**

The strange scene ahead left Wei Yang and his two companions completely stunned.

”Brother Yang, is this our destination?” Xian’er tightened her delicate fingers around Wei Yang’s hand slightly.

Beside her, Qing Lin also nervously hugged Wei Yang’s other arm, as if there were a terrifying beast ahead, waiting for them with its massive jaws wide open.

”Uh... this should be it.” Wei Yang nodded, his heart equally shaken.

He looked up at the sky.

The sky was an endless blue, with barely any clouds in sight, completely open and clear. There weren’t any dark clouds, so it wasn’t a matter of clouds blocking the sunlight and casting a shadow below.

It was midday, the blazing sun hanging high, its dazzling rays scorching the desert below. The intense heat caused the air to shimmer, distorting the distant view.

From where they stood, they could see the shadowy area ahead—hovering over the small basin. Sunlight clearly shone down from above, yet the moment it reached that darkened region, it mysteriously disappeared.

It was as if light simply could not penetrate that space.

”Is the Heavenly Flame devouring light? Absorbing the energy of the sun?” Wei Yang speculated internally.

Noticing the two girls’ nervous expressions, he smiled. ”Wait here for me. I’ll go take a look.”

The two girls immediately shook their heads and tightened their grip on his arms.

”I’ll go with you,” Xian’er insisted.

Qing Lin also nodded.

”Don’t be so nervous,” Wei Yang reassured them with a smile. ”I think all of this is caused by that Heavenly Flame—it must be absorbing the energy of the sun. As long as I don’t recklessly try to devour it, just approaching the basin shouldn’t be dangerous.”

”...Fine. Let’s go take a look together.”

—

As they moved closer to the small basin, they quickly noticed that the temperature around them was rising.

The closer they got, the hotter it became.

By the time they reached the basin’s edge—the boundary between darkness and light—the heat was already several times more intense than in the surrounding desert.

Standing at the darkened boundary and looking inside, that strange sensation deepened.

Despite the blazing sun overhead, the interior of the basin was dim, resembling the moments before dawn—just bright enough to see, yet shrouded in a perpetual twilight.

The basin itself looked like the result of a small meteor impact, forming a circular crater.

From the center of the crater, the terrain gradually rose outward in an explosion-like formation.

But instead of being filled with sand, the crater floor was covered in a hardened black rock, similar to cooled magma.

With Wei Yang’s eyesight, he could clearly observe the inside of the crater.

The barren pit, about a mile in diameter, was smooth and flat.

At the very center of the crater, in its deepest part, a black sun hung silently in the air. Its surface was wreathed in black flames, like a miniature star, radiating both light and heat.

It was the source of all the darkness here.

Or rather—black light.

It seemed to be contending with the sun above, competing for dominance.

A faint, pure, eerie black radiance enveloped the entire basin, forming an absolute domain.

Even the sun’s golden rays couldn’t pierce through, as if fighting for territorial control.

Seeing it up close was an awe-inspiring sight.

A black sun!

It was only the size of a washbasin, quietly suspended in midair, like a newborn star—small and immature, yet already impatient to shine its light upon the world.

It radiated its own heat and brilliance, daring to challenge the might of the burning sun above.

Seeing it from such a close distance, it was even more mesmerizing and shocking than the great sun in the sky.

Because that distant sun could only be admired from afar—no one could approach it.

But this little black sun was right before their eyes.

Beyond its beauty and magnificence, it carried an undeniable sense of danger.

The moment one laid eyes on it, an overwhelming heat seemed to surge through their heart.

As if merely approaching it would reduce one to ashes.

Even the faint black light it emitted carried an extreme heat.

A single glance felt like it could scorch one’s eyes.

It made people hesitate, wary of getting too close.

Beauty laced with a trace of deadly peril.

—

For a long moment.

Wei Yang finally withdrew his gaze from the black sun.

He closed his eyes, taking a moment to recover from the pain and burning sensation caused by prolonged exposure to its black radiance.

But his heart was filled with overwhelming excitement.

He had found it!

This flame wasn’t any of the Heavenly Flames ranked on the ranking.

This was a completely new, unknown Heavenly Flame.

Perhaps—it came from the Great Thousand World!

For some reason, it had ultimately fallen into this Lesser Thousand World.

It wasn’t a Demonic Flame from the Outer Realm either.

Even though it was black, it radiated a powerful and majestic presence—like the blazing sun in the sky, devoid of any demonic or evil aura.

Because this world did not instinctively reject it, nor did it seem out of place.

Countless thoughts flashed through Wei Yang’s mind.

This Lesser Thousand World did not seem to have suffered an invasion from the Outer Realm Fiends.

Perhaps, in ancient times, there was one—but it was repelled by the Ancient Emperors.

Did the Ancient Emperors, upon leaving, seal and hide this Lesser Thousand World?

Was that why later generations lacked the necessary origin qi to ascend to Emperor?

—

After a moment, Wei Yang opened his eyes again, unable to suppress the burning heat in his gaze as he looked at the black sun.

Even if its radiance stung and burned his eyes, he didn’t care.

If it truly came from the Great Thousand World, then this was a heaven-defying opportunity.

A Divine Flame?

Its growth potential would be astonishing!

In the Great Thousand World, even a mature Divine Flame had power at least equivalent to a Emperor Flame of the Dou Qi Continent.

Which meant—its lowest possible power level would be comparable to a Spirit Grade Heavenly Supreme.

In fact, if a Emperor Flame had never undergone the refinement of the Great Thousand World’s spiritual energy, its power might not even match that of a Divine Flame.

How could Wei Yang not be thrilled?

If this was truly a Divine Flame’s infant form, then its value...

Nihility Devouring Flame?

Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame?

All of them would be trash in comparison!

Of course, all of this was still just speculation—he couldn’t be certain.

Perhaps this was merely a newly born Heavenly Flame native to the Dou Qi Continent.

After all, the continent was vast. The existence of an unknown, newborn Heavenly Flame that had yet to be discovered by the world was entirely possible.

The places where Heavenly Flames were born were typically highly concealed, hidden within dangerous or forbidden lands.

But even if this was merely a newly born, unknown Heavenly Flame, judging by its unique appearance and strange properties, its future potential shouldn’t be weak.
