Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 62: Chapter 56 Professional Maintenance Master

In that instant, Chen Ming almost wanted to simply choose yes.

But before doing that, Chen Ming managed to control the impulse.

The reason was quite simple.

Although there seemed to be no limit to the number of times the connection signal to the spaceship could be changed, switching an already connected spaceship might consume spiritual power.

Chen Ming was still in the repair workshop, still working, and doing most things through the panel required consuming spiritual power.

To experiment with the new capabilities of his own ability, he at least needed to wait until he was free to do so.

But even with that being said, the thoughts in Chen Ming’s mind were growing uncontrollably.

From the moment he saw the prompt to switch connections, Chen Ming had thought of many ways to benefit from other people’s ships through the panel.

He even considered directly taking someone else’s spaceship through the connection.

Unfortunately, attempting to directly approach someone else’s spaceship in the dock posed some difficulty.

The dock was filled with tight surveillance, and if Chen Ming tampered with someone’s ship and it mysteriously moved on its own, everyone would surely suspect him.

Though Chen Ming could choose to wait until someone piloted the ship out of the Space Station and remotely control the ship to dismantle the engines and life-support systems, leaving them to freeze or starve in space.

But Chen Ming didn’t want to use this method on people he was completely unfamiliar with and knew nothing about.

Chen Ming wasn’t sure which ones in the dock were truly vicious pirates and which were there due to some forced reasons.

Plotting against an innocent stranger would weigh on Chen Ming’s conscience.

At the very least, he needed to be certain the ship’s owner was indeed a villain before acting without remorse.

Like the current owner of the ship he was repairing.

Chen Ming wouldn’t even blink while plotting against them.

Apart from what he could do with other people’s ships, the second line in his mind, ”Current connected ships: 1/1,” also captured his attention.

It seemed to be a limit of his spiritual power, but also a direction for future development.

Chen Ming was well aware of the advantages of a ship he could fully control. The three Frigates sunk in the Dark Graveyard were the best proof.

More ships would naturally allow Chen Ming to accomplish more things.

Chen Ming was convinced that this number could be increased.

This was because, over the past six months, especially while on Rimu Star, the frequency of using the panel has gradually increased.

Chen Ming could clearly feel the consumption of spiritual power he could sustain was increasing.

Initially, even just repairing two machine guns left Chen Ming feeling significantly fatigued.

But later, Chen Ming could refit the heavy armor at the bottom of the spaceship in the morning and battle the Mechanical Race.

Throughout, he continuously repaired weapons and damaged armor, finally even managing to repair an Electromagnetic Spear stripped from a Mechanical Race member during combat.

All of this happened within a single day, something that would have been impossible when Chen Ming first got the panel.

This was already clear evidence that Chen Ming’s spiritual power was growing.

As long as Chen Ming continued using the panel to consume spiritual power for training and exceeded a certain limit, the number above would definitely change to 1/2.

Actually, Chen Ming also thought of another possible way to increase spiritual power.

Psychics, who were rumored to influence spiritual will and thought, must also be able to train in these areas.

However, this was truly too far from Chen Ming’s current life circles.

But Chen Ming thought he could wait until he was familiar with Old Wu or the boss, to see if they were worth trusting.

Then he might try using the Whispering Stone hidden in his engine compartment as a pretext to ask if they had any news related to psychics.

After all, Chen Ming still couldn’t be sure if his ability to control spacecraft through the panel was considered a kind of psychic ability.

Randomly bringing up psychics without reason felt like announcing that secret to the world.

While the Whispering Stone was a decent excuse, its value meant that Chen Ming wouldn’t easily mention it until he could trust others.

So, in this aspect, Chen Ming could only wait patiently over time.

Just as Chen Ming was lost in thought.

The sound of a wrench hitting metal, along with the bald Maintenance Master’s urging, echoed from inside the spaceship: ”Hey, what are you doing?”

”Coming.”

Chen Ming responded, temporarily suppressing all kinds of thoughts in his heart.

He entered the spaceship and collaborated with the bald Maintenance Master to complete the detailed internal repair tasks.

As they were leaving the spacecraft, the bald man glanced at Chen Ming a few times, his eyes seemed to flash with doubt.

But he said nothing, just gestured Chen Ming to move on to the next spacecraft needing repairs.

He and Chen Ming needed to handle all the internal repairs first before using the repair workshop’s heavy repair equipment to work on the remaining external armor tasks.

Although Chen Ming’s body was following the bald man, his mind was filled with the two phrases that had appeared in his mind earlier.

Admittedly, directly contacting other people’s ships in the dock, under numerous monitors, was quite unreliable.

But it was different in the repair workshop. Although there was surveillance, Chen Ming could interact with the ships under repair as he pleased.
