Global Flood: I Survive on Duckweed

Chapter 222: Chapter 168: Wang Jun’s Probe, Another Riot

Seeing the excitement on their faces, Ren Yuanyang spoke again. ”Peach Blossom Base needs your loyalty. Nothing else matters—loyalty is number one. Do you understand?”

”Rest assured, Leader. We will be loyal to Peach Blossom Base and to you!”

Si Youqin, seeing that the others were still processing, was the first to pledge her loyalty.

Hearing Si Youqin’s words, the others snapped out of their joyful shock and repeated what she had just said in unison.

Ren Yuanyang nodded slightly. ”Elder Hua, you can administer the injections now.”

”Of course!” Hua Lingfang took out the Evolution Potions and began injecting the twenty women.

”Based on our current observations, there are basically no side effects to worry about after using the Purification Potion. However, if any of you feel unwell, you must inform us immediately!” Ren Yuanyang continued.

”Yes, Leader!” everyone answered in unison.

”Jiamei, once they’ve finished evolving, I need you to record their types,” Ren Yuanyang instructed Lu Jiamei, who was standing beside him. He then stood up and headed off the yacht.

”Understood,” Lu Jiamei replied with a slight nod.

Hua Lingfang quickly finished administering the Evolution Potions to everyone. Lu Jiamei then addressed them, ”In twelve hours, you will become Evolvers. You must all return here at seven o’clock this evening to report your types to me. Is that clear?”

”Understood!” they all answered in unison.

After Lu Jiamei and Hua Lingfang left, the women immediately began to buzz with conversation.

”I feel like I’m dreaming. We actually got to take the Evolution Potion!”

”I know, the Leader is so good to us!”

”We should also thank Minister Lu. If it weren’t for her request, we probably would have had to wait several more days!”

”That’s right! The leaders at Peach Blossom Base aren’t stuck-up at all. No one’s ever treated me this well. I feel like all my bad luck vanished the moment I met Ziyu and came to Peach Blossom Base!”

Si Youqin looked at them, her voice filled with emotion. ”By becoming Evolvers, we’re making a clean break from the past and starting anew. From now on, let’s follow the Leader, follow Peach Blossom Base, and stride boldly into the future! Let’s do our best, sisters!”

Everyone nodded, deeply agreeing with her sentiment. They all had painful pasts they’d rather not revisit, but that was all behind them now. Becoming Evolvers was the start of their new lives!

Ren Yuanyang returned to the central warehouse in the Banyan Forest and found some cucumber seeds. He wanted to try out his Wood-Type Superpower as well.

Under his influence, the cucumber seeds quickly sprouted into seedlings. But when he tried to force the plants to bear fruit, he found he didn’t have enough Mental Energy!

’So, a Wood-Type Skill can accelerate a plant’s growth, but forcing it to flower and bear fruit consumes an enormous amount of Mental Energy.’

This was also why many bases considered Wood-Type Evolvers to be of limited value.

’Of course, for leafy greens, a Wood-Type Evolver could certainly produce a large supply very quickly. But in our current situation, we have to save seeds for the long run. That means we still need to let some plants mature and bear fruit to guarantee our seed supply.’

’Saving seeds takes time, which delays the planting of the next crop.’

”The system is so much easier,” Ren Yuanyang sighed.

’However, the advantages of a Wood-Type Superpower in combat were much more obvious. It could control plants, moving them at will within the reach of his Mental Energy, and even change their shapes and combine them freely!’

Ren Yuanyang glanced at a nearby bamboo chair. It immediately flew into the air, transforming into a Bamboo Sword, then shifting into a Bamboo Shield, before finally reverting to its original form and landing back on the floor.

’This kind of shapeshifting consumed far less Mental Energy than making plants grow!’

Just as Ren Yuanyang was having fun testing his Superpower, his phone suddenly rang.

He opened his phone and saw a message from Wang Jun.

”Brother Yang, I was wondering, has production started for the Evolution Potions?”

”Production is underway,” Ren Yuanyang replied. ”Let’s make the trade the morning after tomorrow. I’ll give you the exact location beforehand. We’ll do it the same way as last time.”

”Sounds good. I’ve got the seeds ready on my end. By the way, do you need us to prepare any semi-finished Evolution Potions?” Wang Jun asked, his tone deliberately casual.

A thought crossed Ren Yuanyang’s mind. He immediately typed back, ”Our own Evolution Potion tests were successful, so we don’t need any for the time being. Besides, you already gave us the research data to produce the semi-finished version, right? We’re able to produce enough on our own now!”

”Alright then. If you ever need any, we’ve still got some in stock you can have,” Wang Jun replied, sounding very generous.

”Thanks for keeping us in mind, Captain Wang!” Ren Yuanyang typed back.

After the chat ended, Ren Yuanyang narrowed his eyes, deep in thought.

’He knew Wang Jun was testing him. He was trying to gauge the number of new Evolvers at Peach Blossom Base by seeing how many semi-finished potions they requested.’

’Even though their factions weren’t enemies, they both wanted to know what cards the other was holding.’

Ren Yuanyang’s firm refusal of the Aircraft Carrier Base’s semi-finished product left Wang Jun completely unable to deduce Peach Blossom Base’s situation.

During their last trade, Peach Blossom Base had only taken one hundred semi-finished Evolution Potions, ostensibly for research. Surely the base didn’t only have one hundred people?

But now that Ren Yuanyang claimed Peach Blossom Base could produce its own supply, it became completely impossible to make any deductions!

He shared this information with Ji Yizhi and Long Zhan, then asked, ”Do you think Taoyuan Yang is bluffing? That Peach Blossom Base can’t actually produce the semi-finished Evolution Potions themselves?”
