Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 87: Chapter 66: Dusk Strikes Again_3

Just as Chen Ming was having such thoughts.

He suddenly saw the dusk cruiser at the rear flicker with the same azure glow as during the last dusk raid.

The cruiser simultaneously brought other ships along, showing the same glow at the ship’s stern.

In the next moment, they suddenly vanished from the frontline battlefield and appeared behind the space station.

”Blink!”

The name escaped Chen Ming’s lips instinctively, a top-notch technology independently developed by Speed Particle Technology.

The effect was evident.

Having just reached behind the space station, Chen Ming was now directly exposed to the range of the Dusk Fleet’s fire.

Luckily, the space station’s shield was still holding.

Seizing the moment in the last dozen seconds before the shield deactivated, Chen Ming activated the highest strength overload grid, instantly unleashing speed faster than most frigates, and hid below the space station.

In the next moment, the space station’s shield was heavily attacked almost entirely by dusk ships, the intense vibrations causing Chen Ming to worry if the shield would shut down in time before overload.

Fortunately, things didn’t turn for the worst.

The space station didn’t face the catastrophic shield overload issue.

But with the shield now forced offline, it meant a large number of dusk ships had already breached into the shielded zone.

Starting to wreak havoc on the space station.

Just as Chen Ming planned to flee to the other side of the space station.

A dusk destroyer, about two hundred meters long, which had been hovering at the edge of the dusk fleet, suddenly abandoned its attack on the space station and began accelerating with clear intent.

Its target was Chen Ming’s Iron Ore No.

Though the dusk destroyer was huge, its design was far superior to the Iron Ore No., a civilian ship.

The spaceship’s speed didn’t lag behind the already activated overload grid of the Iron Ore No.

In almost an instant, it closed the gap with Iron Ore No., then fired a violently flickering arc ball from its somewhat broad fore.

Iron Ore No. hadn’t even contacted the arc ball when suddenly all equipment onboard failed, and the control panel unexpectedly sparked with an electric burst.

This was a high-intensity electromagnetic pulse.

Chen Ming quickly assessed the situation, immediately activating the repair function on the panel.

But repairs take time, and within that time, the destroyer had already approached Iron Ore No.

Facing the nearly overwhelming superiority, Chen Ming felt tense and utterly puzzled.

Since the dusk destroyer’s actions were indeed bizarre.

It didn’t attack Chen Ming directly, instead resembling some monstrous creature opening its maw at the belly.

With the ship’s front bulky hatch opening, it swallowed the Iron Ore No., damaged by the electromagnetic pulse, directly into its belly.

Chen Ming suddenly understood and realized he still had a chance.

This ship wasn’t here to destroy Iron Ore No.; as Old Wu had mentioned before, it was here to capture human vessels.

Only after Iron Ore No. was completely swallowed did the equipment, damaged by the electromagnetic pulse, get repaired.

Chen Ming quickly activated the floodlights outside the ship, observing various complex mechanical devices surrounding Iron Ore No.

Before he could discern what equipment was inside the ship, a blinding white light engulfed his view.

Within the dusk destroyer’s hold, the electromagnetic pulse reactivated, disabling the recently fixed Iron Ore No. once more.

The entire cabin plunged back into darkness.

And without a chance to repair the incapacitated Iron Ore No., it suddenly moved under external force.

As if securely anchored by electromagnetic chains at the destroyer’s center.

Mechanical sounds emanated from outside Iron Ore No., suggesting the dusk destroyer used devices to latch on, possibly to conduct a detailed scan or other operations on Iron Ore No.

Feeling the peak of tension and unable to control his rapidly beating heart, Chen Ming knew he had to act or lose this opportunity forever.

So he immediately grabbed a cutting tool from his portable repair kit, forcibly sliced open Iron Ore No.’s front window, and climbed outside through the cut.

Footing on Iron Ore No.’s window in the zero-gravity environment, he leapt towards the direction without mechanical noises.

With his heart rate in the extreme, Chen Ming pressed his hand against the body of the dusk destroyer.

[New spaceship signal detected, switch to brain-control signal connection?]

[Currently connected spaceship count: 1/1]

With his hand against the ship’s surface, Chen Ming felt numerous vibrations spreading towards him.

In this critical moment, he shouted without hesitation, ”Switch!”

All actions of the dusk ships suddenly halted.

And Chen Ming’s mind, due to the rapid exhaustion of spiritual power and growing fatigue, became unable to think, falling into complete chaos.

Using his remaining consciousness, Chen Ming resisted the ripping mental pain as his spiritual power ran dry.

He knew if he couldn’t endure, he would surely perish here today.

Thus, even with his mind on the brink of splitting from pain, he sustained his effort.

After enduring the endless haze of confusion, Chen Ming gradually regained clarity.

He found that he had successfully controlled the dusk destroyer.

The panel of the dusk destroyer was now floating before Chen Ming.
