in the branch now, not within his jurisdiction, so the legion will directly allocate Contribution Points to your head.”
