Daddy Always Gets Jealous

Huo Bei replied affirmatively, ”It’s all cleaned up, the young master won’t see anything.”

Huo Jinnan’s gaze deepened a notch as he looked down at the Regiment Commander leaning against him. His clearly defined large hand gently stroked it and he said softly, ”Go and see her.”

The Regiment Commander barked once and wagged its tail.

Huo Jinnan looked up at Huo Bei.

Huo Bei inwardly gasped, said nothing, took the Regiment Commander, and brought it to Che Huan’s place.

Che Huan heard a knock on the door, and as she opened it, a fluffy thing threw itself into her arms.

Seeing the Regiment Commander’s big head, she held it in her embrace and was suddenly moved to tears.

The Regiment Commander whined, nudging her hand with its mouth and looking at the red slap mark on her face, it barked twice.

Che Huan understood, touched her cheek, and wiped away her tears, ”It doesn’t hurt anymore.”

”Woof, woof!”

The Regiment Commander barked twice more with a fierce expression.

Che Huan saw the Regiment Commander’s angry look and rubbed its head, ”You’ve had me so worried, where have you been these past few days?”

The Regiment Commander didn’t make a sound, sat down majestically to one side, indicating it was fine.

Che Huan carefully checked it over to make sure it wasn’t injured before breathing a sigh of relief, ”I’m sorry, Regiment Commander, I won’t leave you alone at home again.”

The Regiment Commander went over and licked Che Huan’s hand.

Che Huan embraced the Regiment Commander again and wiped her tears before hurriedly closing the door.

The Regiment Commander, wagging its tail, familiarly made its rounds through the room, the balcony, and the bathroom like it was inspecting the place, not detecting any unfamiliar scents. It glanced at Che Huan then jumped into the bedroom and occupied most of the bed.

Observing its behavior, laden with the air of a sleuth, Che Huan couldn’t help but chuckle, ”Are you here to catch a cheater?”

She sat down, continually stroking the Regiment Commander’s head and, for a moment, the gloom of the past days seemed to sweep away.

The Regiment Commander nestled in Che Huan’s arms, sniffing her scent and comfortably closed its eyes.

Che Huan sat for a while, then suddenly returned to her senses and quickly picked up her phone to call Huo Bei, exclaiming excitedly, ”Huo Bei, the Regiment Commander is back!”

Huo Bei had gotten into the car and spoke calmly, ”It’s good it’s back; I’ll inform the sir.”

Che Huan looked at the Regiment Commander with slight concern, thinking about the guilt of leaving it alone for seven days. She bit her lip, her voice a lot quieter, ”Could you maybe come to pick up the Regiment Commander in a few days?”

”I’ll call Che Miss back after I ask the sir’s opinion, alright?”

”Huo Bei, thank you,” she said.

...

Che Huan had been caring for the Regiment Commander for several days; it was quite expensive. In just a few days, she had spent all the money she had borrowed from Qiao Qiao, and the funds had run dry. She thought about calling Huo Bei to take the Regiment Commander back but hesitated upon connecting. Recalling how she had insisted on keeping it for a few more days, she only managed to ask cautiously, ”Do you know when Mr. Huo will be back?”

”There’s a bit of an issue; he probably won’t return until the end of the month.”

”Oh, I see.” Che Huan felt uncomfortable bringing up the Regiment Commander and hung up the phone. She looked down at it, lifting up her flattened wallet, ”It’s thin again.”

The Regiment Commander turned a blind eye and threw its paws in feigned distress.

When they went to choose dog food that evening, it deliberately picked out one that was two price levels lower.

Che Huan couldn’t bear to see the Regiment Commander like this. After all, it had saved her and acted as her bodyguard, devoted and diligent. Worried that it might have issues if it’s not fed as it’s used to, she reached for the most expensive bag and went to pay with her credit card.
