Global Flood: I Survive on Duckweed

Chapter 214: Chapter 166: Finalizing the Deal, We’re Not in a Hurry

Staring at the message from Ren Yuanyang, Wang Jun muttered to himself, ’Didn’t he say it would take two days? It’s only been one, and Peach Blossom Base has already finished testing. Are they sure the Evolution Potion has no side effects?’

Though incredibly surprised, Wang Jun still replied, ”Understood. I’ll get the list compiled as soon as possible!”

After a moment’s hesitation, he sent another message: ”Has your base truly confirmed that this Evolution Potion has no side effects? Don’t the results for an Evolution Potion take at least twenty-four hours to come out?”

The Licorice Decoction that Peach Blossom Base had provided them came from licorice that was, at best, twice-enhanced, which was why it required at least twenty-four hours.

”Our base has its own way of making that determination. You can wait if you’d like. We’re in no rush for this trade!” Ren Yuanyang held all the cards. Peach Blossom Base was already using the Evolution Potion and lacked neither food nor energy. If the Aircraft Carrier Base wanted to take its time with confirmation, he’d let them.

”Understood. I’ll compile our Aircraft Carrier Base’s seed information as quickly as possible and contact you once I’m finished!” Wang Jun responded.

After ending the chat, Wang Jun immediately shared the message with the other two captains.

”What do you two think?” Wang Jun asked, his brow furrowed.

”I say we go ahead with the trade. I trust in Peach Blossom Base’s strength, though of course, that’s still just my gut feeling!” Long Zhan said without a trace of hesitation.

”I also think we should trade!” Ji Yizhi spoke up.

Wang Jun and Long Zhan stared at Ji Yizhi, completely astonished.

He was always the one who questioned Peach Blossom Base the most, yet this time he was choosing to trust them!

Seeing their astonished expressions, Ji Yizhi said in a low voice, ”Our lab hasn’t been able to replicate Peach Blossom Base’s potion, have they?”

Wang Jun nodded slightly. Although it had only been three short days, the lab had already tried countless times, and every single attempt had ended in failure.

The potion looked simple. They could even isolate and purify some of the main ingredients. But no matter how high they raised the concentration, they could never replicate the effects of Peach Blossom Base’s potion.

This left the lab’s director, Zhao Jun, feeling utterly defeated. For the first time, he felt that rigorous scientific research had actually lost out to some seemingly slapdash herbal medicine!

”So, even if we don’t use the potions immediately, we still need to trade for them!” Ji Yizhi concluded.

Wang Jun and Long Zhan nodded, completely agreeing with him.

Ji Yizhi continued, ”According to the lab’s observations of the test subjects who have completed their evolution, everything is normal. In fact, their physical constitutions are incredibly robust, which strongly suggests that there are most likely no side effects!”

Of course, Zhao Jun himself would never dare to conclude there were no side effects. Since he couldn’t even replicate Peach Blossom Base’s potion, he naturally worried there might be dangerous substances he was unable to detect.

Ji Yizhi paused before continuing, ”More importantly, we’re currently facing attacks from evolved and mutated fish. If we don’t have enough Evolvers, those floating farms on the surface will be constantly harassed and destroyed. If this goes on, our food supply will definitely be in trouble!”

”Exactly. With the Evolution Potion, more people can become Evolvers, which means more Wood-Type Evolvers too. Not only will we be able to fend off the fish attacks, but we can also increase the growth speed of our crops,” Long Zhan added in agreement.

Wang Jun nodded. ”In that case, we need to discuss whether we should offer up all the seeds from the National Seed Bank.”

When the great flood came, the National Seed Bank had transferred all of its preserved plant seeds onto the Lu Ban aircraft carrier fleet.

Although the seed bank was on the Lu Ban aircraft carrier fleet, accessing the seeds inside required the unanimous consent of all three captains.

In their previous trades with Peach Blossom Base, the aircraft carrier fleet had only used seeds they had acquired from commercial seed companies.

The National Seed Bank was a resource of critical importance, not to be tapped into lightly.

”I think we should. Peach Blossom Base isn’t asking for much—only ten seeds of each variety. That won’t significantly impact the seed bank’s integrity. Besides, since they have botanical experts, giving the seeds to them is another way of ensuring these species survive!” Long Zhan argued.

Ji Yizhi frowned in thought for a long moment before speaking. ”I agree with Captain Long’s assessment, but I don’t think we should give them everything. Let’s start with just a portion!”

”Peach Blossom Base only ever sends a single speedboat for these trades. They’d have a hard time taking everything anyway. Let’s start with a quarter. We’ll prioritize agricultural crops and fill in the rest with a random selection of others,” Wang Jun said, nodding in agreement.

”That works,” Long Zhan agreed. ”Even a quarter of it is over ninety thousand types of plant seeds! That should keep them busy for a while!”

The National Seed Bank held over 360,000 plant seed samples, all of which were from common plants found within Dragon Country.

The International Seed Bank, by contrast, stored over a million seed samples!

If they ever had the chance to find the International Seed Bank, Ren Yuanyang would no longer need to search the entire world for plants.

But the International Seed Bank hadn’t been built within Dragon Country’s borders; it was on a small island belonging to River Bird Country. When the flood came, River Bird Country would certainly have moved all the seeds out. Where they were now was anyone’s guess.

Now that they had decided to open the National Seed Bank, Ji Yizhi and the other two captains went directly to the bank’s custody office on the Lu Ban aircraft carrier to explain their purpose to the custodian.
