**

The blazing sun hung high in the sky.

Atop a weathered rock hill, Wei Yang sat cross-legged on the scorching stone, eyes closed as he cultivated.

The relentless sun cast its searing rays upon the endless desert below, as if unwilling to rest until every last drop of moisture had evaporated from the land.

The surrounding space was filled with fire-attributed energy and traces of solar energy, all converging towards Wei Yang’s body, where they were refined and absorbed.

Moments later, Wei Yang slowly opened his eyes, exhaling a breath of hot air. ”Almost there... I’ve reached the peak of one-star Dou Wang.”

Flipping his hand, he retrieved a small jade bottle. As he removed the lid, a rich medicinal fragrance wafted into the air.

Inside the bottle lay a single pill of blue-green hue, its surface adorned with intricate and mysterious pill patterns.

Superior-grade Dou Spirit Pill!

A pill that every Dou Wang could only consume once in their lifetime.

”Let’s begin,” Wei Yang murmured to himself.

Tilting the jade bottle, the pill slipped into his mouth. With a slight movement of his throat, he swallowed it whole.

Boom!

A surge of pure and boundless energy exploded within him, coursing through his body in waves.

Wei Yang quickly activated his cultivation method, refining the vast medicinal energy.

As the refinement process continued, his aura steadily grew stronger and more profound.

Without much resistance, he effortlessly shattered the thin bottleneck and smoothly advanced to two-star Dou Wang.

Then, he continued pushing towards three-star Dou Wang.

One day and one night later.

By midday the following day, Wei Yang’s energy had accumulated to its peak.

”Now!” Wei Yang gave a soft shout in his heart.

Instantly, the surrounding fire and solar energies were drawn towards him at an insane rate.

His aura surged forward, breaking past yet another barrier.

With a faint ”pop” sound resonating from within, his body trembled slightly.

At that moment, his energy skyrocketed once again.

Three-star Dou Wang!

A few moments later, Wei Yang slowly retracted his energy and opened his eyes.

Within his pupils, a trace of black flame flickered briefly before fading away.

”Three-star Dou Wang.”

Wei Yang let out a long breath of turbid air.

With the aid of the Superior-grade Dou Spirit Pill, he had successfully broken through two stars without any obstacles.

”Next, I’ll continue cultivating while making my final preparations for refining the Heavenly Flame.”

The Next Day.

Seated atop the rocky hill, Wei Yang stretched out his hand.

From his palm, a dark red flame with faint golden streaks was forcibly extracted from his body, eventually condensing into a palm-sized flame hovering above his hand.

This was a peak Rank 4 Beast Flame, obtained from a Two-Headed Flame Spirit Serpent, a fragment of its core fire.

Wei Yang had named it: Lava Earth Core Flame.

Over the past two to three years, he had nurtured this Beast Flame, causing it to evolve slightly, giving it a faint golden hue.

If cultivated further, this flame might even have the potential to ascend to the Rank 5, undergoing elemental transformations.

However, since he acquired it mid-journey and never dedicated much effort to its growth, it hadn’t been able to advance to the Rank 5 even after Wei Yang’s own breakthrough to Dou Wang.

Now, its usefulness to him was minimal, and it was time to let it go.

Wei Yang retrieved a jade bottle, sealed the flame within, placed a restrictive seal over it, and stored it away.

Taking a deep breath, he extended his palm once more.

With a mere thought, a fist-sized black sun emerged, hovering above his palm.

Its surface was enveloped in black flames, exuding an intense heat while emitting a faint, eerie glow.

The air above Wei Yang’s palm distorted slightly under the scorching power of the black flame.

Of course, this level of heat was insignificant to Wei Yang.

Moreover, the flame did not harm him at all.

Instead, it conveyed a sense of warmth and intimacy, trembling gently in his palm.

Seeing this, Wei Yang smiled.

After these past few days, this Heavenly Flame had grown incredibly close to him, and the last remnants of its previous resistance had completely vanished.

The two had become familiar with each other, and the initial sense of estrangement was gone.

Now, this Heavenly Flame had also grown increasingly close to Wei Yang, appearing affectionate and warm.

In its hazy and ignorant state, it did not possess much intelligence. Though highly spiritual, its intellect was not developed—it acted purely on instinct.

After being subdued by Wei Yang and imprinted with his soul imprint at its core, it had completely recognized him, instinctively growing close to him.

And this sense of intimacy would only grow stronger over time. Eventually, the bond between Wei Yang and the flame would become inseparable.

Until the day he fully refined it—at that moment, there would be no more barriers between them, and they would truly become one.

”You don’t have a name yet. You’re an Heavenly Flame unknown to the world...”

”From now on, you will be called Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame!” Wei Yang murmured for a moment before bestowing it with a name.

As for the inspiration... well, it mainly came from his cultivation technique: Great Sun Burning Heaven Art.

A matching technique and Heavenly Flame—he couldn’t be bothered to think of another name.

Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame!

Wei Yang believed that as he roamed the world in the future, the name Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame would resound throughout the land, striking fear into all his enemies.

Like a black sun hanging high in the sky, radiant and scorching!

Burning everything to ashes.

...

After gazing at the flame for a moment—

”Split!” Wei Yang commanded in a low voice.

At once, a small wisp of flame, about the size of a thumb, separated from the black sun in his palm. It hovered in the air before him, flickering and swaying gently.

The black sun trembled slightly in Wei Yang’s palm, its flames wavering as if instinctively resisting. However, in the end, Wei Yang soothed and suppressed it.

Clenching his hand, he reabsorbed the Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame.

Looking at the remaining wisp of fire before him, Wei Yang smiled.

This was a small fragment split from the Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame. Though it was just a single strand, the separation still caused some damage to the Heavenly Flame. However, it wasn’t significant.

With time, the Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame would recover.

Moreover, this wisp of fire was only temporarily separated. Eventually, it would merge back into the main flame.

Wei Yang had split off this wisp to refine it first, allowing his Dou Qi to acquire the traits of the Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame and absorb its essence.

Starting with the sub-flame would also make refining the main flame much easier in the future.

Once his body contained a portion of its power, the refining process would be smoother, reducing the damage the Heavenly Flame could inflict on him.

In a way, it was a form of resistance—

For both his Dou Qi and his physical body.

...

Wei Yang lowered his gaze, his eyes locking onto the flickering black flame.

”Let’s begin.”

He slowly closed his eyes, directing his mind inward. First, he guided his consciousness along his meridians before settling in his dantian.

Within his dantian, a vast and majestic energy, red-gold in color, churned like a small lake of liquid power.

Although Dou Wang-level experts had Dou Qi flowing through every part of their body, the dantian remained the place where the most energy was stored.

After confirming that there were no issues, Wei Yang did not open his eyes. Instead, he slightly parted his lips and inhaled.

The wisp of fire was drawn into his mouth and swallowed, swiftly traveling through his meridians before arriving at his dantian, where it hovered above the sea of energy.

Swoosh!

As the energy within his dantian surged like a tidal wave, the immense power wrapped around the wisp of fire and carried it along his meridians, following the circulation route of his cultivation technique—thus beginning the refinement process.

During this process, the wisp of fire instinctively resisted.

However, under the combined suppression of Wei Yang’s powerful soul and Dou Qi, this flame, which at best possessed the strength of a peak Da Dou Shi, was utterly powerless.

Moreover, it was only a small fragment of the main flame, devoid of significant intelligence. Separated from the main fire, it was like rootless water. Its feeble instinctive resistance was quickly overcome.

The refinement process went smoothly, and soon, Wei Yang had fully absorbed the wisp of fire.

When the wisp of fire returned to his dantian, it was already completely refined and had merged with his Dou Qi.

Now, it burned quietly within the energy lake of his dantian.

As his Dou Qi circulated through his body, it would pass through this flame, undergoing a purification process and acquiring its aura.

In time, all of Wei Yang’s Dou Qi would be fully refined by the flame and imbued with its essence.
