High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1170: Chapter 232: Second Secret Realm Exploration

Although they had made thorough preparations, Zheng Qing and the others had still finished their practice class without any issues.

Due to Mr. Hilda Tang Alfonso watching the students from both academies the entire class, anyone who made even a slight move beyond the red line would be singled out and publicly practiced with fifteen Soft Leg Curses.

Zhang Ji Xin and Andrew Taylor ended up paralyzed for most of the class because their tempers were too hot. By the time class was over, it was Zheng Qing and the others who supported them as they left Green Valley.

Meanwhile, Ms. Bella, the head nurse stationed at the edge of Green Valley, turned a blind eye to this suspected ”corporal punishment.” On the contrary, she had even enthusiastically suggested safer punitive spells to Assistant Hilda.

Zheng Qing had merely pondered briefly before realizing the logic behind the actions of the head nurse. Due to the increasingly frequent conflicts between the two academies, the medical staff at the school hospital had been working overtime for a long period. He heard that the students from both academies currently in the hospital no longer received care from sprites and even had to administer their own medication.

The last academy to enjoy this treatment was from the 2007 cohort of Starry Sky Academy. It was said that the cohort recruited that year had exceptionally hot tempers, and the hospitalization rate had increased by a full half.

Of course, these peripheral news items were just glanced at and ignored by Zheng Qing. Even after hearing rumors that Zhang Ji Xin was having trouble urinating due to the Soft Leg Curse, it did not stir up more gossip from him.

He had more important matters to attend to.

The practice class was on Friday, and the following day was Saturday.

It was time again for him, Elena, and Sister Korma to explore the small Secret Realm.

As before, at six in the morning, when his roommates were still deep asleep, Zheng Qing had already transformed into a black cat and slipped into the Silent Forest.

Different from last time, this time, the two witches had entered the Secret Realm before him.

”To be honest, I hesitated about coming out today,” the black cat started complaining the moment it saw the witches, ”I glanced at the Old Almanac before leaving. ’Not suitable for any affairs,’ do you know? Today it advises against doing anything... The last time I went out on such a day, I fell on the curb and broke a front tooth! And someone even stole my wallet!”

”What is a curb?” Elena asked curiously, lifting her head. Although Zheng Qing couldn’t make out her expression due to the white mask, he could see the curiosity in the eyes behind her mask.

Compared to him, Sister Korma was quite perceptive.

”A cat has front teeth?” She asked teasingly, casting a seductive glance at the cat standing stiffly on a stone, seemingly sizing up its broken tooth.

The black cat felt greatly annoyed inside.

It had always emphasized to the witches that it was a real cat that could speak due to experiencing some strange events. Although he knew this explanation wasn’t very persuasive, it served as a pretense.

Now, even that pretense had been ruined by itself.

With this unpleasant mood, the black cat looked sternly at the work at the witches’ hands. They were organizing the base, creating an environment more conducive to the flow of magic power for building a magic circle.

”Is this... a magic circle from Starry Sky Academy?” the black cat tilted its head, staring at the base for a long while. It felt that the interlocking triangles looked familiar, and it took a moment to realize it was the base of a Hexagram-shaped magic circle.

It is well-known that the emblem of the First University’s Starry Sky Academy features the pattern of a Hexagram.

”This doesn’t sound like something a sensible wizard would say.” Sister Korma thoughtfully glanced at the black cat again, ”The symbol of Starry Sky Academy is the hexagram, but the hexagram does not represent the Starry Sky Academy... In mysticism, it has many meanings.”

The black cat resisted the urge to tape its mouth shut multiple times.

However, it couldn’t ignore the witch’s questioning.

”Oh, because this is the First University, it’s inevitable that people would make that association,” the black cat said hastily, trying its best to sound casual, ”After all, on this island, the group that uses the hexagram the most is the Starry Sky Academy.”

Although this explanation seemed a bit far-fetched, it wasn’t unreasonable.

Most of the witches’ attention was focused on the magic circle in front of them, and they reluctantly accepted the black cat’s explanation.

”Excuse me, could you pass me that jar of graphite powder, thank you,” Elena suddenly looked up and instructed the black cat, who was doing nothing yet wandering around: ”The jar isn’t insulated with an Array, be careful, hold it with your pads, don’t let it stick to your fur. It’s explosive.”

In the end, she added, ”We didn’t bring any sprites today.”

That was a terrible statement.

”I am a cat!” The black cat’s eyes widened, and it repeated in an incredulous tone, ”A cat!! Have you degenerated to such an extent that you need to exploit a cat’s labor!”

”We wouldn’t sign a Silence Contract with just a cat,” Korma calmly corrected, ”So, you’re not a cat. At least not in our eyes.”

The black cat raised its paw, looked at the tender pad in its palm, and fell into silence.

After a moment.

A black cat stood upright and walked on two legs, its paws carefully holding a human head-sized clay jar, cautiously tucking in its whiskers for fear that any magic power from its fur might enter the jar and blow it to smithereens.

The black cat’s tail acted like a flexible balancing rod, swaying behind it.

”Make way in front, make way; I can’t see, I can’t see!” The black cat shrieked frantically, shuffling forward with the jar, its eyes growing wider as its pupils narrowed.

Just as its paws were about to step on the base of the magic circle.

Elena, who had been drawing the circle with her back to it, didn’t turn her head, her hand in dragon-skin gloves reached backward and grabbed the ear of the jar, pulling it into her hand. At the same time, her pinky flicked slightly, tapping the black cat’s nose and stopping it from taking the final step.

The black cat was knocked onto its buttocks by that tap, sitting on the ground, touching its nose, tears welling up.

”Thank you.” The witch finally turned around and thanked him gently.

”Not filial, not filial,” the black cat murmured in a nasal voice, touching its nose, wanting to kick the witch, feeling it wasn’t quite appropriate yet doing nothing seemed off-brand for the cat identity.

”Your tolerance for No Face seems to be much higher than mine,” Korma noted as a witch, easily picking up on certain details and sizing up the black cat with a vacant stare, ”Could it be that you know her?”

The black cat felt the fur on its tail bristle.
