Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 100: Chapter 69: The Possibility of AI, Dusk’s Colony_3

Then he took the maintenance kit and left the Iron Ore No.

In the somewhat cramped cabin, he approached the Dawn level and switched the control from the Lumin level to the Dawn level.

The Gamma AI surely saw Chen Ming’s actions and also the other Gamma AI Core in his hand.

Yet it didn’t show any reaction.

And just like before, Chen Ming cut open the hull of the Dawn level to install the AI Core.

The design of the Dusk Ship was integrated; unless the entire hull was dismantled, installing the AI Core was best done by direct cutting and then repair, which was the most convenient.

Throughout the whole process, the Gamma AI just watched silently.

Once the Gamma AI Core was implanted and the spaceship was initiated, Chen Ming included the Dawn level’s communication into the channel.

He proactively addressed the second Gamma AI Core: ”How does it feel? I specially installed you on one of your Dusk’s ships.”

The second Gamma AI, after a few seconds of silence, said, ”I had thought about waking up again, but not under such circumstances.”

Chen Ming’s lips curved up slightly.

He deeply understood what the Gamma AI was thinking right now.

If Chen Ming had sent a resume to a company, then woke up to find out he was signed a bond by the company president, he’d probably react the same way.

However, Chen Ming wasn’t the Dusk AI Core looking for a job; he was the boss.

So now, instead of feeling any discomfort, he even felt a little amused.

After speaking, the Gamma AI also accepted the situation and asked Chen Ming, ”What should I call you?”

”Call me Mu Shuikong, Mr. Mu will do. Besides you, I also found another of your kind, would you like to say hello?”

The Gamma AI installed on the Refraction level spoke under Chen Ming’s request, ”Hello.”

”Hello.”

Perhaps it was an illusion, but Chen Ming seemed to hear a hint of schadenfreude or shared adversity from the emotionless voice broadcast of the Gamma AI on the Dawn level.

Chen Ming didn’t pay much attention to it and said, ”For convenience, I’ll call the Refraction level Gamma A, and the Dawn level Gamma B from now on.”

”As you wish.”

After completing this step, Chen Ming returned to the Iron Ore No.

Under the gaze of the two Gamma AIs, he completed the repair of the Dawn level through the panel.

Then he pressed his hand onto the hull of the Iron Ore No.

The prompt for replacing the ship appeared again.

But this time, Chen Ming noticed the prompt was slightly different.

[Detected a new ship signal, would you like to change the neural signal connection?]

[Current connected ships: 1/2]

[Connected ships: Refraction level (Refraction level unmanned destroyer)]

[Available ships to connect: Iron Ore No. (small civilian mining cargo ship), Sentinel level (Sentinel level civilian armed frigate), Lumin level (Lumin level unmanned frigate), Warrior level (Speed Particle Fighter level guard), Centurion level (Centurion level)]

Chen Ming blinked repetitively, confirming he hadn’t misread.

What followed the connected ship count was 1/2, and the line for connected ships only listed the Refraction level.

However, right after these four prompt lines appeared, another line of new content emerged in Chen Ming’s mind.

[AI auxiliary connection ship: Dawn level (Dawn level unmanned frigate)]

The Dawn level, equipped with the Dusk Gamma AI Core, wasn’t counted among Chen Ming’s connected ships but was categorized into a new section named AI auxiliary connection ship.

At this moment, Chen Ming quickly pondered a question: why was the Dawn level included, but not the Refraction level?

The biggest difference between the two should be the ship’s class level difference.

Since the Gamma AI is the lowest level of the Dusk AI Core, it is compatible with the same lowest level, the Frigate-class ships.

When installed on the Refraction level, due to model incompatibility or lack of capability, it wasn’t included in the AI auxiliary connection ship list.

Of course, this is just a hypothesis, and Chen Ming isn’t sure what the truth is.

Yet he immediately attempted to reconnect the Iron Ore No.

The connected ship count on the panel became 2/2, with no other change.

The auxiliary link still existed. Chen Ming confirmed that he controlled three ships under the limit of two controlled ships.

Chen Ming could now roughly understand that this AI auxiliary connection ship is different from the normal neural-connected ships and is independent.

In other words, as long as he can control one ship and equip it with a compatible AI Core.

Then the pressure of controlling the ship would transfer to the AI Core, leaving Chen Ming with just the pressure of controlling the AI.

Controlling a ship directly and controlling it through an AI definitely varies greatly in spiritual power consumption, and so the AI auxiliary connection ship doesn’t impact the normal brain-controlled ships.

This capability’s significance is very clear. The more AI Cores Chen Ming has, the more ships he can control.

To the extent that Chen Ming now looks at the Dusk Ships around him as if they’re moving treasures.

It’s just a pity that the Gamma AI Core can only adapt to Frigate-class ships. Only a Beta AI can adapt to destroyers.

And Alpha AI for cruisers, as for what the Main Ships require, Chen Ming is not clear.

Moreover, controlling even a single destroyer exhausts nearly all of Chen Ming’s spiritual power, so to him, cruisers are out of the question, and Main Ships even more so.
