Global Flood: I Survive on Duckweed

Chapter 216: Chapter 166: Sealing the Deal, We’re in No Rush

Long Zhan said with a laugh, ”Don’t worry. I won’t just stand by and watch my brothers walk into danger!”

”That’s more like it. I suggest we have the lab continue their observations for a while. And when we trade for the Evolution Potions in the future, we should distribute them in batches,” Ji Yizhi advised.

Wang Jun nodded. ”That’s exactly what we should do.”

”Do you think the Peach Blossom Base is the first base on Blue Star to develop an Evolution Potion?” Long Zhan suddenly asked.

”It’s highly probable. The previous Feixiang Aircraft Carrier and the Han Jin Association Fleet were all puppets of the Sea Eagle Country. We can get a rough idea of their research speed from their experimental data, and right now, the success rate of the Sea Eagle Country’s Evolution Potion is twenty percent at most,” Ji Yizhi speculated.

”The Peach Blossom Base is truly full of surprises,” Wang Jun said with a nod. ”I’d really like to meet the person in charge there!”

”We’ll definitely have the chance someday,” Long Zhan said with absolute certainty.

Meanwhile, at the Peach Blossom Base, Lin Mu had already harvested all the mature crops and planted a new batch.

Once he was done, he rushed to the front of the shipping container.

”Minister Xin, I need to see the Leader about something important!” Lin Mu said, clasping his hands in a formal gesture.

Xin Wan paused for a moment, then replied, ”Of course. I’ll go inform the Leader right away. Please wait a moment.”

Soon, Ren Yuanyang rushed over with Xin Wan and Hua Lingfang following behind him.

”What is it? Are you experiencing any discomfort?” Ren Yuanyang asked in a heavy voice.

Lin Mu quickly shook his head. ”No, I’m in perfect condition. I just came to ask the Leader about being a Wood-Type Evolver.”

Hearing Lin Mu’s denial, Ren Yuanyang breathed a small sigh of relief. He had also just injected the Evolution Potion. ’If there really was a problem, wouldn’t that be disastrous?’

But when he heard Lin Mu wanted to ask about Wood-Type Evolvers, he felt a flicker of panic. He had always claimed to be one, and now a real Wood-Type Evolver was here with questions. ’How am I supposed to answer?’

Outwardly, Ren Yuanyang remained composed. ”If you have any questions, just ask. I’ll do my best to answer them.”

”Thank you, Leader!” Lin Mu said, bowing with his hands clasped. ”Just now, while I was harvesting the wheat, I tried to use my Wood-Type Superpower. I found I couldn’t control the plants. Is it because my Mental Energy is too low?”

Hearing this, Ren Yuanyang frowned slightly. After a moment of thought, he pinpointed the issue.

”Wait a moment.” Ren Yuanyang turned and left, quickly returning with a packet of cherry tomato seeds.

He placed a cherry tomato seed in front of Lin Mu and said, ”Try to quicken this seed.”

Lin Mu was stunned for a second, but then he nodded and immediately channeled his Superpower.

To his surprise, he found he could actually control the cherry tomato seed.

As Hua Lingfang and Xin Wan watched in astonishment, the cherry tomato seed slowly sprouted, unfurling tiny leaves!

At that point, Lin Mu had already exhausted his Mental Energy. He stopped, his face pale, but he was ecstatic!

”Leader, I did it!”

Ren Yuanyang nodded slightly. ”Mm, not bad. Keep practicing. As your Mental Energy increases, the speed at which you can quicken growth will get faster and faster.”

Lin Mu nodded excitedly, but he soon realized something was off. ”Leader, why could I quicken this seed, but not control the wheat?”

”It’s quite simple, really,” Ren Yuanyang explained. ”This is just an ordinary seed, whereas the wheat plants have been enhanced by me. You’ll need to increase your Mental Energy before you can control enhanced plants.”

Understanding dawned on Lin Mu. ”I see! Thank you, Leader!”

Ren Yuanyang waved his hand. ”All right, here are some ordinary giant knotweed seeds. Use them to practice your Wood-Type Superpower.”

”Thank you, Leader!” Lin Mu said gratefully once more. As a botanist, he was naturally familiar with the properties of giant knotweed. Its stems, branches, and petioles were all covered in barbs, and it was incredibly tough—perfect for restraining enemies.

Ren Yuanyang gave Lin Mu some giant knotweed seeds. He accepted them excitedly and left in high spirits.

”Leader, you’re incredible! An ordinary Wood-Type Evolver can’t even control the plants you’ve enhanced!” Xin Wan exclaimed in admiration. ”Your Superpower is just too strong!”

Ren Yuanyang usually used the word ”enhance.” To Xin Wan and the others, ”enhance” and ”evolve” seemed more or less the same, so they followed his lead and started using the word ”enhance” too.

Ren Yuanyang felt a sense of resignation, but he knew Xin Wan wasn’t wrong.

’The Enhancement System could be considered a special kind of ability, which falls under the umbrella of Superpowers.’

However, when it came to accelerating plant growth, the system’s enhancement was continuous. It was different from Wood-Type Evolvers; they could use their Mental Energy to speed up growth, but as soon as they withdrew it, the plant would revert to its normal speed.

Of course, Wood Superpower Users had the advantage in combat, as they could control any item containing Wood-Type Elements to help them fight.

A Wood-Type Evolver could reshape a piece of wood into a shield or a Wooden Sword for both offense and defense.

Ren Yuanyang’s Enhancement System, however, couldn’t do that.

”My Superpower is just a bit special; it’s not really that strong,” Ren Yuanyang said, shaking his head.

Xin Wan and Hua Lingfang just assumed he was being humble.

’Duckweed, the Banyan Forest, all the fast-growing, fruit-bearing plants... which of them didn’t rely on Ren Yuanyang’s Superpower?’
