Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 93: Chapter 67: Raid Plan_4

”Speaking of which, is it still uncertain what happened after his ship flew out?”

The factory director shook his head and said, ”The Speed Particle Spear hit directly, affecting many devices on the Space Station, and most of the external surveillance is basically damaged.”

”Xiao Mu deliberately avoided the weapon’s firing arc, so the positioning equipment with the weapon didn’t capture his ship.”

Old Wu shrugged, somewhat helplessly, and said, ”There’s nothing we can do, we’ll just have to wait for him to return, now it’s time for us to get to work. I’ll be keeping an eye on Xiao Mu later.”

”It’s not ’we’, it’s you going to work, I have other things to do.”

”What are you going to do?”

”A meeting, and then chat with Old Wu.”

”Chat about whom?”

”Since you’re asking whom, you must know what I want to chat with Old Wu about.”

Old Wu chuckled, casually snatching a can of tea from the director’s desk, stood up from the chair, and left the Administration Building.

At the same time,

Chen Ming finally awaited the end of the rest period.

The Dusk Fleet, which had been waiting outside the Star System for a long time, finally began to move, accelerating towards the orbital path of the gas giant planet.

As the distance shortened, Chen Ming quickly confirmed the situation on the battlefield with sensors.

There were four Cruisers on the Dusk side, all identical in appearance, with a fleet of more than three hundred Destroyers and Frigates.

These small ships had already lost a fifth in previous engagements.

And on the military side, there were also four Cruisers.

Two were Ruler Level, known for the strongest frontal firepower and armor among all the Cruiser models Chen Ming currently knew.

Another was a Defender Level, designed by Sinda Corporation and chosen by the military during external bidding.

The last Cruiser, like the Ruler Level, boasted extremely heavy armor and was called a Mola Level carrier.

Although the carrier itself does not have strong combat power, it still plays a crucial role on the battlefield, relying on those aircraft smaller than Frigates and more agile.

The aircraft carried by the carrier were designed differently from regular ships, all designs solely served combat purposes.

The aircraft abandoned most of the usual ship functions, including long-distance voyages, entering the Superspace Channel, and sometimes even life support systems, relying only on the pilot’s protective suit to sustain combat time.

Therefore, some aircraft carried by the carrier might even be stronger in combat than Frigates.

Only in large-scale battles, due to the size and weapon range limitations of ships, might aircraft face difficulties adapting to the combat environment.

So the existence of aircraft is still very significant, and naturally, the carrier that carries and maintains the aircraft has its own significance.

In smaller battles, aircraft often bring more advantages compared to the same number of Frigates.

Just like now.

Although the Space Station’s side has far fewer Destroyers and Frigate-level ships compared to Dusk, and there are even some ships at the edge that look rather miscellaneous.

Chen Ming estimated that they should be Bounty Hunters or Mercenaries hired by the military, merely here to make up the numbers.

In such a situation where reliable combat power is insufficient, the military’s side heavily relies on the small aircraft of the Mola Level carrier to actively engage at the battlefield’s edge, effectively pulling back the situation, even showing signs of counter-offensive.

Because many Spaceship Shields are not like those of the Pirate Space Station, which fully protects itself within the shield.

Most Spaceship Shields are full-angle shields, which can rotate at any angle around the ship, but their deployment range is limited, and the rotation speed is also limited, only protecting a certain angle.

So once there’s an opportunity for aircraft to flank, no matter how strong the ship, it will only have the possibility of being disabled by having its Engine destroyed.

Furthermore, Chen Ming noticed.

Dusk ships rarely have a lot of point-defense Weapons designed to counter small aircraft and missiles.

As a result, all ships harassed by aircraft had to divert some of their main Weapon firepower to handle those highly maneuverable aircraft, which they might not even be able to deal with.

Thus, Dusk’s frontal firepower became diluted.

And the military relied on aircraft to constantly pressure the Dusk battle line, especially the parts of the line with weaker firepower.

If any part of a battle line collapses, it can potentially be overrun in one sweep.

The military is now proceeding with the concept of gradually advancing, relying on their inherent advantages.

The idea is good, executing it isn’t a problem either.

But another Dusk fleet has already arrived.
