**

At this moment, as Wei Yang truly tamed and controlled this Heavenly Flame, his entire body trembled violently.

This tremor seemed to emanate from the depths of his soul, quickly spreading throughout his entire body.

In that instant, Wei Yang felt as if his soul had undergone an ascension, an illusion of transcendence. Every pore in his body instantly opened and contracted, an indescribably profound and euphoric sensation washing over him.

His soul seemed to merge with that hazy and naive consciousness.

And he himself appeared to have transformed into a black sun, burning and radiating unrestrainedly within this desert.

The sensation was truly mystical—his soul and the black sun were as one, inseparable from each other.

The overwhelming pleasure made Wei Yang tremble again. When he unknowingly closed his eyes and slowly reopened them, his pitch-black pupils now faintly flickered with black flames.

As the black flames in his eyes gradually receded, Wei Yang regained his clarity. He then noticed that the previously raging and violent black flames around him had, at some point, become docile. They surrounded him, exuding a faint sense of closeness.

Wei Yang slowly withdrew his Dou Qi shield, and the flames coiled around him, clinging to his body. Yet, they no longer emitted scorching heat; instead, they radiated warmth.

Docility. Closeness. Submission!

Wei Yang lifted his head, his gaze landing ten meters ahead. There, a black sun, about the size of a washbasin, was gradually retracting its flames and becoming still.

It hovered in the air, the flames on its surface swaying slightly as if it wanted to move closer to Wei Yang but hesitated.

At this moment, the black glow it emitted was no longer dazzling to Wei Yang. Instead, it felt like ordinary sunlight, warm and comfortable on his skin.

”Come!” Wei Yang extended his palm, his thoughts stirring slightly.

In an instant, the black sun shot toward him, circling him twice before finally landing gently in his palm.

During this process, its size began to shrink. From its initial washbasin size, it gradually reduced to the size of a fist.

Resting in Wei Yang’s palm, it emitted a warm glow, exuding a sense of closeness and obedience.

Wei Yang lowered his gaze slightly, staring at the small black sun in his palm. A smile gradually formed on his lips.

This Heavenly Flame had been subdued.

More precisely, he had subdued it with his soul, imprinting it with his soul mark. However, to fully control it, to truly merge with it and make it his own flame, he still needed to refine and absorb it.

His current state was similar to the one between Tian Huo Zun Zhe and the Fallen Heart Flame.

He could control it, and it was now very close to him, unwilling to harm him, but it had not yet been fully refined.

His soul had refined it, but his physical body had not. Only by fully integrating with it could it truly become part of him.

This state could be considered semi-refined.

Yet, the most difficult step had already been accomplished.

With this semi-refined state, the resistance during the final refinement process would be significantly reduced, increasing the success rate.

At the very least, it would boost the success rate by thirty percent.

Yes, an even greater influence than the four combined fragments of the Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame’s remnant map, which had summoned the remnant soul of the Purifying Demonic Lotus Saint to suppress the Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame.

...

Wei Yang held the fist-sized black sun in his palm, his thoughts moving. ”Absorb!”

In an instant, the surrounding black flames, which had spread across dozens of meters, surged back and receded, returning to the small black sun in his palm.

As its glow gradually dimmed, the black domain that had once covered the crater also disappeared.

Finally, the small black sun burrowed into Wei Yang’s body, entering his Sea of Consciousness, where it hovered above the small soul figure within.

Wei Yang slowly clenched his palm before exhaling softly. He then reopened his hand and murmured, ”Emerge!”

As his voice fell, his palm trembled slightly. In the next moment, a wisp of black flame quietly emerged from his palm, rising into the air, flickering and burning within his grasp.

”This Heavenly Flame is already under my control. As for refining it, there’s no rush...”

Staring at the black flame in his palm, Wei Yang muttered to himself, ”During the refinement process, it will still instinctively resist. Although I can suppress its resistance, ensuring a high success rate, failure remains a possibility.”

After all, the power of a Heavenly Flame was no joke.

Refining it within his body was extremely dangerous. A single mistake could result in his body being reduced to ashes.

Moreover, this flame possessed the power of a peak Dou Wang, while Wei Yang was merely a one-star Dou Wang.

To increase his chances of success, he decided not to refine it immediately. Instead, he planned to wait until his strength had improved further—at least until he reached mid-tier Dou Wang—before proceeding.

Since the dish was already in the pot, there was no need to rush to eat it while it was hot. Letting it cool before eating wouldn’t be too late either.

He was different from Xiao Yan. Xiao Yan was in a hurry to improve his strength and evolve Flame Mantra, which was why he took the risk of devouring it.

After all, the Three-Year Agreement was approaching.

At merely the Dou Shi realm, he actually dared to risk his life to devour the Green Lotus Core Flame. His courage was truly astounding.

The fact that he succeeded in the end was purely due to luck—nothing more.

That old man Yao Lao actually agreed to let Xiao Yan try such a near-certain death move.

Wei Yang could only express his admiration.

He wouldn’t do that, nor did he need to.

For Wei Yang, if he could increase his success rate by even one percent, he would take the time to accumulate that extra one percent.

Only after making full preparations—at least ensuring a seventy to eighty percent chance of success—would he attempt it.

...

Wei Yang put away the black flame in his palm.

Stretching comfortably, he scanned his surroundings.

The hardened rock beneath his feet, which had previously melted under extreme heat, was now slowly cooling and solidifying. The black domain that had covered the entire crater had also completely dissipated.

Now, aside from a still-steaming crater, there was nothing left here.

Wei Yang smiled slightly, his figure flickering as he transformed into a streak of flowing fire, appearing at the edge of the crater.

Not far away, Xian’er was leading Qing Lin towards him.

”Brother Yang, you successfully subdued that Heavenly Flame?” Xian’er asked with a gentle smile.

”Mm.” Wei Yang nodded with a smile. Stretching out his right hand, he willed it, and a black flame instantly ignited in his palm.

”Congratulations, Brother Yang!”

”Congratulations, Young Master!”

Both Xian’er and Qing Lin cheered happily.

”Hahaha! This trip was worth it!” Wei Yang withdrew the black flame and laughed heartily.

He stepped forward, wrapping an arm around each of them, and walked towards the newly carved-out cave dwelling.

”We need to stay here for a while. Once I reach mid-tier Dou Wang, I will completely devour and refine this Heavenly Flame.”

Wei Yang grinned. ”Once I refine the Heavenly Flame, we’ll go deal with that beast.”

”Mm.” The two women nodded with smiles.

”Brother Yang, I feel like that serpent-type Magic Beast is not simple,” Xian’er said. ”The flames it uses are very similar to a Heavenly Flame.”

”You noticed too?” Wei Yang nodded. ”Indeed, it’s very similar to a certain Heavenly Flame.”

As he spoke, he exchanged a glance with Xian’er, and they both spoke at the same time: ”Heavenly Flame No. 18—Wind and Thunder Fury Flame!”

”I’ve been fixated on it all this time, and this is one of the reasons.”

Wei Yang continued, ”I suspect that beast has definitely come into contact with the Wind and Thunder Fury Flame... Perhaps it stayed in the place where the Wind and Thunder Fury Flame was born for a long time, or maybe it was even born there.

Otherwise, it wouldn’t possess the power of wind and fire, nor would the flames it uses resemble the Wind and Thunder Fury Flame so much.”

Xian’er nodded in agreement.

Wei Yang reached out to ruffle Qing Lin’s hair, smiling. ”Another reason is for Qing Lin. That beast has immense potential, and it seems to be only half a step away from the Rank 6. In the future, it will at least reach the peak of the Rank 6.”

”It would be an excellent first contract beast for you. With it, Qing Lin, your growth speed will increase significantly.”

”Thank you, Young Master.” Qing Lin’s eyes sparkled with excitement.

She also wanted to grow stronger as soon as possible so that she could help Young Master—and even fight alongside him in the future!
