Global Flood: I Survive on Duckweed

Chapter 246: Chapter 175: Invitation to Meet, Base Attacked

During lunch, Ren Yuanyang suddenly asked, ”Xin Wan, do you know how to butcher a pig?”

Xin Wan was taken aback for a moment, then shook her head. ”I’ve never actually butchered one of those before.”

”I thought you were really skilled when I saw you carving up that crocodile,” Lu Jiamei said, a bit confused.

Xin Wan replied, ”You guys had already killed that crocodile, hadn’t you? I’m just familiar with the anatomy of a crocodile. It’s the same with pigs.”

”Looks like we’re still missing a butcher!” Hua Lingfang added.

Ren Yuanyang nodded slightly and couldn’t help but lament, ”You’re right. We’re still too short-staffed!”

”We shouldn’t need to butcher any pigs for now, right?” Lu Jiamei asked, looking at Ren Yuanyang in confusion. ”After all, we only have those two.”

”It should be fine in another two days,” Ren Yuanyang replied with a smile. ”The Aircraft Carrier Base has prepared another six pigs for us. In the future, we won’t be short on cattle, sheep, pigs, chickens, ducks, or geese. We’ll have more than we can eat!”

Lu Jiamei paused, taken aback for a moment, then nodded.

”Elder Hua, are the potions ready?” Ren Yuanyang asked, turning to Hua Lingfang.

Hua Lingfang nodded. ”They’re all packaged and ready!”

”In that case, I’ll contact the Aircraft Carrier Base so we can make the trade as soon as possible,” Ren Yuanyang said.

’The sooner I get my hands on that livestock and the scientific knowledge on the computer, the better.’

Hearing this, Qin Haonan immediately perked up. ”Does this mean I get to go out again?”

”You really can’t sit still for a second, can you?” Ren Yuanyang said, exasperated.

Qin Haonan chuckled. ”It’s not that I can’t sit still. It’s just that everything at the base is running smoothly. I feel completely useless!”

”So you’ve got too much time on your hands, huh? There’s plenty of work in the cultivation area and the livestock pens. If you’re so bored, go help out over there!” Ren Yuanyang retorted irritably.

”You got it! But, uh, when are we leaving for the trade?” Qin Haonan asked, unwilling to drop it.

Ren Yuanyang rolled his eyes. ”I’ll know once I’ve contacted the Aircraft Carrier Base!”

”I’ll be waiting for your word, then!” Qin Haonan replied with a grin.

After lunch, Ren Yuanyang sent a message to Wang Jun.

”Captain Wang, the potions are ready on our end. How are things on yours?”

Wang Jun paused when he saw the message, then immediately replied, ”We’re ready. Regarding human literature and technology, we prioritized copying the knowledge from ancient texts onto the computer for you.”

Wang Jun had actually been quite thoughtful about this. With all the high-tech equipment damaged by the geomagnetic storm, advanced scientific knowledge was likely useless at the moment.

Knowledge that seemed a bit more primitive, on the other hand, was far more suitable for the current situation!

”Thank you! Since we’re all set, let’s get ready to trade. The time is set for nine o’clock tonight. I’ll send you the location in a moment!” Ren Yuanyang decided after a brief calculation.

”No problem. We’ll wait for your message,” Wang Jun replied. ”However, should we change the trading method this time? I’m afraid the small boat you usually provide won’t be able to hold everything!”

Ren Yuanyang paused. ’He’s right,’ he realized instantly. ’There are six cattle this time. Even if they’re calves, they’ll take up a lot of space. If they move around, the small boat could become unstable. And if the boat capsizes, the computer will be toast!’

”Then how do you propose we trade, Captain Wang?” Ren Yuanyang tossed the question back to him.

Wang Jun replied, ”We’ve traded so many times, we should have a certain degree of mutual trust by now. If you trust us, we can have our people move the items onto your speedboat. How does that sound?”

Ren Yuanyang considered this for a moment. Instead of answering directly, he asked, ”Captain Wang, I was wondering if you might have some time?”

Wang Jun was taken aback. ”Brother Yang, what do you mean?”

”Since we’re trading anyway, if you have time, how about we meet in person?” Ren Yuanyang proposed. ”And while I’m there, I’d like to see this Electric-Type Superpower for myself!”

Wang Jun was stunned again. ’He never imagined the leader of the Peach Blossom Base would proactively ask to meet him!’

”I’d be delighted!” Wang Jun replied instantly, without hesitation.

”It’s a deal!” Ren Yuanyang replied, then ended the conversation.

After a moment of consideration, Ren Yuanyang called Lu Jiamei and the others back to inform them of his decision.

”Absolutely not, Chief! It’s too dangerous!” Lu Jiamei immediately objected.

The others all nodded in agreement.

”What part of this world isn’t dangerous?” Ren Yuanyang retorted, his expression turning unusually serious. ”Besides, I have my own mission on this trip. Captain Wang has awakened an Electric-Type Superpower, and I need to see it for myself. It’s not just about him. In the future, if anyone awakens a special-type superpower, I need to personally investigate it!”

”Do you really have to go?” Lu Jiamei asked, her brow furrowed.

Ren Yuanyang gave a solemn nod. ”I have to.”

”Fine. Then I’m going with you,” Lu Jiamei said without a moment’s hesitation.

”We’ll go too!” Xin Wan and the others chimed in.

Ren Yuanyang shook his head. ”Peach Blossom Base needs you here to hold down the fort. If we all leave, what happens if someone tries to take it over?”

Lu Jiamei nodded slightly. ”Elder Hua, Xiaowan, you two should stay behind and help the Chief guard the base. Don’t worry. Anyone who wants to hurt the Chief will have to go through me first!”

”Er, you should stay behind too. It’ll be fine with just Haonan and me,” Ren Yuanyang said, feeling a bit helpless.

”No. I have to go with you,” Lu Jiamei said, her tone firm and decisive.

”We’re just going to make a trade. The Aircraft Carrier Base and we are on good terms; there won’t be any trouble,” Ren Yuanyang could only try to reassure them. ”We’re not going out looking for a fight!”
