Married the Sick Uncle – Just Waiting to Inherit His Fortune

”...” Charles Prescott looked at Nathan Fawcett, completely surprised...

He said, ”You’re willing to let me marry her?”

He never thought Nathan Fawcett would actually agree to let him marry Anne Sutton!

’If I just marry Anne Sutton, I’ll have everything?’

Nathan Fawcett said, ”She’s the one who’s in love with you.”

He knew Anne Sutton was only with him because she was forced to be.

She still liked Charles Prescott.

It was just that Charles Prescott was such a screw-up, which was why she had been so upset.

They had feelings for each other. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have been together for so long back then.

Charles Prescott was indeed a bit of a jerk.

That was why he was leaving the Fawcett Group to her, to back her up.

That way, even if he wasn’t by her side, she wouldn’t have to worry about Charles Prescott bullying her!

Nathan Fawcett said, ”If I ever find out you’ve bullied her again, I won’t let you off the hook.”

After saying this, Nathan Fawcett turned and walked away.

Charles Prescott watched Nathan Fawcett’s retreating back and let out a sigh of relief. He couldn’t believe Nathan would actually let him be with Anne Sutton.

...

’No wonder Stella Shields came to me before and told me to treat Anne Sutton better!’

’It seems it actually worked.’

...

Anne Sutton had already finished cooking and saw Nathan Fawcett return.

She placed the bowls on the table and asked, ”Where did you go?”

Nathan Fawcett sat down. ”I had something to take care of, so I went out for a bit.”

Anne Sutton looked at Nathan Fawcett and said, ”Oh, let’s eat! You must be hungry, right?”

Hearing her words, Nathan Fawcett didn’t say anything. He just glanced at her and picked up his chopsticks.

Anne Sutton looked at the dishes on the table, which included the shrimp balls that were Ian’s favorite. ”If only Ian were here.”

Hearing this, Nathan Fawcett glanced at her. ”Why bring him up all of a sudden?”

’She doesn’t even like children!’

’If she did, she wouldn’t have abandoned her child back then.’

...

After dinner, Nathan Fawcett went upstairs to pack his things.

Anne Sutton sat on the sofa. The thought of him leaving tomorrow made her feel a profound sense of unease.

But now... she couldn’t find a reason to ask him to stay.

’He’s Ethan Linden!’

’The Head of the Linden Family!’

’Everything in the Linden Family is waiting for him, and he doesn’t even like me. How could I have the nerve to ask him to stay?’

’How could I possibly keep clinging to him?’

Anne Sutton sat for a while before the butler approached her. ”These are the divorce papers. Mr. Fawcett asked me to give them to you.”

Hearing the butler’s words, Anne Sutton glanced at him, reached out, and took the divorce papers. The terms were simple: they would divorce, and everything in his name would be transferred to her.

...

There was even an itemized list.

The Fawcett Family’s real estate, and all the shares of the Fawcett Group.

Once she inherited these shares, she would become the largest shareholder of the Fawcett Group.

The old chairman’s stake in the Fawcett Group had been over fifty percent, so she would have the sole authority to decide everything. In the future, even if Charles Prescott was at the company, he would have to follow her orders.

The butler explained all the terms to her clearly. ”If there’s anything you don’t understand in the future, you can go to Chairman Grant. He is completely loyal to Mr. Fawcett, so you can trust him.”

And indeed, Chairman Grant had looked out for Anne Sutton quite a bit over the years.

Anne Sutton looked at the butler and asked, ”In the future... can I not see Nathan anymore?”

The butler was taken aback by her words. He remembered that Anne Sutton was Ian’s mother, yet to this day, she still didn’t even know.

For a moment, the butler didn’t know how to answer her question.

After some deliberation, he said, ”I suppose you still can. It’s just that Mr. Fawcett will be in Veridia, which is a bit far, so he won’t be able to come to you immediately if something happens.”

Anne Sutton said, ”As long as I can still see him, that’s all that matters.”

The butler looked at Anne Sutton and sighed helplessly.

’I really can’t figure out what she and my master are thinking anymore.’

...

After signing everything, Anne Sutton went out with the butler to meet Chairman Grant, who helped her handle the process of inheriting the shares.

The procedures were all quite complicated.

So she was busy for the entire afternoon and couldn’t even go home that evening.

Looking at the darkening sky outside, Anne Sutton felt a headache coming on. ’Nathan Fawcett is leaving tomorrow, and I wanted to go see him!’

...

Charles Prescott was also at the company. Grace was in his office, saying, ”President Sutton called you again today about his company’s situation. He was asking if you could add a little more money to the offer.”

Hearing about Sean Sutton, Charles Prescott asked, ”What did you say?”

”I just rejected him like you said. Didn’t you say the price was non-negotiable?”

That was what Charles Prescott had thought before, but now...

He lifted his head and glanced at the lights that were still on across the way. ”Anne Sutton is still over there, isn’t she?”

Grace replied, ”She is! She has a lot to handle right now, and Chairman Grant is with her! Mr. Fawcett is so generous. For a divorce, he gave her absolutely everything.”

Before, they had only heard that Nathan Fawcett was a terrifying person. When people talked about Anne Sutton marrying him for money, everyone looked down on her a little.

Now it seemed everyone had been too shallow!

’Nathan Fawcett must really love her!’

’Otherwise, how could he bear to give her so much?’

Now, Anne Sutton had suddenly become the master of the Fawcett Group!

It was completely different from before!

In the past, she had to be mindful of Nathan Fawcett’s moods, but once divorced, she wouldn’t have to worry about a thing.

The Fawcett Group had already made an official announcement. It was all over the news by now, and she had instantly become the object of everyone’s envy!

...

Sean Sutton drove home. The thought of how Charles Prescott was dead set on making him sell his company for cheap, ignoring all his pleas, made him furious.

He walked through the door. Yvonne Evans and the others were home.

”Dad, you’re back!” Yvonne Evans said.

Sean Sutton was completely listless, so worn down by his company’s problems that he had no energy left. He had even started imagining what would happen after he went bankrupt.

If that happened, he would really go to jail!

Was he really going to spend the rest of his life in prison?

Or... should he just listen to Charles Prescott and sell the company?

But he was so unwilling to accept it!

Seeing him so preoccupied, Yvonne Evans said, ”Dad, come look at this.”

Sean Sutton walked over. ”Look at what?”

Yvonne Evans pulled him down to sit and showed him the news.

Sean Sutton stared at the news. When he saw that Anne Sutton had inherited everything from the Fawcett Family and become the chairman of the Fawcett Group, his eyes widened. ”Is this real?”

His head had been spinning for the past two days. He only knew that Charles Prescott and the others were busy with meetings; he had no idea about this.

”It’s real!” Yvonne Evans said. ”It was posted on their official social media account. At first, I thought I was seeing things! I can’t believe Anne Sutton is now the chairman of the Fawcett Group!”

She was starting to get jealous!

’How could Anne Sutton be so lucky?’

Sean Sutton held the phone, staring at the news. Anne Sutton had told him before that she would one day inherit the Fawcett family’s fortune, but back then, he couldn’t even imagine it.

He thought, ’She’s just a woman, why would they just hand everything over to her for no reason? And Nathan Fawcett isn’t an easy person to deal with!’

Only now did he realize he was the fool all along!
