Global Flood: I Survive on Duckweed

Chapter 228: Chapter 169: Base Pets, New Weapons (3)

”Other people? Other people don’t get to play around like this!” Qin Haonan pursed his lips. ”They’d thank their lucky stars to get even one Evolution Potion. They’d never get the chance to use a second one.”

”That’s not necessarily true. We’re about to trade 2,400 potions to the Aircraft Carrier Base. Can you guess how they’ll use them?” Ren Yuanyang asked with a smile.

Qin Haonan was taken aback for a moment, then nodded. ”That’s a good point! Speaking of the trade with the Aircraft Carrier Base, shouldn’t we start getting ready?”

”The items for the trade are already prepared. You should get some Iron Melons and Spray Melons ready. Learn to use your Superpower to activate these plant-based weapons. It’s not only safer but also more convenient,” Ren Yuanyang replied after a moment of thought. ”Oh, right. We can also take some of the Sound Boxes with us.”

Qin Haonan’s eyes lit up. ”The Sound Boxes are finally ripe?”

Ren Yuanyang nodded slightly. ”Yes. To be clear, once you pull the stem off a Sound Box, it will explode on impact or after ten seconds. Its power is greater than an Iron Melon’s, so you must be careful.”

”Got it!” Qin Haonan replied with a grin. ”Isn’t this basically a time-delay grenade?”

”You could think of it that way. Tomorrow, you should take some out and practice with them,” Ren Yuanyang replied.

”Alright!” Qin Haonan was itching to go, wishing he could go pick a few and test them out right now.

”Neither of you need to stand watch tonight. Get some rest,” Ren Yuanyang continued. ”And don’t forget to bring some food to feed those white mice tomorrow morning.”

Lu Jiamei paused, slightly surprised, then nodded. ”Okay!”

Qin Haonan also acknowledged the order, and then everyone went back to rest.

The night passed without incident. The next morning at five, an excited Qin Haonan appeared before Ren Yuanyang.

”Leader, can I go train with the Sound Boxes now?”

”You’re a little too excited, aren’t you?” Ren Yuanyang was a bit speechless.

”Practicing the Five Animals Qigong isn’t having much effect anymore anyway. I’d rather just go out and train with the Sound Boxes!” Qin Haonan replied.

Ren Yuanyang nodded slightly and pulled out a large bag of Sound Boxes from the nearby armory.

”Let’s go. I’ll come with you and see just how powerful these Sound Boxes are.”

Lu Jiamei and the others came over. ”We want to see, too!”

”Let’s all go together,” Ren Yuanyang said, leading everyone onto the speedboat and heading out.

Si Youqin, who was still on patrol, was incredibly surprised to see the speedboat emerging from the Banyan Forest.

’Are they heading out on a mission this early?’

Ren Yuanyang and his group soon reached a spot one kilometer away from the Banyan Forest.

”This should be far enough,” Ren Yuanyang said, having Qin Haonan stop the speedboat.

”Leader, let me throw a couple to get a feel for it!” Qin Haonan said, rubbing his hands together.

Ren Yuanyang nodded slightly. ”Throw them far. After you throw, be ready to use your Superpowers for protection. Jiamei, Elder Hua, you two form a Water Shield and a Wooden Shield.”

”Yes!” everyone responded in unison.

Once everyone was ready, Qin Haonan immediately took out a Sound Box, pulled off the stem, and hurled it into the distance with all his might.

”Holy crap, I threw it too far!” Qin Haonan couldn’t help but curse as he watched the Sound Box fly into the distance.

His physique had improved so much after becoming an Evolver, and Ren Yuanyang had just reminded him to throw it far, so he had used all his strength.

BOOM!

He had thrown it too high, and it exploded before it even hit the water’s surface.

Shrapnel flew in all directions. The water directly beneath the explosion churned with a dense spray, as if it had been raked by machine-gun fire.

”This feels way more powerful than the Iron Melons!” Qin Haonan said excitedly.

Ren Yuanyang nodded slightly. ”Its lethality and blast radius should both be greater than the Iron Melon’s.”

”Plus, it has a delayed explosion. I feel like the clumsy old Iron Melons are about to become obsolete!” Qin Haonan said with a laugh.

”If the explosive power of the Iron Melons was doubled, and then doubled again, are you sure you’d still want to get rid of them?” Ren Yuanyang asked, glancing at him.

Qin Haonan froze, then shook his head decisively. ”Definitely not. I forgot that you can enhance their power!”

”Alright, we can talk about enhancing their power later. For now, you need to practice your aim,” Ren Yuanyang instructed. ”Make a few tin cans, place them at a distance, and practice throwing at them.”

”Yes, Leader!” Qin Haonan replied. He immediately condensed some cans from the metal he had on hand, tied them with a rope, and tossed them to a spot a hundred meters away.

Qin Haonan first crafted a round metal object of similar weight to a Sound Box. He used this for practice, planning to switch to real Sound Boxes once his accuracy improved.

Lu Jiamei and the others also trained for a while before heading back, as they had other tasks to attend to.

Meanwhile, Ren Yuanyang went over to the beehives. When Wang Feng saw him, he immediately grew nervous again and hurried toward Ren Yuanyang.

Before Wang Feng could reach him, Ren Yuanyang circled the hives once and then left.

This series of actions left Wang Feng completely bewildered.

’What is the Leader doing? Don’t tell me he’s got his eyes on the worker bees?’ Wang Feng worried. ’Thank goodness those queens are so productive. The number of worker bees is growing steadily!’

Ren Yuanyang paid no mind to the baffled Wang Feng. He had just enhanced all the bees in and around the hives.

He enhanced three aspects this time: flight speed, stinger toxicity, and honey-gathering efficiency.

Normally, these bees were just honey-gathering workers, but in a fight, they could transform into Warriors.

Enhancing so many bees in three different aspects at once left Ren Yuanyang feeling a bit drained. He decided to go back and catch a few more winks to recover his Mental Energy.

Some time later, Ren Yuanyang was woken up by Lu Jiamei.

”Leader, it’s time for breakfast!”

Ren Yuanyang glanced at the time on his phone. It was already eight o’clock.

By the time he got to the dining table, Qin Haonan was already wolfing down his food.

”How’s the practice going?” Ren Yuanyang asked casually as he sat down.

”At a hundred meters, I can get the landing point within a one-meter margin of error,” Qin Haonan replied after taking a sip of congee.

”Sounds like you’ve made significant progress,” Ren Yuanyang said with a smile.

”I’ll practice more today and try to improve my accuracy even further,” Qin Haonan said, shaking his head slightly. He was clearly not satisfied with his results.

Ren Yuanyang nodded. ”Right. Keep it up.”

Qin Haonan quickly finished the congee in his bowl, wiped his mouth, and turned to head outside.

”Elder Hua, next we need to research how to produce our own semi-finished Evolution Potions,” Ren Yuanyang said, ignoring Qin Haonan and turning to Hua Lingfang.

Hua Lingfang was taken aback. ”Has the Aircraft Carrier Base refused to sell us any more semi-finished Evolution Potions?”

”That’s not it,” Ren Yuanyang said, shaking his head. ”However, Wang Jun was probing for information yesterday. To prevent him from guessing our base’s situation, I lied and said we could already produce our own semi-finished Evolution Potions...”

Ren Yuanyang briefly and clearly recounted his conversation with Wang Jun from the previous day.

Understanding dawned on Hua Lingfang’s face, but then his brow furrowed. ”But we don’t have the necessary purification equipment!”

”It’s fine. We can take our time with the research. We have more than enough semi-finished Evolution Potions at the base for now,” Ren Yuanyang replied with a smile. ”Let’s try to find a purification method that doesn’t rely on that equipment.”

Hua Lingfang nodded and fell into deep thought.

Lu Jiamei spoke up, ”If we can’t rely on scientific equipment, then we’ll have to rely on our Superpowers.”

”Exactly. But we’ll need to do some thorough research,” Ren Yuanyang agreed.

After breakfast, Ren Yuanyang and Hua Lingfang went to the lab.

Ren Yuanyang took out a semi-finished Evolution Potion and began to sense it with his Mental Energy.

Hua Lingfang tried to sense it as well, but he couldn’t perceive anything inside the semi-finished Evolution Potion at all.

’Do you need to be a Water-Type Evolver to sense it?’ Hua Lingfang muttered to himself. ’I should have brought Jiamei along.’

But as a Chaos-Type Evolver, Ren Yuanyang could clearly sense the substances within the semi-finished Evolution Potion.

This wasn’t actually surprising. All things begin from chaos, so naturally, nothing could escape the senses of a Chaos-Type Evolver.

’The concentration of this special substance doesn’t seem particularly high, does it?’ Ren Yuanyang’s brow furrowed, and he immediately began to strip away the impurities and water.

It was a delicate task.

Seeing Ren Yuanyang lost in concentration, Hua Lingfang didn’t disturb him and went out to find Lu Jiamei.

By the time they returned, Ren Yuanyang had already separated the impurities and water.

’I actually succeeded!’ It was Ren Yuanyang’s first time using his Mental Energy to separate and purify the unknown substance. Although he was a bit clumsy, his success filled him with confidence. He believed he could definitely produce semi-finished Evolution Potions, and that their quality would be even better than the ones from the Aircraft Carrier Base.

Just then, he noticed that Hua Lingfang had returned with Lu Jiamei.

”Jiamei, what are you doing here?” Ren Yuanyang asked, looking at the two of them with some confusion.
