Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Love affinity.

This characteristic was discussed by Chen Ming with He Gu when he was on He Gu’s spaceship, referring to a special characteristic possessed by a certain Spiritual Stone.

These types of Spiritual Stones typically appear in pairs.

They have heart-shaped patterns similar to obsession but are softer, and when two Spiritual Stones are put together, the pattern on the surface can be seen as connecting.

Although its fundamental effect is the same as ordinary Spiritual Stones.

Whatever effects ordinary Spiritual Stones have, it also has. It affects the psychological state of Psychics and provides a slight boost to Spiritual Power.

But what sets it apart from ordinary Spiritual Stones is that it appears in pairs and has a special effect related to love affinity.

When two love affinity Spiritual Stones are held by different Psychics, they can establish a Spiritual Power link channel based on these stones.

Using their own Spiritual Energy and Spiritual Power as a foundation, they amplify each other’s spiritual aspects.

Moreover, they can soothe each other’s emotions, with an effect somewhat similar to tenderness.

In addition, these Spiritual Stones allow Psychics to perceive each other’s mental state.

This allows two Psychics linked through love affinity Spiritual Stones to provide more Spiritual Power amplification aid in critical moments.

All this requires that there is mutual ”love affinity” between the two Psychics for it to be effective.

The higher the affection for each other, the better the effect.

It is said that when the affection level rises, Psychics can even engage in direct mental conversation.

Although the Empire already has superluminal communication methods, so this ability isn’t too important.

However, not all areas in the universe have the Empire’s superluminal communication base stations, so this ability still has value.

More importantly, when the affectionate level between two Psychics exceeds a certain threshold, they can even use each other’s Spiritual Energy effects.

Of course, the most outrageous ability is currently just a theoretical conjecture by the Spiritual Ability Research Institute.

The actual effects are still unclear.

After all, the conditions for using these love affinity Spiritual Stones are a bit stringent.

They require both users to be Psychics and genuinely have mutual affection.

Moreover, the affection feature is also influenced by other nature of Psychic items.

Which means that for ordinary Psychics, they could hold one type of Psychic equipment while possessing another type of Spiritual Stone, separated from each other, and used when needed.

But the love affinity Spiritual Stones require both Psychics to wear them for long periods, not arbitrarily switchable.

Psychic couples do exist, but many are purely political marriages for benefits.

Only a small proportion of Psychic couples genuinely have pure feelings for each other.

This greatly narrows the applicability of love affinity Spiritual Stones and reduces the possibility of them being studied.

Moreover.

Love affinity Spiritual Stones have negative effects.

Once Psychics use these stones to establish a mental link, this link cannot be severed.

If broken, it would cause a significant Mind Shock to the user.

And once the love affinity diminishes, the link will self-terminate.

Not only does the effect of the love affinity Spiritual Stone become nominally void, if both parties aren’t prepared, the consequences could be quite serious.

An even more critical situation is when one party in the love affinity relationship dies.

If such a thing happens, the mind of the other party in the relationship will experience an unprecedented blow.

Research on this is relatively sparse, and even within the entire Empire, there are only two cases.

One is a pair of Psychic spouses who possessed love affinity Spiritual Stones, and after one person died due to an accident, the other Psychic immediately descended into irretrievable madness.

The other case was slightly better.

A pair of Psychic spouses over a hundred years old with love affinity Spiritual Stones, with one nearing brain death due to old age.

Brain death is inevitable even with current technology.

This couple chose to actively cooperate with the Fan Chao Research Institute’s experiment.

At the moment before death, external forces were used to forcibly break the love affinity Spiritual Power link.

The result was that the still-living Psychic did not descend into madness, and under the protection of the experimental personnel, remained perfectly unharmed, with the Mind Shock from the link completely blocked.

However, this Psychic died not long after from overwhelming grief and age issues, barely considered dying of old age in peace.

But that was a special case.

A case where the person was already nearing natural death, with a capable Psychic nearby to provide protection, ensuring the user’s safety upon the death of one of the linked parties using love affinity Spiritual Stones.

Other times, death is always unexpected.

So, love affinity Spiritual Stones themselves can only be considered rare and generally just possess the value of ordinary Spiritual Stones.

However, the Legion Commander gifting it to Chen Ming at this time makes it the most suitable present.

Its inherent value as a Spiritual Stone along with the symbolic meaning it holds, even if not worn for a long time due to negative effects, makes it an extremely fitting gift.

Chen Ming and Cheng Xinghai are both Psychics, and while their feelings aren’t deeply profound, they do have a certain foundation, not purely an emotionless political marriage. It can be used effectively.
