**

One year later.

Wei Yang had reached the peak of Six-Star Dou Wang, just a step away from Seven-Star.

Meanwhile, Xian’er had already reached the pinnacle of Nine-Star Dou Wang.

Even Qing Lin had advanced to Three-Star Dou Zhe, cultivating the Low-Level Xuan Grade Non-Attribute Cultivation Technique that Wei Yang had prepared for her.

And on this day, Wei Yang was finally ready to begin devouring the Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame.

Dusk

Inside the cave dwelling, after having dinner with the two girls, Wei Yang spoke up, ”Tonight, I plan to devour the Heavenly Flame.”

Hearing this, Xian’er and Qing Lin trembled slightly, their eyes flashing with traces of concern.

”So it’s finally starting?” The two girls thought silently.

Although they had great confidence in Wei Yang and had mentally prepared themselves long ago, they still couldn’t help but feel anxious.

Devouring a Heavenly Flame was extremely dangerous!

Even if it had already been tamed.

A year ago, the first impression of the Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame, as well as its terrifying destructive power when it erupted, was still fresh in their minds.

But they knew that Wei Yang had prepared meticulously for this day and had put in immense effort—there was no way he would back down now.

Thus, they didn’t try to dissuade him.

”Be careful, Brother Yang.”

”Young Master, be careful.”

They smiled as they spoke.

Wei Yang smiled as well, pulling them into his embrace and gently ruffling their hair. ”Don’t worry, I won’t fail. I’m very confident—at least an eighty percent chance of success.”

”Mm.” The two girls nodded in agreement.

Nightfall

As the sun set, the desert’s scorching heat rapidly faded.

A bright moon slowly rose from the horizon, its cold radiance casting a layer of frost-like light over the land, bringing a deep chill to the desert.

Outside the cave, Xian’er and Qing Lin had no interest in cultivating. They stood there, their gazes fixed on a distant figure—several miles away, sitting cross-legged atop a sand dune, bathed in the moon’s silver glow.

Wei Yang sat with his eyes closed—not cultivating, but emptying his mind, entering a trance-like state between wakefulness and sleep.

He was adjusting his condition, refining his essence, energy, and spirit to their peak.

Devouring a Heavenly Flame required absolute focus.

The cold moonlight bathed his figure, making it seem as though he was wrapped in a thin layer of silver gauze.

The reason he chose to devour the flame at night, out in the open, was to take advantage of the environment—any slight increase in his chances of success was worth it.

At this moment, the surrounding temperature had plummeted to nearly twenty degrees below zero.

Whoosh—

A gust of icy wind howled past, lifting Wei Yang’s hair and snapping him out of his trance.

The wind had picked up.

Wei Yang’s eyes suddenly opened, a sharp glint flashing across them. His entire demeanor exuded vitality and confidence.

He parted his lips and exhaled—a black sun, about the size of a fist, emerged from his mouth and floated in midair before him.

The black sun rapidly expanded, growing to the size of a washbasin in mere moments. Its surface was cloaked in dark flames, flickering and writhing eerily.

Instantly, the surrounding cold was banished, and the temperature became pleasantly warm.

Wei Yang lightly traced his finger across his storage ring, taking out a small, slightly transparent jade bottle. Inside, a blood-red pill, about the size of a dragon’s eye, lay quietly, emanating a faint crimson glow.

The light shining through the bottle allowed Wei Yang to vaguely see shadows within the pill. As he gently tilted the bottle, the pill rolled slightly, and it seemed as if liquid was sloshing inside it.

This blood-red pill was an essential item for devouring a Heavenly Flame—the Blood Lotus Essence Pill!

Ordinarily, Wei Yang wouldn’t even need the Blood Lotus Essence Pill, as he didn’t have to reach into the flame by hand.

Wei Yang had no intention of cutting corners.

The Blood Lotus Essence Pill not only protected the skin from being burned by the Heavenly Flame but also shielded the meridians inside the body.

Moreover, it had excellent healing properties.

After placing the Blood Lotus Essence Pill aside, Wei Yang retrieved a white jade box, about the size of a washbasin, from his storage ring.

As soon as the jade box landed on the smooth stone surface before him, a faint chill spread outward, causing a thin layer of frost to condense over the stone.

Opening the jade box revealed layers of ice surrounding its contents. At the very center, a snow-white jade bottle was securely nestled within the ice, wisps of white cold mist curling around it, giving it an ethereal and mysterious aura.

As the lid of the jade box lifted, the cold mist surged upward, causing the surrounding temperature to drop sharply.

Inside that snow-white jade bottle was none other than Ice Spirit Cold Fountain!

Finally, Wei Yang took out the last essential item for devouring a Heavenly Flame—Acceptance Soul.

It was a thumb-sized gray stone, smooth and jade-like without a single flaw, appearing almost like a precious gemstone.

At the very core of the stone, a faint bluish glow flickered and pulsed gently, like a firefly trapped within amber, brimming with a strange vitality.

”Acceptance Soul... In my case, I probably won’t need it.” Wei Yang muttered to himself.

Inside his body, he had already refined a sub-flame of the Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame, and his entire Dou Qi had been infused with its aura.

Over the past year, he had carefully nurtured this sub-flame, increasing its strength from its initial Da Dou Shi level to the peak Dou Ling level.

As for the main flame, he had tamed it long ago. After spending a year coexisting with it, they had grown deeply familiar with each other.

The main flame had no resistance toward him anymore—on the contrary, it had become increasingly close to him.

The main flame was at the peak Dou Wang level, and Wei Yang himself was a Six-Star Dou Wang—their power levels were nearly equal.

”Better to keep it on hand,” Wei Yang thought as he casually placed Acceptance Soul aside.

Having it and actually needing to use it were two different matters.

Taking a deep breath, he shifted his gaze toward the black sun floating not far away.

”Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame, come... Merge with me and become a part of my being,” Wei Yang murmured.

The black sun trembled slightly, its flames flickering as if responding, though in a rather vague and hazy manner.

Its intelligence was not high—it didn’t understand Wei Yang’s words. It only recognized that he was communicating with it, so it simply responded with excitement.

”Let’s begin!”

From Wei Yang’s brow, an overwhelming surge of soul power erupted, instantly invading the black sun, once again entering the small world composed entirely of black flames.

At the center of this flame world, a fist-sized black sphere floated quietly, radiating a newborn-like brilliance—both dazzling and pure!

This was the core essence of the Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame!

Wei Yang’s soul power surged forward, enveloping the black sphere before forcefully extracting it.

Outside, the black sun continued to hover in the air, casting a faint, eerie glow.

At that moment, a fist-sized black sphere, radiating pure darkness and wrapped in jet-black flames, was forcibly pulled out of the black sun’s body!

The moment the black sphere was extracted, it seemed momentarily stunned—almost dazed, as if lost in confusion.

Being suddenly exposed to the outside world, separated from its own body, was akin to a human having their soul forcibly pulled out and laid bare in the open air.

A deep instinctual fear surged through it.

Losing its body, it felt incredibly vulnerable.

Then, it began to struggle.

Even though its intelligence was low, its instincts drove it to resist!

The fist-sized black sphere trembled violently, trying to return to its body, but Wei Yang’s soul power tightly restrained it, pulling it farther and farther away from the black sun.

At the same time, Wei Yang continuously communicated with the flame’s essence through his soul, attempting to soothe its fear and unease.

A strange sense of guilt suddenly welled up in his heart.

But he quickly shook off the thought.

Devouring a Heavenly Flame has always been this way!

At this moment, he could not afford the slightest hesitation!
