**

About half an hour later, the wounds on the King Cobra’s body had mostly healed. The shattered scales had regrown, and apart from its aura still being slightly weak, its external injuries were nearly recovered.

At that moment, Qing Lin, who had been unconscious, let out a soft moan and slowly woke up. Seeing herself lying in Wei Yang’s arms, her cheeks flushed red as she softly asked, ”Young Master... did I succeed?”

Wei Yang nodded with a smile. ”Qing Lin did great. You succeeded. You’ve awakened the Triple Jade-Green Snake Flower Pupils... This time, you really helped us a lot!”

He praised her without holding back.

Xian’er also smiled warmly at her.

Seeing this, Qing Lin was finally able to let go of her worries. She beamed with satisfaction and said sweetly, ”I’m so glad I could be of help to Young Master.”

Wei Yang fondly ruffled her hair, then pointed at the King Cobra, which was now in much better spirits and looking at Qing Lin docilely. ”Go talk to it for a bit. After all, it’s the first magic beast you’ve contracted. It’ll be your good partner from now on, so don’t neglect it. We’ll still need it to guide us to the Wind and Thunder Fury Flame.”

”Okay,” Qing Lin nodded. She reluctantly sat up from Wei Yang’s embrace, pressed her lips into a smile, then stepped forward and squatted down. She extended a small hand, trying to touch the scales on the King Cobra’s head.

The King Cobra made no resistance to Qing Lin’s approach or her touch. On the contrary, its eyes narrowed slightly, showing clear affection.

Seeing this, Qing Lin gently closed her eyes.

It was clear that she was using a special method to communicate silently with the snake.

After a while, no one knew exactly what Qing Lin had said, but a flash of reluctance was visible in the King Cobra’s huge pupils. However, under Qing Lin’s firm insistence, it could only lower its head helplessly in agreement.

A snake-type magic beast contracted by the Triple Jade-Green Snake Flower Pupils had no way to resist the will of its master. Even if ordered to die, the beast would be unable to refuse due to the forceful nature of the contract bond.

Qing Lin turned around, her face filled with excitement as she proudly reported to Wei Yang, ”Young Master, it agreed to take us to find the Wind and Thunder Fury Flame. It knows where it is!”

”Excellent!”

Wei Yang smiled and nodded. Seeing that it was already the early hours of the morning, he decided, ”Let it rest for the day and recover fully. We’ll head out the morning after tomorrow.”

”Okay,” Qing Lin agreed with a nod.

The King Cobra silently glanced at Wei Yang: Wow, thanks for the whole extra day of rest.

It had seen through things now—clearly, in this little group, the real authority rested with Wei Yang.

As for its ”master”... she listened to his every word without question.

The snake felt that its entire snake life had suddenly turned gray and depressing.

...

Ten days later.

Amidst the endless yellow sands, a massive snake-type magic beast over twenty meters long was slithering quickly through the desert, leaving behind a winding trail that was soon covered by the shifting winds.

Atop its flat triangular head, three figures sat cross-legged in meditation.

A thin yellow protective shield surrounded them, warding off the harsh wind and sand.

It was Wei Yang and his group, who had finally set off in search of the Wind and Thunder Fury Flame.

This journey was surprisingly easy.

The King Cobra bore them the entire way without complaint, sparing them the exhausting effort of traveling on foot.

During the day, they could cultivate while seated on its head. At night, they rested peacefully.

Even the task of keeping watch at night was handed entirely to the King Cobra, allowing the group to sleep without worries.

Because of all this, Wei Yang couldn’t help but feel that this was so much more relaxed.

And the King Cobra’s speed wasn’t slow at all.

...

After another half day of travel—

Qing Lin opened her eyes and turned to Wei Yang, speaking excitedly, ”Young Master, Big Eye says we’re already very close to the place where it last saw the Wind and Thunder Fury Flame!”

”Big Eye” was the King Cobra’s name now.

Wei Yang and Xian’er both opened their eyes at the words.

”Oh? We’re finally getting close?” Wei Yang nodded with a smile, his expression filled with anticipation.

Wei Yang flipped his hand and pulled out the map that recorded the route to the Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame. After carefully studying it for a moment, he looked up at the blazing sun overhead, made a few comparisons, and mentally calculated before speaking:

”The direction we’re moving in now is roughly parallel—but slightly slanted—compared to the route back to the Jia Ma Empire.”

”Which works out nicely. We’ve been traveling for nearly ten days, and we’ve already shortened a portion of our return journey.”

Xian’er and Qing Lin leaned in to look at the map as well. After a while, both smiled and nodded in agreement.

Being able to head home while searching for the Wind and Thunder Fury Flame was naturally the best scenario.

They had been in the desert for over a year, and even with the girls’ generally calm personalities, they had grown somewhat tired of the monotonous, sun-scorched wasteland.

After traveling a bit further, the King Cobra gradually slowed to a stop.

Hissss~

It let out a soft hiss.

”Young Master, Big Eye says we’ve arrived. This is the place where it last encountered the Wind and Thunder Fury Flame, over half a year ago,” Qing Lin said.

Their eyes turned to the scene ahead.

In the distance lay a raging sandstorm zone. The sky above was dark and oppressive, with leaden clouds pressing low as if they were about to crash down.

The black clouds mixed with the howling sandstorms, blending into one another so completely that it was almost impossible to distinguish between sky and earth.

At the center of the storm zone, just barely visible through the swirling sands, a vortex-like funnel cloud extended downward—an enormous tornado connecting the heavens and the earth loomed within the blinding sandstorm.

Where Wei Yang and the others stood, the scorching sun still hung high in the sky.

Yet ahead of them was a land shrouded in chaos, like the end of days.

Despite the short distance between the two regions, it was as if they belonged to completely different worlds.

This... was nature’s wrath.

In the face of such a catastrophe, humans appeared utterly insignificant.

...

Crack-crack—

Blasts of wind and sand occasionally slammed against the thin yellow protective barrier around them, making snapping sounds as they struck.

”Big Eye says the sandstorm here has been raging for a long time. It’s always like this. When it passed by here more than half a year ago, it looked exactly the same. Nothing’s changed since,” Qing Lin explained.

”It’s caused by the Wind and Thunder Fury Flame,” Wei Yang nodded, slowly standing up. He looked ahead at the natural disaster before them, his expression growing solemn.

To trigger a storm of such scale... to wield the power of nature itself—such a force was practically like reshaping heaven and earth. This... this was the Wind and Thunder Fury Flame?!

Every Heavenly Flame possessed its own unique ability.

The Wind and Thunder Fury Flame was born from the eye of ancient desert tornadoes, possessing the dual attributes of wind and fire, allowing it to stir up immense sandstorms.

It didn’t have a fixed habitat, typically moving along with tornadoes. Only during the hottest few days of the year would it briefly detach itself from a tornado and drift somewhere randomly in the desert.

When the Wind and Thunder Fury Flame erupted, tornadoes could reach hundreds of meters in height, and unleash catastrophic sandstorms across vast areas—its destructive power was terrifying.

A massive tornado combined with a Heavenly Flame... such force was unbearable to any place outside of this vast desert.

This... was the Wind and Thunder Fury Flame!

...

Wei Yang could feel a subtle tremble from within his dantian—the Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame was stirring, a faint sense of agitation spreading through him.

A broad grin gradually stretched across his face.

”The Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame has sensed the aura of another Heavenly Flame. We didn’t come in vain—the Wind and Thunder Fury Flame is in there!” Wei Yang grinned.

Normally, it would be nearly impossible to locate the Wind and Thunder Fury Flame in the endless desert—unless luck was on your side.

Truthfully, Wei Yang had only come with a ”let’s give it a shot” mindset. Deep down, he had only about fifty percent confidence.

But now—he could say for sure.

The Wind and Thunder Fury Flame was here!

”Let’s go in!” Wei Yang lightly tapped his foot against the King Cobra’s head, his tone already showing impatience.

Hissss~

The King Cobra let out a dissatisfied hiss.

”Big Eye! Didn’t I tell you? Whatever the Young Master says is the same as me saying it!” Qing Lin scolded.

The King Cobra instantly fell silent. It glanced nervously at the terrifying sandstorm ahead, let out a reluctant hiss, then quickly slithered forward, carrying the three of them straight into the chaos.
