Married the Sick Uncle – Just Waiting to Inherit His Fortune

Stella Shields said, ”How can I not get involved? Didn’t Auntie want you to be with Faye Yorke?”

”Faye Yorke and I aren’t together. We’ve already broken up.” Nathan Fawcett looked at Stella Shields. If it weren’t for Ethan Linden, he would find her truly annoying.

’She always treats my business as if it were her own, always sticking her nose where it doesn’t belong! I despise meddlesome women!’

Stella Shields froze for a moment. She hadn’t expected this. ’Even with someone as eligible as Faye Yorke, Nathan wasn’t interested?’

She said, ”Even so, you can’t just bring Anne Sutton in here! You know how much Auntie hates her! If Auntie finds out, she’ll definitely throw Anne Sutton out.”

At this, she turned to Anne Sutton and said, ”Anne Sutton, you’ve got some nerve showing up here! Don’t you know how unwelcome you are? Don’t get too comfortable; this is the Fawcett Residence!”

”When did it become your place to lecture someone of mine?” Nathan Fawcett’s tone was sharp with displeasure.

He used to be quite fond of Stella Shields.

But ever since the events in Westhaven, his attitude toward her had soured.

After all, she’d even dared to bully Ian. How could Nathan possibly stand the sight of her after that?

Stella Shields stiffened. She hadn’t expected Nathan to be so quick to rush to Anne’s defense and target her, especially when Anne hadn’t even said a word. ”I’m just looking out for you,” she explained. ”She was so awful before. She even threatened to expose your identity.”

’As for me, no matter what, I would never do anything to hurt Nathan like Anne did!’

”My business is none of your concern.”

With that, Nathan turned to Anne Sutton and said, ”Go have a seat on the sofa. Would you like some water?” He was completely ignoring Stella Shields.

Anne Sutton said, ”Yes, thank you.”

She was, in fact, a little thirsty.

Ian held Anne Sutton’s hand and said to Nathan Fawcett, ”Daddy, can Mommy stay in my room tonight?”

Nathan Fawcett glanced at him and said, ”No.”

”Why not?” Ian said. ”I want to stay with Mommy!”

Nathan Fawcett said, ”Boys and girls should have their own space. She has her own room.”

Ian pouted, a little unhappy. After all, back at Anne Sutton’s house, they had been able to stay together!

Standing to the side, Stella Shields watched this scene, her brow furrowed. From the way Nathan was acting, he really did intend to have Anne move back in!

Heh...

’Back in Westhaven, there was nothing I could do about them, but now... Not a chance!’

Just then, Anna Linden and Chloe Chase came down from upstairs.

Seeing the two of them, Stella Shields rushed over as if she had seen her saviors. ”Auntie! Look at Ethan, he actually brought Anne Sutton home!”

Stella Shields quickly tattled, hoping Anna Linden would throw Anne Sutton out.

Anne Sutton raised her head and glanced at Anna Linden. Seeing that Nathan had brought Anne over, Anna thought to herself, ’Chloe was right. It really is more effective to have Nathan go get her.’

’Last time I practically begged her, and she still refused. That was a clear slap in the face, wasn’t it?’

’But...’

’There’s no better way right now.’

Given Nathan’s current situation, it had been hard enough to get Anne to come. Anna didn’t dare say anything to upset her, afraid she would scare her away again.

She looked at Stella Shields and said, ”You’re back?”

Stella Shields said, ”I just finished a shoot. I’m exhausted.”

After she spoke, she shot a look at Anne Sutton. ’How ridiculous. Does Anne really think she can do whatever she wants around here just because she has Nathan backing her up? Doesn’t she know where she is!’

Anna Linden said, ”Go get some rest.”

”But, Anne Sutton... Ethan said he’s going to have her live here from now on. How can that be?”

Hearing Stella Shields’s words, Anna Linden said, ”I already know about this.”

”You knew?” Stella Shields was stunned. ’Anna knows, but she isn’t angry? And seeing Anne now, she isn’t trying to throw her out like she did before? What... is going on?’

Stella Shields was completely lost.

Anna Linden said, ”I have to go out for a bit. I have some things to take care of.”

With that, she walked out the door with Chloe Chase following behind her. Stella Shields, not ready to give up, tried to follow. ”Auntie.”

Chloe Chase blocked her way and said, ”The Madam has business to attend to right now. You should go get some rest first.”

She glanced at Stella Shields, signaling for her not to press the issue any further.

Anne Sutton moving in was already a done deal!

Anna Linden herself had approved it!

Chloe Chase had always been protective of Stella Shields. The fact that even she was stopping her proved it wasn’t the right time to talk. Stella had no choice but to stop.

Still, as she stood by the door, she remained completely baffled. ’Why?’

Anne Sutton sat on the sofa, sipping her water. Seeing the utterly bewildered look on Stella Shields’s face as she stood by the door, the corners of her lips curved up. From the looks of it, Stella probably still had no idea what was going on.

’Anna probably didn’t tell Stella about it! After all, a situation like this is pretty humiliating, no matter how you look at it.’

Stella Shields walked back over, completely baffled. She stared at Anne Sutton and demanded, ”Anne Sutton, what kind of tricks did you pull to get to move in here?”

Anne Sutton said, ”I came because I wanted to. I don’t need to explain myself to you, do I?”

Stella Shields said, ”But...”

’It’s one thing for Nathan to be bewitched by her, but how is even Anna acting like this?’

Seeing Anna Linden’s attitude, Stella Shields felt like she was about to have a breakdown.

Nathan Fawcett, sitting to the side, looked at Stella Shields and said, ”Anne Sutton will be living here from now on. She is Ian’s mother, so be polite to her. If you can’t accept that, you can also move out. I don’t mind having someone pack your things for you right now.”

Hearing Nathan Fawcett’s words, Stella Shields’s eyes turned red, and large tears began to fall, even more convincingly than when she was acting.

She looked at Nathan Fawcett and said, ”Ethan, we’re best friends. How could you do this to me for her sake? You’re actually trying to kick me out?”

Nathan Fawcett said, ”It’s you who doesn’t understand your place.”

”...” Stella fell silent. Hearing his words and looking at this ice-cold man, she had no doubt that if she pushed him too far, he really would throw her out.

She wiped her tears and went upstairs.

Anne Sutton watched her back as she left, then her gaze fell on Nathan. ”So cruel,” she teased. ”She likes you so much, and you have to be so heartless.”

”Would it kill you not to make fun of me?” Nathan Fawcett raised an eyebrow at her.

The butler came downstairs and said, ”Sir, Ms. Sutton’s things have been taken up.”

Nathan Fawcett said, ”You’ll be in the same room you stayed in last time.”

Hearing him, Anne Sutton nodded. ”Okay.”

Ian said to Anne Sutton, ”Mommy, let’s go see your room!”

Anne Sutton looked at the little guy, a smile playing on her lips. ”Okay.”

She picked up Ian and went upstairs.
