Two scrolls.

One was a Low-Level Heaven Grade fire-elemental cultivation method!

The other was a Quasi-Heaven Grade fire-yang cultivation method, but—it came with a matching Quasi-Heaven Grade Dou Technique!

Which one should he choose?

Wei Yang frowned, unable to make a decision.

For him, the Quasi-Heaven Grade fire-yang method was undoubtedly the most suitable choice.

However, the difference between Quasi-Heaven Grade and a true Heaven Grade was a massive chasm.

Quasi vs. True.

The gap was no less than the difference between Half-Saint and Dou Sheng!

Damn this old man! He really was filthy rich, yet he had the nerve to act all hesitant earlier.

And now—he suddenly threw out two options just like that.

Wasn’t this a test of willpower?

Which cultivator could resist such a test?!

Wei Yang groaned internally, his mind trembling.

He hated making multiple-choice questions the most!

...

A moment later.

Seeing Wei Yang’s conflicted expression, Yao Lao chuckled slyly.

”Heh, Brat Wei, what’s wrong? Have you made your choice yet?”

Wei Yang smiled bitterly. ”Senior, you really know how to make things difficult.”

Yao Lao stroked his beard, a hint of smugness flashing across his face.

This little brat doesn’t know how to respect his elders?

I’ll teach him a lesson in no time.

”How is this difficult? I’m giving you two cultivation methods to choose from—what more could you ask for?”

Yao Lao continued, ”There is indeed a huge gap between Heaven Grade and Quasi-Heaven Grade, but the latter still bears the ’Quasi’ title. The difference isn’t completely unacceptable.”

Wei Yang nodded.

Makes sense. Go on.

Yao Lao continued, ”Though there is a matter of compatibility—your attribute is fire-yang, but ultimately, fire is still your primary element, while the yang aspect takes up a smaller portion.

So, in terms of pure effectiveness, the Low-Level Heaven Grade fire-element method is the best fit for you.”

”However—the Quasi-Heaven Grade fire-yang method is undeniably the most aligned with your attributes. Plus, it comes with a matching Quasi-Heaven Grade Dou Technique. Once you reach Mid-to-High Dou Zun, you’ll likely be able to unleash its true potential!”

”With a cultivation method paired with a compatible Dou Technique, the power they unleash is far greater. You already have a High-Level Xuan Grade set—so you understand the advantage of synergy.

In the future, such a combination could barely rival a Low-Level Heaven Grade Dou Technique in strength.”

”But—” Yao Lao smirked, ”Right now, you’re only a Dou Wang. The distance between you and Mid-to-High Dou Zun? Heh—that’s a long, long road...

So if you pick the Quasi-Heaven Grade method, you won’t be at a loss. In fact, you might even gain a little extra.

However, the Low-Level Heaven Grade fire-element method would bring you immediate benefits, significantly increasing your cultivation speed.

Sigh~ This really is a tough choice, huh?”

Wei Yang stared at Yao Lao expressionlessly.

Old bastard, you’re toying with me!

Ahhhh—flips the table!

You rambled for half a day, yet you only stated the obvious!

Did I not already know this? Did I need your useless explanation?!

Damn it! Now the choice was even harder!

His mind had already been leaning toward one option, but after Yao Lao’s words, he was now hesitant again.

Time passed slowly.

Yao Lao didn’t rush him.

Instead, he simply gazed admiringly at the Green Lotus in Wei Yang’s hand—more precisely, at the green flame flickering in its lotus heart.

Beautiful.

A true heavenly treasure.

Just looking at it, one could feel the innate spirituality it possessed.

...

Finally—

Wei Yang gritted his teeth and made his choice.

He pointed to the red-gold scroll, his voice slightly strained.

”Senior, I’ll take this one.”

Yao Lao withdrew his gaze from the Green Lotus Core Flame, glancing at Wei Yang’s final decision.

He was somewhat surprised—yet not really surprised.

With a grin, he said, ”Brat, are you sure about this? Heaven Grade is still Heaven Grade. Quasi is just... quasi.”

Wei Yang clenched his teeth, nodding firmly. His finger remained steadfastly pointed at the Quasi-Heaven Grade red-gold scroll.

”No need for further persuasion, Senior. This is my choice.”

”...Since you’ve made your decision, I won’t say anything more.”

Yao Lao shook his head.

”I just hope—you won’t regret it in the future.”

He put away the dark-red scroll, then waved his hand, sending the red-gold scroll floating toward Wei Yang.

Seeing this, Wei Yang also gently pushed his hand forward, making the Green Colored Lotus Platform hover and slowly drift toward Yao Lao.

Yao Lao’s eyes lit up, and he carefully cradled the Green Lotus with his translucent hands.

Wei Yang let out a slow breath and took hold of the red-gold scroll.

To be honest, this choice had been incredibly difficult for him.

In the end, it took an enormous amount of willpower to suppress the temptation of the Heaven Grade cultivation method and opt for the Quasi-Heaven Grade one instead.

Perhaps—it was a matter of intuition.

When faced with an impossible decision, he chose to follow the faint instinct deep in his heart.

That was what led him to make this choice.

Wei Yang slowly unfurled the scroll and let his soul power seep into it.

Instantly—

A vast amount of information surged into his mind!

—

Great Sun Burning Heaven Art, a Quasi-Heaven Grade cultivation method, Fire-Yang attribute...

”If one can find a suitable Fire-Yang flame, the power of this method will be no weaker than a true Heaven Grade method... For example, the Gold Emperor Incinerating Heavenly Flame, ranked fourth on the Heavenly Flame Ranking.

A full Gold Emperor Incinerating Heavenly Flame isn’t necessary; even a single sub-flame with sufficient power would be enough...”

—

Great Sun Burning Heaven Palm, a Quasi-Heaven Grade Dou Technique...

”When executed, it is like a great sun rising across the sky, burning mountains and boiling seas as if it were nothing.

If one acquires a sub-flame of the Gold Emperor Incinerating Heavenly Flame, this Dou Technique’s power can rival a true Heaven Grade Dou Technique...

Unfortunately, despite a century of effort, I was only able to cultivate a Yang Flame with power comparable to a Heavenly Flame—but it was never a true one.

Since creating this method and Dou Technique, I have never been able to obtain a genuine Fire-Yang Heavenly Flame... A lifelong regret.”

—

After carefully absorbing all this information, Wei Yang slowly opened his eyes, his heart filled with emotion.

As expected of a Quasi-Heaven Grade cultivation method and Dou Technique.

The complexity and power of this method surpassed Furious Lion Blazing Art and Furious Lion Roar by countless times.

The creator of this art must have been a peerless genius.

But...

A Fire-Yang Heavenly Flame...?

There weren’t many Heavenly Flames that fit this requirement.

Gold Emperor Incinerating Heavenly Flame?

Was he dreaming?

That was the Gu Clan’s inherited flame!

Ranked fourth on the Heavenly Flame Ranking—though not as mysterious as the Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame, it had an unstoppable reputation since ancient times.

The Gold Emperor Incinerating Heavenly Flame was said to be able to burn even Dou Qi itself!

According to legend, the first wielder of the Gold Emperor Incinerating Heavenly Flame once obliterated an entire space created by a Peak Dou Sheng—reducing it to nothingness.

Even just a sub-flame of this terrifying flame would be impossible for an outsider to obtain.

The Gu Clan’s dominance would never allow it!

Even among the Gu Clan, Gu Xun’er had a sub-flame of the Gold Emperor Incinerating Heavenly Flame, sealed inside her body.

It was a protective measure placed by the Gu Clan.

If fully unsealed, its power would rival a Low Rank Dou Sheng!

Furthermore, splitting a sub-flame from the Gold Emperor Incinerating Heavenly Flame would damage its core essence, requiring a long recovery period.

Thus, for the creator of Great Sun Burning Heaven Art—his wish to acquire a sub-flame of the Gold Emperor Incinerating Heavenly Flame was utterly impossible.

Unless...

You were a high-ranking member of the Gu Clan, a descendant with Divine Bloodline, or someone with the power to defy the Gu Clan, there was no chance of getting it.

Otherwise—

Even if someone managed to obtain a sub-flame through some means, they wouldn’t be able to keep it.

They’d be hunted down by the Gu Clan!

—

Wei Yang flipped his hand, putting away the red-gold scroll, exhaling lightly, his eyes flashing with thought.

At this moment—

Yao Lao had already reinforced the Green Colored Lotus Platform with multiple seals, before carefully storing it away.

”Heh, Brat Wei,” Yao Lao grinned, ”now that you’ve read the technique, how do you feel?”

—

Truth be told—when Yao Lao first presented the two scrolls, he was already certain that Wei Yang would most likely choose the Great Sun Burning Heaven Art.

Did Yao Lao not know about the hidden pitfall in this method?

Of course, he did.

Unless Wei Yang wanted to court death, the Great Sun Burning Heaven Art would forever remain a Quasi-Heaven Grade cultivation method and Dou Technique.

No—

Even if Wei Yang wanted to court death, there was no chance of success.

The Gu Clan...

Who dared to scheme against them?

Unless—

Wei Yang one day managed to create his own true Heaven Grade Fire-Yang cultivation method based on the Great Sun Burning Heaven Art...

But that would have to wait until he became a Mid-Level Dou Sheng at the very least.

Yet by that time—

Wouldn’t it be better to just create a new method that suited himself instead of struggling with this flawed one?

Why cling to something that was neither here nor there?

Thus—

Yao Lao had subtly dug a small pit for Wei Yang to fall into.

—

By choosing this method—

Unless Wei Yang stumbled upon a fortunate encounter and obtained a true Fire-Yang Heaven Grade method,

He would be stuck with a Quasi-Heaven Grade method until at least the Dou Sheng level!

Quasi-Heaven Grade wasn’t bad—

But at a high level, it became an awkward bottleneck, like a chicken rib—

Too weak to be satisfying, yet too valuable to discard.

This was Yao Lao’s little revenge—a small payback for Wei Yang extorting him earlier.

After all—

”The old but not dead are called thieves.”

The world was a cruel place.

Young people like Wei Yang couldn’t fully grasp its dangers.

In the end—

He had still been tempted by that Quasi-Heaven Grade Dou Technique and walked right into the trap.

In truth—

This was a hidden pit.

Wei Yang definitely wouldn’t realize it now.

Perhaps—

Only when he reached Mid-to-High Dou Zun would he finally discover—

The true gap between Heaven Grade and Quasi-Heaven Grade!

But by then—

Even if he realized it...

Would he have the face to come complain to Yao Lao?

After all—

This was Wei Yang’s own decision.

Who could he blame?
