Global Flood: I Survive on Duckweed

Chapter 201: Chapter 161: Successful Experiment, Live Subject Experiment

All the researchers looked over at Wang Jun curiously.

”We’ve acquired three types of potions. When mixed with the Evolution Potion, they can solve our current problem!” Wang Jun explained. ”Everyone’s task now is to formulate the new Evolution Potion and then conduct live-subject experiments!”

Hearing this, Zhao Jun was completely stunned. He immediately frowned and said, ”Captain, where did this potion come from? What are its specific components? If we conduct live-subject experiments without knowing anything, we could very well waste those captives!”

”This is a potion developed by Peach Blossom Base. They’ve tested it on lab mice with a one hundred percent success rate. They know we have captives from Lvzhi Country, which is why they asked us to assist with the live-subject experiments,” Wang Jun explained.

”What about their experimental data? We should at least verify it!” Zhao Jun’s brow remained furrowed.

”I know you’re worried they’ve just given us some random potion to deceive us. But right now, we are only assisting. You can study the components of their potion, but the live-subject experiments must be done. That’s an order!” Wang Jun’s tone was incredibly stern.

Zhao Jun froze for a moment. Though extremely reluctant, he still stood at attention and saluted. ”Yes, sir!”

Wang Jun then told him the mixing ratios and the quantity of potions to be produced for each type.

”Peach Blossom Base said they’re concerned about potential losses during the formulation process, so each type should be enough to make fifty-five vials of Evolution Potion. Be careful during formulation. You can use any extra vials for your own research,” Wang Jun said in closing.

”Yes, sir!” Zhao Jun replied, then immediately gathered the researchers to begin the formulation.

When the researchers opened the metal boxes, a rich aroma of Chinese herbal medicine wafted out.

”Is this Chinese herbal medicine?”

”Judging by the smell, it really seems to be. Don’t tell me Peach Blossom Base is trying to use traditional Chinese medicine to temper the volatility of the Evolution Potion?”

”Isn’t that a bit far-fetched?”

”Far-fetched or not, the higher-ups gave the order, so we have to follow it!”

”Chinese herbal medicine... this is just too unreliable!”

Zhao Jun was supervising from the side and naturally overheard their discussion. He shook his head with equal helplessness and turned to walk out of the sterile lab.

The three captains were still waiting outside.

Seeing how seriously the three captains were taking this, Zhao Jun felt a bit helpless. He stepped forward and said, ”Captains, we just opened the three metal boxes. Based on the aroma and appearance, we can basically determine that these are herbal decoctions made from Chinese medicinal herbs.”

Hearing this, Wang Jun and the other two were also stunned.

”You’re kidding, right? Peach Blossom Base’s methods are that unorthodox?” Ji Yizhi’s face was filled with disbelief.

Long Zhan, on the other hand, was pleasantly surprised. ”This might actually work! Our country’s traditional Chinese medicine has a history of several thousand years, while Western medicine is only a few hundred years old. Traditional Chinese medicine is definitely not to be underestimated!”

Wang Jun didn’t comment, instead asking, ”Since we’ve confirmed it’s herbal medicine, can you analyze which specific herbs were used?”

”Of course. That won’t be difficult at all!” Zhao Jun said with immense confidence.

”Good. Analyze it as soon as possible,” Wang Jun ordered.

Zhao Jun nodded and turned to leave.

Ji Yizhi, who had been pondering at the side, suddenly spoke up, ”I think I’ve already guessed one of the herbs!”

Wang Jun and Long Zhan both froze, looking at him in confusion.

”Do you remember when Peach Blossom Base was specifically trying to acquire licorice plants?” Ji Yizhi prompted.

Realization dawned on Wang Jun and the other man.

”That’s right. It seems Peach Blossom Base only proposed acquiring licorice plants after they saw the experimental data I provided!” Wang Jun added.

Long Zhan nodded. ”No wonder they went out of their way to harass Dawn Base. It was all for that licorice!”

”We were all fooled by him!” Wang Jun shook his head with a bitter smile. ”He even swore up and down on the regional channel that licorice wasn’t an essential resource for him!”

”Maybe they didn’t actually fool us,” Long Zhan said. ”He just wanted it to research the Evolution Potion. The leader of Peach Blossom Base is probably already an Evolver, so for him personally, it really isn’t an essential item.”

Wang Jun and Ji Yizhi were slightly taken aback, then nodded in agreement.

A new doubt surfaced in Wang Jun’s mind. ’If they were planning to use herbal medicine, why didn’t he just ask us for some when I mentioned we had a stockpile?’
