Time passed quickly, and in the blink of an eye, three months had gone by.

Xian’er had completed her soul tempering two months ago.

Her soul power had indeed improved, but the increase wasn’t as significant as Wei Yang’s had been.

She had only managed to enhance her soul strength from barely matching a low-rank Dou Huang to barely matching a high-rank Dou Huang.

Perhaps this was due to factors like soul talent, foundation, and overall aptitude.

Even though she had worked harder and pushed herself more than Wei Yang had during his training, the results still didn’t reach her expectations.

Perhaps, in the face of natural talent, sheer effort sometimes fell short.

That said, any improvement in soul power was still a good thing.

Xian’er had never been particularly gifted in soul strength.

Yet now, at only the low-rank Dou Wang level, she had a soul power comparable to a high-rank Dou Huang, which was already quite remarkable.

This also narrowed the gap between her and those genius alchemists.

Once she reached the Dou Huang realm, achieving the rank of a Tier 5 alchemist shouldn’t be a problem.

And if she could obtain a Heavenly Flame, reaching Tier 5 peak or even Tier 6 wouldn’t be out of the question.

—

Underground Magma World

On the platform—

Wei Yang sat cross-legged, surrounded by an endless surge of fire attribute energy, which flooded into his body.

At that moment, his body seemed like a bottomless abyss, devouring as much energy as it could take.

Moments later—

Wei Yang’s body trembled slightly.

Boom!

A vast, boundless aura erupted from his body, spreading out in circular ripples.

His eyes snapped open, and in that instant, golden-red flames flickered in his pupils, dazzlingly bright before slowly fading away.

At the same time, that powerful aura gradually withdrew.

Whoo~

Wei Yang tilted his head back and exhaled deeply.

A visible stream of air, like an arrow, shot out over three meters before dissipating.

”So this is a Quasi-Heaven Grade technique? The power is truly astonishing!”

Wei Yang clenched his fists, feeling the surging strength within his body. A smile crept onto his lips.

Two months—he had finally succeeded in switching cultivation techniques, completely converting the Dou Qi from Furious Lion Blazing Art into the Great Sun Burning Heaven Art.

To accomplish this, he had spent an hour every day absorbing the sun’s energy on the desert surface.

His rank hadn’t increased, nor had it regressed—he remained at one-star Dou Wang.

But his strength had grown immensely.

Now, in terms of both quality and quantity, his Dou Qi was several times—no, nearly ten times stronger than before!

The reason his cultivation rank hadn’t dropped was thanks to the abundant fire attribute energy in the magma world, sustaining him.

Moreover, from now on, as long as he was in a place rich in energy or under sunlight, Wei Yang’s Dou Qi would be endless and inexhaustible.

A Quasi-Heaven Grade technique—its recovery speed and efficiency were beyond question.

Standing up, Wei Yang stretched his body.

Crack, crack, crack!

His bones and muscles crackled like popping beans, a satisfying release of power.

Not far away, on the other side of the platform, Xian’er, dressed in white robes with flowing silver hair, opened her eyes and looked over.

”Brother Yang, you successfully switched techniques?” Xian’er asked with a smile.

The surging aura Wei Yang had just released had interrupted her meditation.

”Mm, just completed it,” Wei Yang nodded and smiled. ”What about you? How much longer?”

Xian’er furrowed her brows slightly, thinking for a moment before answering, ”Probably another ten days to half a month.”

”Don’t rush, take your time,” Wei Yang reassured. ”After all, this technique is more compatible with me, so I’m naturally progressing faster than you.”

”Mm.” Xian’er nodded, then closed her eyes and resumed her meditation.

Wei Yang smiled and turned away, but his brows furrowed slightly.

Xian’er’s cultivation technique transition had at most reached the level of a High-Level Earth Grade technique, yet her progress was slower than his own.

This was the issue of technique compatibility.

Perhaps... if he had chosen that Low-Level Heaven Grade technique, Xian’er’s transition would have at least reached Quasi-Heaven Grade?

Was I too selfish?

Wei Yang pondered in silence.

Back then, he had followed a gut feeling and ultimately chosen the Great Sun Burning Heaven Art, believing it to be the most beneficial choice for himself.

But perhaps... that Low-Level Heaven Grade technique would have been the best choice for both of them.

Did I make the wrong decision...?

Maybe.

He felt a trace of guilt, but he didn’t regret his choice.

”Xian’er possesses the Woeful Poison Body. Her growth faces no real obstacles. Once the hidden dangers of her poison body are resolved, she is essentially guaranteed to reach Dou Sheng!

But what about me?”

”My talent isn’t outstanding at all. Why shouldn’t I fight for myself?”

”Choosing the Quasi-Heaven Grade Great Sun Burning Heaven Art may seem like a short-term loss...”

”But if I can refine a sun-attributed Heavenly Flame, it will rival a true Heaven Grade technique. Combined with matching Dou Techniques, I will have a massive advantage.”

— In the Ye Clan (Pill Tower) of Central Plains, there is Sun Flame and a Sun Pearl

.— In Black-Corner Region, there is Flame Creation Skill, capable of artificially cultivating flames comparable to Heavenly Flames. Even the three Dou Huangs from Demon Flame Valley nurtured flames with combined power that was astonishing.

— In the depths of the Endless Sand Sea, there is a mysterious, black sun-like Heavenly Flame.

— I can even try to exchange for a Gold Emperor Incinerating Heavenly Flame sub-flame from Gu Xun’er.

With so many choices, why should I hesitate?

That gut feeling back then—was it truly intuition?

Or was it simply my subconscious tilting the scales, making a choice based on my

own survival instinct?Xiao Yan is the Child of Destiny—his growth speed is practically a cheat.

Xian’er has the Calamity Poison Body—her growth speed is even more absurd.

And me?

Rather than worrying about others, I should focus on securing my own future.

—

Standing at the edge of the platform, Wei Yang gazed at the vast magma lake below, his expression unreadable.

He felt that he had not made the wrong decision.

That Low-Level Heaven Grade technique would have only been an added bonus for Xian’er.

At least in the early stages, it wouldn’t significantly affect her growth speed.

With or without a Heaven Grade technique, Xian’er would still rapidly advance to Dou Zun.

But Wei Yang was different. His choice would shape his entire future.

If he refined a sun-attributed Heavenly Flame, he would gain a true Heaven Grade technique, as well as matching Heaven Grade Dou Techniques!

Why should I give that up?

The combination of technique and corresponding Dou Skills provided an immense power boost.

Once he became stronger, he could always go to the Spatial Trade Fair and exchange for a Low-Level Heaven Grade technique.

A simple tier-eight pill would be enough to trade for one.

At that time, he could easily obtain a Heaven Grade technique for Xian’er.

— A Heaven Grade technique allows the user to mobilize and absorb vast amounts of heaven and earth energy.

— A Quasi-Heaven Grade technique also mobilizes this energy, but whether the user can absorb and refine it depends entirely on their ability.

When Xiao Yan’s Flame Mantra evolved into Quasi-Heaven Grade, he could rival true Heaven Grade techniques only because he had Heavenly Flames to aid in his absorption.

That was the key difference.
