After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 1888: Chapter 1892: Putting On a Show for Others

Duke’s Mansion.

Jiao Yang was lying on the bed, the doctor was helping him change to a new layer of gauze.

His injury wasn’t very serious, just some skin abrasions, and after these two days of recuperation, most of the wounds had already scabbed over, but there were a few deeper wounds that still had tender red flesh.

After applying medicine to the last wound, the doctor straightened up, putting away his tools and miscellaneous items.

”Sir, it’s done.”

”Thank you.”

Jiao Yang thanked him, braced his arms, and got up from the bed.

”Madam!”

Upon seeing the Duchess Jiao Yalin walk in, the doctor immediately greeted her politely.

”How is Augus’s (Jiao Yang’s English name) injury?” Jiao Yalin asked.

”Most of Sir’s injuries have healed, only some deeper wounds need more time,” the doctor reassured her with a smile, ”You don’t need to worry, in three to five days, everything will be back to normal.”

”Thank you.” Jiao Yalin gratefully nodded, ”Butler, please see the doctor out.”

”Yes!”

The butler who walked in with her immediately escorted the doctor out.

Seeing Jiao Yang picking up the T-shirt on the hanger, Jiao Yalin hurried over to help, noticing the old scars on his back, she raised her eyebrows in confusion and asked in Chinese, ”What’s the matter with these?”

The new wounds were scratches, but these old scars were quite extensive, she had never known her son to have such large scars.

”Nothing.”

Knowing she referred to the old burn on his back caused by shielding Luo Xiaoqian from the heat, Jiao Yang calmly pulled down the T-shirt.

Jiao Yalin helped him adjust the T-shirt, ”Your father has arranged a banquet for you; tomorrow evening, the two daughters from the Loh Yi Family will come over.”

Jiao Yang raised an eyebrow and turned to look at his mother, ”Do you wish for me to choose one of them as my wife, too?”

Looking up at her son, Jiao Yalin’s face carried a faint worry.

”Yang Yang, I heard your father talk about your situation. I know Miss Luo is indeed a very outstanding girl, but she is already married. The feelings between her and Leng Zimo, I think you understand them better than I do. What’s the point in being so persistent?”

As a mother, Jiao Yalin certainly hoped her son would have a happy marriage, not like her own, stuck in a painful family.

However, she also knew Luo Xiaoqian was not the choice Jiao Yang should have.

”There was a time when you indulged yourself, and during that period, I always hoped you would know what true love is. But now, I hope you understand, not every relationship can have a happy ending.”

”So, you want me to end with a wrong marriage too, just like you and father, maintaining a seemingly loving facade in front of others, using my life to put on a show for others?!”

”No, Yang Yang...” Jiao Yalin raised her hand to hold his arm, ”I hope you can have a love that truly belongs to you, a happiness that is truly yours.”

Then she carefully slipped a ticket and his passport out from her sleeve.

”The banquet will be at the Loh Yi family’s place; how you leave is up to you. I will have someone park the car at the back door.”

Looking at the ticket and passport placed in front of him, Jiao Yang was only stunned, ”If he finds out...”
