Daddy Always Gets Jealous

Huo Jinnan stayed silent.

Rong’s mother quickly moved to the side.

Huo Jinnan passed her, gently pulling the door open, and went straight into the ward.

After a glance, Rong’s mother quickly walked away.

Huo Jinnan looked back, closed the door, and his gaze fell on Che Huan on the sickbed, a layer of inscrutable mist gathering in his eyes.

After watching for a while, he walked over, placed his hand on Che Huan’s forehead, left it there for a moment, then removed it. He looked down at the little guy sleeping on the sickbed, smoothed the bedsheet nearby, sat there, lit a cigarette, and quietly smoked it while looking up at the medicine bottle on the IV stand.

...

Huo Bei waited at the door of the ward for a whole hour before he saw the master come out. Without saying a word, he followed him toward the direction of the elevators.

Huo Jinnan asked casually, ”How is Gu Jizhou’s situation being handled?”

Following him into the elevator, Huo Bei pressed the button for the first floor, ”The old man hasn’t said anything, but the eldest young miss has been using the old man’s connections to make arrangements secretly. I believe the surface issues will be resolved soon.”

Inside the elevator, Huo Jinnan looked solemn. When it came to Gu Jizhou’s affairs, Grandfather always turned a blind eye.

Huo Bei tried to speak several times but swallowed his words, finally changing the subject, ”Recently, the old man has also been investigating the master.”

Huo Jinnan lit another cigarette, ”Which day is the Dragon Boat Festival?”

Why would the master suddenly ask about the Dragon Boat Festival?

Huo Bei was surprised, ”The 9th, in one week’s time.”

Huo Jinnan looked at his cigarette, tapped the ash into his palm, ”Leave that day’s schedule open, remind me.”

”Yes, master.”

Huo Bei glanced in the master’s direction. Didn’t the master always visit Dongling on this day? The master also wouldn’t normally instruct him to keep an entire day’s schedule free.

Could it be that there was a different plan for this year’s Dragon Boat Festival?

The next day, Che Huan woke up and her gaze unintentionally fell on the trash bin at the head of the bed. She noticed the messy, scattered ash and a few cigarette butts, furrowing her brows slightly.

On entering and seeing this, Rong’s mother quickly averted her eyes. These cigarette butts were probably left by the master, weren’t they?

She said softly, ”The doctor asked Uncle Lu to keep watch here last night. It might have been tough in the night. He smoked a few cigarettes to stay awake. Miss Che shouldn’t mind.”

Che Huan smiled apologetically, ”Why would I mind?”

Rong’s mother placed the breakfast to the side, glanced at the little guy still sleeping soundly there, and wondered whether to wake him up.

Che Huan looked over and gently called out, ”Little Hanhan, it’s time to get up for breakfast.”

The little guy woke up in a daze, his brow furrowed, but when he saw Che Huan, his frown immediately relaxed. He rubbed his eyes and uttered a groggy ”hmm,” stretched his arms, took a piece of tissue, wiped his face, and was about to toss it into the trash when he suddenly saw the cigarette butts inside!

He recognized them. They were Huo Jinnan’s cigarettes!

When did Huo Jinnan come to the hospital?

He looked at Rong’s mother suspiciously, already mostly awake.

Rong’s mother realized and glanced at Che Huan, ”Young master, I’ll go and get the hot water ready for you to wash.”

The little guy uttered a ”hmm” and followed her out, closing the door quickly with his small hand and lowering his voice as he looked at Rong’s mother, ”What did he come for?”

Rong’s mother lowered her head, ”The master came to check on the young master.”

The little guy stood there, staring strangely at Rong’s mother, ”When did he come?”

Rong’s mother didn’t dare to look at the young master. The young master was young but clever, and she feared she couldn’t deceive him with any wrong words, ”In the middle of the night, the young master was asleep, the master just looked for a moment and then left.”
