Married the Sick Uncle – Just Waiting to Inherit His Fortune

’With a weak personality like hers, she’ll definitely agree to Sean Sutton’s proposal for the sake of Anne Sutton’s future.’

’Once those two children are back in the Sutton family, it’ll be a piece of cake for me to move in.’

She had been dreaming of being Mrs. Sutton for far too long!

She even dreamed about it.

She wanted to make public appearances, just like Mrs. Sutton.

...

Just then, Sean Sutton called back. ”I’m not coming over today.”

”Why?” Maya Evans was still lost in her pleasant daydream. She had spent the entire afternoon cooking, waiting for Sean Sutton to come and eat.

And it was her son’s birthday, too.

’And now he’s saying he can’t make it!’

Maya Evans said, ”You’re not going to see that old hag again, are you? She already kicked you out.”

”It’s about the company!” Sean Sutton said, his head throbbing.

Maya Evans said, ”Isn’t the company doing fine? Today is Dylan’s birthday, and you promised you’d be here! How could you do this? This was a rare chance for you to celebrate his birthday with him.”

”I have other things to deal with,” Sean Sutton said.

Nathan Fawcett had cut off his line of funding completely.

Sean Sutton recalled what Anne Sutton had said to him the other day.

’Judging by her attitude, was she really getting revenge on me?’

’She’s with Nathan Fawcett now. If something like this happens, he would definitely help her!’

At that thought, Sean Sutton completely lost his appetite, all thoughts of his son’s birthday forgotten.

...

Anne Sutton followed Nathan Fawcett into the car. She had just sat down when her phone rang.

She glanced at the screen and said to Nathan Fawcett, ”It’s my dad. It must be about the company.”

Without a second thought, she hung up.

’I never want to see my father again!’

Anne Sutton had barely hung up when her phone rang again.

Seeing he wasn’t going to give up until she answered, Anne Sutton simply blocked his number.

...

When they got home, Anne Sutton went to make dinner.

For the past few days, while her foot was injured, the housekeeper had been making all the meals.

Ian loved her cooking and had been craving it badly.

As she was cooking, the butler came in and said to Anne Sutton, ”Madam, President Sutton is here.”

”Where is he?” Anne Sutton asked.

”He’s at the front gate. The guards just called.”

Anne Sutton said, ”Tell him to leave. Just say I don’t want to see him, and that he shouldn’t come back again.”

The butler nodded. ”Very well. So if he comes again, I’ll tell him that directly?”

”Yes,” Anne Sutton replied. ”In any case, I don’t want to see him.”

The butler glanced at her. Knowing her family’s situation, he left without another word.

...

Outside, Sean Sutton’s car was parked by the gate. He stood there as a security guard, having just gotten off the phone with the butler, said to him, ”I’m sorry, they said they don’t wish to see you. We can’t let you in.”

”I’m Anne Sutton’s father!” Sean Sutton said. ”What right does she have to keep me out?”

’It was never this hard to visit the Fawcett estate before.’

’But now...’

He had been waiting here for ages. It was nighttime and getting cold, yet he wasn’t allowed in.

They wouldn’t even give him a chance to have a sip of water.

’What an unfilial daughter!’

The security guard looked at Sean Sutton helplessly. ”Sorry, there’s nothing we can do.”

Sean Sutton looked at the Fawcett family’s guards. They were all tall and imposing. An old man like him was no match for them, and he certainly couldn’t force his way in.

He stood there for a moment longer, then got into his car and drove off, cursing under his breath.

...

Sean Sutton’s company hadn’t been doing well in recent years. At first, Charles Prescott had been helping him, and now it was Nathan Fawcett.

The moment Nathan Fawcett pulled his funding, the situation became dire.

He was terrified that one wrong move would bankrupt the company.

At that point, forget about bringing his son and daughter into the Sutton family—he might even end up in jail.

...

He drove back to Maya Evans’s place and walked in.

Maya Evans saw him and said, ”I thought you weren’t coming back. Business all wrapped up?”

Her tone was passive-aggressive.

Sean Sutton sat down. Seeing him, Yvonne Evans asked, ”Dad, what’s wrong? Did something happen?”

Her words made Maya Evans notice Sean Sutton’s sour expression. ”What happened?” she asked.

”Ethan Linden isn’t handling the company’s affairs anymore!” Sean Sutton said.

”Why not?” Maya Evans asked. ”Isn’t he Nathan Fawcett’s brother? And didn’t Anne Sutton marry into the Fawcett family? You should get her to put in a good word for you.”

”How could she possibly speak up for me? She’s probably the one who told Ethan Linden to do this.”

”That rotten girl!” Hearing this, Maya Evans sneered. ”And here you were, telling me how capable your daughter is. Now you see! The moment a problem crops up, she won’t even acknowledge her own father. Mina Ford sure did a number on them. Both her daughters only listen to her and have no respect for you, their father. They’re nothing like our Dylan and Yvonne.”

As she put down Anne Sutton and Sharon Sutton, she didn’t forget to praise her own two children.

Sean Sutton sat to the side, in no mood for this. His mind was consumed with the company’s uncertain future.

He kept wondering what he should do.

...

Seeing his silence and grim expression, Maya Evans said, ”The company will be fine, right? Mr. Sutton, it’s such a large company. It can’t possibly go bankrupt, can it?”

After all, Sean Sutton’s company had been in business for many years.

Maya Evans was still quite confident in it.

Otherwise, she wouldn’t be so eager to become Mrs. Sutton.

But seeing the look on Sean Sutton’s face now, she began to worry.

Sean Sutton glanced at her. ”I’m working on it.”

...

For the next two days, Sean Sutton tried every way he could to contact Anne Sutton.

However, he discovered that not only could he not get through to Anne Sutton’s phone, but he also couldn’t get into Mrs. Sutton’s hospital room.

Nathan Fawcett had arranged for people to stand guard at the hospital, and he was stopped outside every time he went.

Anne Sutton went to the hospital during the day to see her mother.

Sharon Sutton happened to be there as well.

She looked at Anne Sutton and said, ”Sis.”

”Didn’t I tell you to rest at home?” Anne Sutton said. ”Why are you here?”

”I was worried you’d be too tired taking care of Mom by yourself.”

”What’s there to be tired about?” Anne Sutton glanced at her mother, then said to Sharon Sutton, ”There are people at the hospital to look after her.”

They were all people arranged by Nathan Fawcett.

He was afraid she would get worn out.

So he had arranged for caregivers to be at the hospital twenty-four hours a day.

All Anne Sutton had to do was come and chat with her mother.

”Oh, right,” Sharon Sutton said. ”Dad called me. He asked me to get in touch with you.”

”What did he say?”

”He talked about his company. He said that, no matter what, he’s still our dad, and that you shouldn’t be so heartless. Did something happen to his company?”

Anne Sutton looked at Sharon Sutton. ”Isn’t he trying to bring his other children into the family? And trying to make Mom accept them? Then let him deal with his own problems. Why is he coming to me? I’m in no mood to deal with him right now.”

’Even if the company survives, it would just be for the benefit of his illegitimate children.’

Sharon Sutton said worriedly, ”But what if Dad’s company really does go bankrupt...?”
