ROAR—

Three pitch-black fire dragons, each nearly twenty meters long, coiled in midair, letting out deafening howls.

Black flames blazed fiercely on their bodies, and the eerie black glow they emitted faintly illuminated the shadowy area below. Strangely enough, the blackness gave way to a gloomy dimness, fully exposing the enormous, serpentine figure of the king cobra beneath.

The surrounding temperature suddenly soared, driving away the cold.

ROAR—

Another two dragon roars rang out as two slightly smaller fire dragons appeared. Their flames were pale red mixed with a tinge of gray-white. They circled gracefully around Xian’er.

Five fire dragons tore through the sky, exuding an immensely terrifying aura that even twisted the space around them from the intense heat.

The five dragon heads lowered in unison, glaring down with a fierce and oppressive gaze at the king cobra below, whose tense body had already begun to tremble.

”To manifest three fire dragons, combined with the power of Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame, this is already considered the absolute peak among Low-Level Earth Grade Dou Techniques,” Wei Yang said with a light chuckle.

Nine Dragons Fire Control Technique - Mid-Level Earth Grade.

When cultivated to the ninth layer, and used together with Nine Drago Lightning Flame, its power could rival a Quasi-Heaven Grade Dou Technique.

But even now, with Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame, it was far from weak.

Once he cultivated it to the highest ninth layer and summoned nine dragons, its power would likely stand among the top even within High-Level Earth Grade Dou Techniques!

Glancing to the side, he noticed Xian’er’s two smaller fire dragons. Their aura was noticeably weaker, and when compared to Wei Yang’s trio of black dragons, they seemed to be putting on a show under the tiger’s shadow—borrowing power they didn’t truly have.

”That’s the difference. That’s the power of a Heavenly Flame!” Wei Yang laughed.

Xian’er gave him a mildly annoyed glare, though a trace of envy flashed in her beautiful eyes.

”Let’s deal with this beast first,” Wei Yang smiled and waved his hand.

ROAR—

The three black fire dragons howled and lunged toward the shivering king cobra below.

ROAR—

Xian’er’s two fire dragons followed suit, diving downward.

HISS—

The king cobra’s scarlet eyes turned vicious. It suddenly raised the upper half of its body, opened its mouth, and let out a furious hiss.

Yellow-brown flames erupted from its massive body, burning with intense vigor. At the same time, it opened its jaws and spewed out a surge of roaring fire.

Around its body, a violent wind began to spiral.

Wind fuels fire!

A colossal firestorm formed, surging upward to clash with the incoming fire dragons.

Yet... the firestorm lacked momentum.

In the face of the three black fire dragons, the yellow-brown flames instinctively trembled in fear.

RIP—

The wind-fire tornado was swiftly torn apart by the black fire dragons.

Then, with a mighty roar, the three dragons charged straight toward the king cobra.

Trailing behind, Xian’er’s two fire dragons followed closely.

BOOM!

Within the raging inferno that engulfed the sky—

HISS—

A pained, agonizing scream echoed out.

...

The hillside collapsed.

On the scorched battlefield below, a massive round crater had formed. Within it, fiery red magma bubbled and churned, steaming with intense heat.

Wei Yang stood with arms folded, the black wings on his back gently flapping. His gaze was cold as he looked down.

In the magma lay the massive body of the king cobra, half-submerged and soaking. Its once-sturdy scales were shattered and broken. Its flesh was mangled and scorched; barely any intact skin remained.

Its aura was faint, its eyes dull and lifeless, lying still like a dead snake.

Its heart had fallen into despair.

This was a fearsome serpent that had once survived devouring two Heavenly Flames, gaining immense benefits in the process. From an ordinary desert viper, it had clawed its way to power and glory. What storms hadn’t it weathered?

Today... it had backfired.

Regret surged in its heart.

It shouldn’t have come tonight!

Humans... truly are not to be underestimated.

Wei Yang’s figure slowly descended, his feet landing gently on the ground. His gaze locked directly onto those now-dim, vertical pupils, and he chuckled.

”One year ago, you really gave me quite the hard time, didn’t you?”

The king cobra’s eyelids twitched slightly, a flash of defiance crossing its eyes.

Human, go ahead and do it.

...

”Brother Yang, it looks like... it wants to die.” At that moment, Xian’er also descended, holding Qing Lin by the hand. She giggled lightly.

”Wants to die? Not that easy. I still need it to lead the way—to find the Wind and Thunder Fury Flame.” Wei Yang said blandly.

Upon hearing that, the king cobra’s pupils suddenly contracted. That wild defiance vanished, replaced by a flicker of fear.

Seeing this, Wei Yang raised an eyebrow.

”Oh? Remembered something unpleasant? Looks like you do know where the Wind and Thunder Fury Flame is—and you’ve encountered it before.”

He waved at Qing Lin.

”Young Master,” Qing Lin jogged over with light steps, a faint light gleaming deep within her eyes—tiny emerald sparkles beginning to shimmer. She looked up at Wei Yang, her expression full of anticipation.

She was excited, because she knew what was coming—she was finally about to awaken the powerful physique her young master had told her about.

When that happened, she could grow stronger quickly and become a real help to him.

Wei Yang gently patted Qing Lin’s little head and said softly,

”Qing Lin, I need your help now. Do you remember what I said when we first met? That your eyes are beautiful?”

Qing Lin blushed and nodded lightly.

”Heh, your eyes are called the Triple Jade-Green Snake Flower Pupils. They’re a very special type of eye—through them, you can communicate and connect with snake-type magic beasts.”

Wei Yang pointed at the king cobra and explained patiently,

”So, make friends with it. Form a contract. I need it to guide us to find that Wind and Thunder Fury Flame. In a moment, just focus your mind and channel your Dou Qi into your eyes...”

He gently held Qing Lin’s shoulders, guiding her to face the cobra’s sinister, triangular head, whispering softly in her ear.

Xian’er stood to the side, watching curiously.

Triple Jade-Green Snake Flower Pupils... a special constitution even more powerful than my own Woeful Poison Body?

Qing Lin locked her gaze onto that fearsome serpent head. Taking a step forward, she began channeling her Dou Qi toward her eyes, her heart filled with determination.

”I must succeed. I have to awaken this constitution... I want to help Young Master!”

As the Dou Qi flowed into her eyes and entered the Triple Jade-Green Snake Flower Pupils—

Her pale green eyes began to shimmer faintly, and three tiny emerald-blue dots gradually emerged, glowing faintly with an eerie, mystical light. Yet... it seemed incomplete. The transformation remained half-finished, never quite taking full form.

After a while, beads of sweat appeared on Qing Lin’s forehead. She had already used up more than half of her limited Dou Qi, yet she still couldn’t awaken the Three Flower Pupils.

Still, she refused to give up.

She continued to stubbornly glare at the king cobra.

The king cobra and Qing Lin—one massive and one tiny—stared at each other wide-eyed.

Then, within the cobra’s faint golden pupils, a trace of scorn appeared.

Form a bond with this snake? Communicate? Contract?

With this little weakling?

What a joke!

It glanced sideways at Wei Yang, clearly annoyed.

This snake isn’t deaf. I heard everything you said.

You’re strong. You beat me.

If you had come and spoken to me personally—showed a little respect—maybe I would have considered cooperating.

But you send this little weakling to try and talk to me? That’s just insulting.

Humans. Truly vile!

...

Qing Lin’s face had turned a little red. She had tried her hardest to stare into the cobra’s eyes, yet she still couldn’t feel that connection—no sense of resonance, no bond.

Anxiety crept into her heart. She felt embarrassed—so embarrassed she was on the verge of tears.

After another moment, her expression turned despondent. Her voice trembled as she spoke:

”Young Master... I... I’m sorry... I’m useless...”

Wei Yang furrowed his brows slightly, deep in thought.

”According to the original novel, Qing Lin’s awakening process for the Triple Jade-Green Snake Flower Pupils didn’t seem related to her cultivation level... So this failure to awaken... is it because there wasn’t enough stimulus?”
