As they stepped into the heart of the sandstorm—

In an instant, their surroundings were completely engulfed by sand and dust. Visibility dropped to near zero.

This area was much hotter than anywhere else in the desert.

The deeper they went, the more suffocating and terrifying the heat in the air became.

Fierce winds swept up the yellow sand into the sky. The flying particles even carried faint sparks, slamming against the protective barrier with crackling pops—an overwhelming force.

After moving forward a bit more, the king cobra gradually came to a halt. It let out a low hiss, its pupils revealing a trace of fear and unease. It dared not take another step.

Wei Yang didn’t urge it on. Instead, he squinted, eyes narrowing as he peered through the dust ahead—there, a massive tornado connecting heaven and earth raged and roared.

Inside that tornado, yellow-brown flames swirled. The fusion of wind and fire twisted the surrounding space into a distorted blur, as though reality itself was being shredded apart.

Awooo—!

A sound like a dragon’s roar echoed faintly through the air.

Wind and Thunder Fury Flame!

I’ve finally found you...Wei Yang murmured softly.

Staring at the massive tornado ahead, awe and excitement shone in his eyes.

Heavenly Flames, miraculous beings—

Born from the majesty of nature, sculpted over countless centuries until finally taking form.

Each one could be considered a perfect work of art crafted by the world itself.

No one could resist the temptation of a Heavenly Flame—especially not an alchemist.

And Wei Yang was no exception.

Beside him, Xian’er’s eyes also shimmered with excitement.

It was a kind of instinctual response—alchemists were naturally drawn to fire.

A moment later, Wei Yang withdrew his gaze.

”Young Master, did you find the Wind and Thunder Fury Flame?” Qing Lin asked curiously, a hint of nervousness in her voice.

”Silly girl.” Wei Yang chuckled helplessly. He reached out to pat her head, then raised his chin and pointed forward. ”Look—see that giant tornado up ahead? That’s it.”

Xian’er chuckled softly from the side.

”Ah?!”

Qing Lin’s eyes widened in shock as she stared at the massive tornado that connected heaven and earth, her mouth agape.

That thing—over a hundred meters tall—was the Heavenly Flame?

But... that’s clearly a tornado! How could that be...?

Qing Lin was utterly baffled.

”The Wind and Thunder Fury Flame isn’t a dragon-shaped flame like you’re imagining,” Wei Yang explained with a smile. ”Its form is that of a tornado, and inside it burns a yellow-brown flame. Its name comes from the dragon-like howls it emits and its whirlwind shape—hence, Wind and Thunder Fury Flame.”

Qing Lin dumbly nodded, still staring at the tornado. She rubbed her eyes and muttered, ”But that’s just a tornado...”

”You should read more. But every time you try, you fall asleep. Who’s to blame for that?” Wei Yang flicked her forehead lightly.

Then he ignored her as she clutched her head, looking sheepish and guilty.

Wei Yang turned his gaze back to the tornado and said softly, ”Judging by its scale and the pressure it’s emitting, this Wind and Thunder Fury Flame probably has the power of a Dou Huang at peak stage—maybe even barely reaching the level of a Dou Zong.”

Xian’er nodded solemnly. ”It’s ranked eighteenth among all Heavenly Flames. With such power, it must not only be fully mature, but also possess a fair amount of spiritual intelligence.”

”Exactly.” Wei Yang frowned. ”This won’t be easy.”

The saying goes—the more intelligent the flame, the bigger the headache.

Heavenly Flames like Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame or Green Lotus Core Flame had very low spiritual intelligence—like infants. They were much easier to subdue.

But those with higher intelligence...

First, their power was never weak. A mature flame was the minimum. They were difficult to deal with.

Take the Fallen Heart Flame in the Inner Academy of Jia Nan Academy— even high-tier Dou Zong experts would find it troublesome.

Such flames were, in some ways, already no different from human experts.

The Wind and Thunder Fury Flame before them, even in its default state, emitted pressure that faintly surpassed the limits of a peak-stage Dou Huang. If it went all out, matching a Dou Zong wouldn’t be surprising at all.

And Wei Yang? Even with the Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame, he could only just barely match a low- to mid-tier Dou Huang.

Xian’er was only at the peak of Dou Wang. With the help of her cultivation method and dou techniques, she could contend briefly with a low-tier Dou Huang, but going up against a Dou Zong was another story entirely.

The two exchanged glances, their expressions turning grim.

This was bad.

But... just turn back now?

Wei Yang wasn’t the kind to give up on a Heavenly Flame that easily.

”Brother Yang?” Xian’er looked at him.

”Let’s give it a shot,” Wei Yang took a deep breath. ”I have a Heavenly Flame protecting my body. As long as I can safely enter the center of the tornado and get close to the flame’s core, I can use my soul power to try and subdue it. I’ll handle the assault—Xian’er, I’ll need your support from the outside.”

”Okay.” Xian’er nodded.

”Young Master, Sister Xian’er, you two must be careful.” Qing Lin looked a bit worried. Judging from the fear in the eyes of the king cobra, there was obvious danger ahead.

”Qing Lin, you and Big Eye leave here in a bit and wait for us outside,” Wei Yang said with a smile. ”Don’t worry, if there’s danger, we’ll retreat immediately. I have an Heavenly Flame protecting me—it can’t hurt me.”

”Mm.”

...

Once the king cobra took Qing Lin away—

Wei Yang spread the Dou Qi wings behind his back. He glanced at Xian’er and reminded her, ”Xian’er, just stay outside and attract its attention. Don’t try to be brave—retreat immediately if it gets dangerous. You don’t have to worry about me. With the Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame protecting me, I can get out safely.”

”I understand.” Xian’er’s expression was serious. ”Brother Yang, you be careful too.”

”Rest assured.” Wei Yang nodded. Taking a deep breath, the black wings behind him flapped once—

Whoosh!

His figure transformed into a blazing stream of fire, shooting toward the tornado up ahead and diving straight into it, vanishing without a trace.

That tornado seemed to pause, its rotation slowing noticeably, and then—it got angry.

Boom!

The tornado spun wildly, and a storm of yellow-brown flames swept up with a howl. The surrounding temperature surged crazily.

Xian’er stared deeply in the direction where Wei Yang had disappeared. The gray-white wings on her back flapped once, and her figure swiftly soared into the air.

From her palms, flames mixed with pale red and gray-white colors surged upward, forming two fire dragons that coiled in the air.

”Go!” Xian’er gave a soft shout and pushed both hands forward.

Roar~

Two fire dragons, each over ten meters long, roared as they flew out, slamming fiercely into the massive tornado ahead.

Boom!

A violent explosion rang out, but the shockwaves caused by it didn’t stir up much splash before they were shredded by the tornado.

However, Xian’er’s attack seemed to completely enrage the Fury Wind Dragon Flame.

In an instant, the towering flaming tornado, bringing with it terrifying winds and scorching heat, swept violently toward Xian’er.

At that moment, it unleashed its full power.

That power—was already faintly touching the threshold of a Dou Zong!

Xian’er’s pupils contracted. She didn’t dare take it head-on. With a flap of her wings, her figure blurred into a streak of light, retreating rapidly.

Her Low-Level Earth Grade movement technique granted her extreme speed and agility.

Finally, she narrowly avoided the sweeping wind and flame.

The terrifying gale and heat brushed past the edge of her body, and the force it carried made her groan softly, her face turning pale.

Afterward, without daring to pause, she forcefully suppressed the churning of blood and turbulent Dou Qi in her body and retreated madly.

Because another gust of wind, carrying horrifying yellow-brown flames, came roaring toward her like a hurricane.

And right then—

Boom!

A dazzling black light suddenly erupted.

A black sun slowly rose from the center of the tornado, radiating its blazing light and searing heat to the fullest.
