High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1185: Chapter 247 Choices

Li Meng’s shoulder was slung with a pink ladies’ handbag, not holding her fluffy teddy bear, as she quietly crossed the small plaza in front of the Book Mountain Library, sneaking off towards the grove behind the square.

Not far behind that grove was Lin Zhong Lake.

There were many magical creatures near the lakeside forest that posed a danger to Li Meng.

Zheng Qing poked his head out, watching the back of the Little Witch with some indecision—whether to continue sitting in the library with an unsettled mind, waiting for the witch who seemed to never arrive, or to make a trip to the copse to retrieve the escaped Little Witch.

Indeed, Zheng Qing was willing to bet a jade coin that Li Meng had slipped away while Jiang Yu was not paying attention.

Under normal circumstances, during this time, student Li Meng should be completing her homework under the supervision of Jiang Yu—if the homework was done, Jiang Yu would also assign some extra tasks for her to practice—not carrying a bag to adventure in the small forest.

Especially late at night, when the Little Witch was unguarded.

Especially since the Faceless Monster that murdered the Little White Cat was still hiding in some corner of the school. Jiang Yu, who had been tracking the killer for more than half a year, would definitely not make a mistake in such a small matter.

Thinking of the Faceless Monster, Zheng Qing finally could no longer sit still.

He did not want to see news on the front page of tomorrow’s Campus Newspaper about some careless Little Spirit Witch losing her life in the Lakeside Forest. That would indeed be terrible.

The young, cost student put away the ”Philosophy of Magic” he had flipped open for a long time but hadn’t read a word of, facedown on the desk, then touched the gray small cloth bag hanging on his belt, feeling slightly more confident.

He took out his pocket watch to check the time.

8:35 PM.

The Warlock stood up and walked towards the exit of the library. It was the peak period for night-time study, and the library was filled with students quietly doing their homework. His hasty footsteps disturbed many conscientious pupils, attracting many dissatisfied glances.

Bowing his head, he walked swiftly until he reached the outside of the library, where he finally took a quiet breath of the cool air outside.

Lifting his head and looking around to confirm the direction where Li Meng had disappeared, the Warlock stepped forward to follow.

...

...

”Sepulano wouldn’t want to make an enemy of me over such a trifling matter.”

Korma, brimming with confidence, turned to Andrew Taylor beside him and said in a lowered voice, ”Each rector, from Lei Zhe to Augustus, besides gaining internal recognition, also needs to obtain external support. At First University, external support is divided into three categories: the Professor Assembly, the Student Council, and the hunting teams from the New World.”

”Although the Professor Assembly has the most power, it tends to be the most lenient when dealing with student affairs; every member publicly recommended within a society can gain the signing support of the Professor Assembly.”

”Let’s assume Sepulano has secured this vote.”

”But for the hunting teams in the New World, I bet that no one would support a newcomer like Sepulano.”

Andrew Taylor listened to Korma’s analysis, silently and without comment. Indeed, for a self-made wizard like Sepulano at this time, it was nearly impossible to gain the support of those hunting teams.

The Blood Comrades and the Sacred Will had been established for a very long time.

Over the lengthy span of their histories, a multitude of wizards had emerged from these two student societies, including a countless number of high-level wizards. Some of them occupied many key positions within the Mage Alliance; while the vast majority would join the pioneering hunting teams of the two societies in the New World.

Bloodline bonds mixed with worldliness created a vast network between the distant hunting teams and the school’s societies, with each new Lei Zhe or Augustus serving as critical nodes in maintaining this network.

Because of Friedman’s bloodline and the title of Under the Moon nobility, he was naturally part of this network, and quite close to its center. In comparison, Sepulano was much less favorable.

Although he also came from a wizard family, his starting point was too low. From his very first day in Alpha Castle, this robustly built Fat Wizard was an existence on the very fringes of the network, which was also the most direct reason for his eventual choice to create the Auspicious Association.

Better to reign as a rooster than serve as a phoenix’s tail; this was the creed of people like him. Moreover, the current Auspicious Association was no ordinary rooster’s head but a splendid pheasant’s.

”If Sepulano supports me on this matter today, then in the next student council vote, Sepulano will have secured one confirmed vote of support.”

”Trust me, for this matter, every confirmed vote of support is extremely precious to him.”

Andrew Taylor’s lips moved a little, as if he was tempted, but he still didn’t speak.

The Witch narrowed her eyes behind her mask; she felt that the first-year chubby student before her had already agreed in his heart, just hadn’t thought of an excuse yet. So she decided to send Andrew a ladder.

”The Wandering Wizard just mentioned that his shop has newly acquired two ’Zhuobokabras,’ a male and a female,” the Witch reminded him with a casual tone: ”Perhaps you could ask Sepulano if he is interested in them.”

Zhuobokabra was a rare species of Vampire-like creature with a kangaroo’s body and bat’s wings, covered in spikes, currently only found in a few regions of Puerto Rico, Texas, Mexico, and Chile.

To true members of the Blood Race, Zhuobokabra was a filthy hybrid, but for other Under the Moon nobles who liked to humiliate the Blood Race, such as Werewolves, Zhuobokabras were quite adorable pets.

Because they could openly place these little bloodsucking creatures in glass terrariums, introducing their origins to every visitor—after all, it’s uncertain if there really was a Vampire in history who defied cold-blooded taboos and broke the reproductive isolation between the Blood Race and kangaroos.

At every Werewolf gathering, these rough sons of the forest would eagerly discuss the sordid histories of the Blood Race, and this was something every single Vampire deeply detested.

Andrew Taylor believed that if at the next family gathering or within an Auspicious Association meeting, if he brought out such a pair of Zhuobokabras, it would certainly elevate the atmosphere of the event to a climax, providing endless enjoyment, perhaps even surpassing that of the poor Vampire who had once suffered from Dragon Pox syphilis.

With this thought, he drew a gentle breath and finally made up his mind.

”I need to consult with the president.” The first-year Werewolf squared his shoulders, trying to look mature: ”I will convey your opinions in full... It would be even better if you would tell me your name.”

The Witch’s expression didn’t change because she wore a mask.

But her eyes already showed a satisfied smile.

”Korma,” she seemed not to mind the other few wizards in the room overhearing her name: ”Tell Sepulano, I am Korma.”

Behind the bar, the Wandering Wizard sighed deeply.

He felt that inviting Korma today had been a mistake.
