Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 86: Chapter 66: Dusk Strikes Again_2

Among them was even a cruiser.

These ships were not reinforcements from the Dusk, nor did they activate their responders.

If Chen Ming remembered correctly, judging by the paint on these warships, they should belong to the military fleet.

They must have been contacted when the news of the impending Dusk attack on the Space Station spread a few days ago by the Space Station Administration.

Chen Ming’s previously lifted spirits sank again.

The military’s position was right behind the Dusk Fleet, and if they coordinated a pincer attack with the Space Station, the Dusk Fleet would be no threat at all.

However, unexpected events often come suddenly.

After emerging from the Superspace Channel, the military fleet maintained a tight formation, yet made no move.

And in just a few seconds, the military fleet suddenly vanished, leaving a stretched, distorted shadow in their place.

This was a sign of the Teleportation Engine.

The military had teleported away.

”What does this mean?”

At this moment, Chen Ming’s mind was filled with confusion and incomprehension; he couldn’t understand the situation at all.

The military’s sudden arrival here was certainly due to the Space Station Administration’s plea for help.

But the military just showed up and then teleported away, leaving Chen Ming bewildered.

Did they abandon the Space Station?

Chen Ming could see the teleportation shadow of the military fleet gradually disappearing behind the Dusk Fleet.

And after the military disappeared, the Dusk Fleet continued their fierce assault on the Space Station as if unaffected.

Chen Ming hurriedly picked up the terminal from the ground, wanting to contact the factory manager to understand the current situation of the Space Station.

But the high-energy particles remaining nearby from the Speed Particle Spear scan left the terminal with no signal, making it impossible to contact anyone else.

And now, the danger for Chen Ming wasn’t over yet.

He was outside the thirtieth space arm, right at the frontline of the battle between the Space Station and Dusk.

If the upper Shield of the Space Station needed to be shut down due to nearing overload, he might be hit by the residual impacts of an attack at any moment, resulting in the destruction of the ship and himself.

Moreover, many Dusk Ships were closely packed around the Space Station, making it difficult to deal with these destroyers using anything other than small and medium-sized weapons.

The scattered Space Station fleet couldn’t stop them, and staying longer would surely mean facing numerous dangers.

Chen Ming couldn’t waste time on other matters; he had to leave immediately.

He piloted Iron Ore No., heading toward the bottom of the Space Station, towards the opposite side of the battle zone with Dusk.

Although the Dusk came in force this time, their fleet’s power wasn’t enough to completely encircle the Space Station and withstand its full firepower.

Only about ninety degrees of direction of the Space Station were surrounded, so retreating to the back for safety shouldn’t pose much of a problem.

As Chen Ming moved, he also observed the battlefield’s situation.

Overall, it was quite similar to the last attack by the Dusk.

However, this time, the Dusk had the advantage of surprise, closing in on the Space Station faster than before and directly destroying the 30th, 29th, and 27th space arms before the Space Station’s Shield could be activated.

The Space Station was momentarily at a disadvantage.

Luckily, the Shield was eventually activated.

Under the protection of the Shield, the Space Station’s ships were gathering, ready to organize a combat-capable fleet.

It was just uncertain how the sudden withdrawal of the military would affect their morale.

Chen Ming quickly reached the other side of the battle between the Space Station and Dusk.

Without the interference of high-energy particles, Chen Ming immediately contacted the factory manager via the terminal.

The moment the communication connected, Chen Ming heard the extremely angry and irritable voice of a middle-aged man from Lao Wu’s side.

”What the hell are you guys doing?”

”What’s that? Your troops teleported away right in front of the Dusk, and I’m not even supposed to mention it, huh?”

”You must give me an explanation. All those years of funding weren’t just for nothing!”

The factory manager quietly whispered to Chen Ming during the middle-aged man’s tirade, ”Xiao Mu, you’re still alive, huh? The director is throwing a tantrum, can’t say much right now.”

”If you get a chance, check if Xiao Wen is still alive; he’s on duty tonight.”

”Alright.”

Chen Ming casually responded. It was just lip service; whether he’d actually do it was uncertain.

”So what’s the situation now, exactly?”

The factory manager sighed slightly and quietly said, ”I’ll send you a message.”

With that, he hung up the call directly.

Soon, a message was sent over, summarizing the current situation of the Space Station by the factory manager.

In short, after confirming the Space Station’s coordinates and orbital trajectory last time, the Dusk used the Teleportation Engine to launch a surprise attack.

The Space Station side, having previously called for military support and just recently contacted them, assured that the military would arrive soon, so they were somewhat careless and got caught off guard by the surprise attack.

However, as long as the Shield was deployed and held on, the arrival of the military would mean absolute destruction for the Dusk.

But for some unknown reason, the military suddenly fled, leaving the Space Station in an extremely awkward position.

Fortunately, the Shield was successfully activated, so the Space Station wouldn’t fall in the short term.

Otherwise, the director wouldn’t be arguing with the military at a time like this.

The situation was generally understood, but it seemed there was nothing Chen Ming could do now.

He probably just had to wait for the battle to end.

The previous battle between the Space Station and Dusk barely counted as a victory with acceptable losses, but this time, Chen Ming felt that even if the Space Station won, it would definitely be a costly victory.
