After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 1529: Chapter 1533: He Still Worries About One Person

”Any discoveries yet?!” Leng Zirui asked in a deep voice as he walked into the autopsy room under the leadership of the bureau.

”There are no traces of any drugs in the body, but the alcohol content is quite high. Our conclusion is accidental drowning after drinking,” a police officer replied.

”Have you checked the surveillance footage?” Leng Zirui asked.

”The surveillance shows no one entered his room during the incident time.”

Leng Zirui walked over to the autopsy table and looked carefully at Ji Li’s body, noticing a small bruise on his elbow. He raised an eyebrow slightly, ”What’s going on here?!”

The forensic officer shrugged, ”This could be from his struggle during the drowning, an accidental bump, or perhaps it was an injury he got at another time.”

Leng Zirui took off his gloves and turned to walk toward the door, ”Where is the surveillance footage? I want to have a look!”

The person in charge immediately led him into an office and instructed subordinates to bring up the footage from cameras near Ji Li’s room during the relevant time period.

In the footage, there was never even half a person in sight; everything seemed completely normal. Yet, Leng Zirui distinctly sensed something abnormal.

Ji Li’s guest room was at the entrance of the corridor. If one wanted to enter other rooms on this floor, they would definitely have to pass by his door. The incident time was supposedly around eleven at night, during which time it’s impossible for no one to have walked past Ji Li’s doorway; the footage was too clean, too clean to be real.

”Have you interviewed the nearby guests?!” he asked, staring at the screen.

”We’ve already checked. Several guests claimed they heard nothing and saw no one,” the officer said.

”Recheck everything, closely investigate who Ji Li has been interacting with recently.” Leng Zirui stood up and walked out of the office.

”Boss!” Seo Shaochuan immediately followed, ”You think something’s off?”

”It’s likely a murder. The person who did this is a pro!” Leng Zirui said.

”This guy Ji Li, he’d defend even the devil as long as he got paid. Everyone calls him the Devil’s Advocate. I’ve checked his background, before coming to Beijing, he had just defended a child molester, who was acquitted at the end. This type of guy makes me want to kill him myself!” Seo Shaochuan said angrily.

Leng Zirui frowned slightly, saying nothing.

In fact, he wasn’t genuinely concerned about whether Ji Li lived or died.

Such scum, dying a hundred times wouldn’t be enough to grieve.

But Ji Li was Seo Fei’s defense lawyer, and him dying abruptly now is definitely not good news for Leng Zirui.

”I’m just worried this might have something to do with Cobra!”

Besides Cobra, there was someone else he was worried about.

That person was his eldest brother, Leng Zimo.

Looking at the current situation, Leng Zimo is evidently more likely involved. Ji Li helping Seo Fei is somewhat equivalent to helping Cobra, while Cobra likely doesn’t have the motive to kill him just yet.

So, does that mean my brother... has started moving?!”

Golden Courtyard.

Seo Fei just got up and sat at breakfast when Shanxia Junzi told her about Ji Li’s situation.

Hearing about Ji Li’s death, Seo Fei’s heart instantly started racing, ”What happened?!”

”The current conclusion is accidental drowning after drinking,” Shanxia Junzi slightly furrowed her brows, ”But from what I know, he’s not someone who often drinks himself to drunkenness, especially when handling cases. There might be more to this.”

Good afternoon.
