High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1179: Chapter 241 Difficult Choice

The night was like mist, enveloping the entire garden.

Elena spread her arms wide as if merely stretching languidly, yet it also seemed as if she were embracing the entire sky.

”Is it worth it?” Jiang Yu gazed into those lustrous eyes across from her; her face showed no annoyance but quietly repeated her question. Her question was vague, yet clear.

Is it worth it? To pay so much for a hint of uncertainty.

Is it worth it? To give up so much for others.

The Gypsy witch took a deep breath and bit by bit swallowed back the icy breath within her: ”For myself, it is naturally not worth it. But what can be done? I cannot live only for myself.”

Having said this, she turned her head to look toward the tranquil little pond and softly chanted:

”In the morning, I cast my net into the sea.”

”I pull out strangely beautiful things from the dark abyss—some shine with a smile-like glow, some sparkle like tears. Some blush like the cheeks of a bride.”

”Some people teem with tears during the day, while others hide their tears in the dark.”

”They all need me; I have no time to meditate on the next life.”

Jiang Yu watched her profile in silence for a long time.

”Daytime has passed, and now it is night,” she pondered slowly and responded, ”Sleep, like a bud, is about to open its chest to the light; silence will eventually make a sound, and the burden will be rewarded.”

The Gypsy witch paused, a slow smile spreading across her face.

She turned back, lifting her skirt with both hands, and curtsied slightly to Jiang Yu: ”What kind of compensation would you like?”

Jiang Yu took a gentle breath.

”I will discuss this matter with Xiao Meng, and it must have her consent.”

”The details of the agreement, I will give to you on Tuesday night, it won’t delay your time.”

The implication was that even if Li Meng did not agree, and the deal fell through, Elena would still have some reaction time. She wouldn’t be flustered when the critical moment arrived.

The Gypsy witch nodded heavily, her face breaking into a radiant smile:

”No problem!”

A sense of regret suddenly rose in Jiang Yu’s heart; she felt she had agreed too impulsively. She quickly cut out an untimely piece from the memory of their recent conversation and immediately added: ”This is not a deal!”

This was also something the Gypsy witch had just said.

Elena’s mouth curved up: ”I know.”

Jiang Yu felt somewhat short of breath and couldn’t help but remind her: ”Some people look like children, yet they already have children of their own.”

Elena paused for a moment, thoughtfully responding: ”Some people, smelling roses, yet have a cat living in their heart.”

They did not specify the subject of their conversation, but this did not affect the exchange of information between the two clever witches at all.

The two witches parted on friendly terms.

Before leaving, Jiang Yu finally remembered a question that had puzzled her for a long time and asked: ”Why didn’t you ask the Elders of the Gypsy Witch Coven for the Spirit Witch Blood?”

Although the scale of The Gypsy Witch Coven had diminished, their long history still bestowed upon them a profound heritage. Even without considering the reserves of Spirit Witch Blood, as the largest group of spiritual mediums in Europa, there should still be some living Spirit Witches within the coven.

On this point, Jiang Yu was very certain. A few years ago, when Li Meng was confirmed to possess the physique of a Spirit Witch, the Zhongshan Jiang Family and Li family had once invited Gypsy Spirit Witches to impart their experiences to Li Meng.

Elena did not shy away from this issue, ”Decline is a long process. There are many elder Spirit Witches in the coven, but as for the younger Spirit Witches, Li Meng is the only one I can access at present.”

”Experienced Spirit Witches may be slightly superior in experience, but their sensitivity and vitality of the spiritual energy in their blood are far from sufficient. The magic circle we are preparing, precisely requires the latter two elements.”

This reason was very sufficient.

Jiang Yu nodded in understanding and bid farewell to Elena once again.

The Gypsy Witch, with her back to Jiang Yu, waved her hand. In front of her was a small, tranquil pool of water, whose reflection in her eyes rippled slightly.

She took a step forward, her shoe soles stained with mud and damp, as if the next moment, she was about to submerge into the shallow pool.

...

...

When Jiang Yu left the small garden, he just happened to see Matthew Karen coming out of the building entrance.

The two nodded slightly to each other, passing by without stopping.

The Witch faintly remembered that last semester, there had been rumors about a romantic connection between Matthew and Elena, which peaked when Elena joined Matthew’s Hunting Team during the new student competition.

But rumors were called rumors because they completely contradicted reality. As rumors of Zheng Qing and Elena being frequently seen together on Pedestrian Street or reading in the library spread, those gossiping voices within the academy gradually faded.

If she told Karen that Elena was in that small garden, feeling quite down, would it help the two of them? Thinking this, the Witch slightly shook her head, dismissing the thought and shaking out those little-known ideas from her mind as well.

Unlike the Witch lost in fanciful thoughts,

The only thought echoing in Matthew Karen’s mind at this moment was—Jiuyou or Alpha?

Jiuyou or Alpha, that is a question.

From his first day at First University, the young Vampire had been troubled by this question. At first, the school environment was quite calm, and all the troubles were just his own private struggles.

As the conflicts between the two academies gradually arose, after experiencing last year’s Moon Hunting incident, this year’s Chaos at the Fishman Tribe, and the wars of words and conflicts between newspapers and student societies, Matthew increasingly felt he was facing greater external pressure.

Admittedly, Matthew Karen was now a student of Jiuyou Academy, however, from the perspective of bloodline and tradition, he was actually more suited for Alpha Academy. Joining Jiuyou Academy was, in fact, some unnoticed compromise between his family and the school—Matthew himself knew this, and so did some students’ societies familiar with the history.

But from another perspective, Matthew was also a nobleman of Under the Moon, filled with a sense of honor, and wherever he was positioned, he should express enough loyalty to that place—this sense of honor was engraved deep within his blood.

Thus, every morning when he got up, apart from having to resist his loathing for sunlight, Matthew also had to bear the pressure that his bright red long robe brought him.

Especially this semester, especially in these recent weeks.

As he walked around the campus, he always seemed to feel those elusive, scrutinizing gazes around him. Those glances seemed to ask, ”Hey, when are you leaving the academy?!”

Those glances particularly irritated the young Vampire.

But that wasn’t what worried him most.

What Matthew was most worried about was his cousin at Alpha Academy, who, one behalf of their Family, demanded him to abandon Jiuyou Academy. Whenever he thought about having to make a decision between honor and honor, loyalty and loyalty, the young Vampire wanted to pull out his sharp fangs.

Today, it seemed he was about to face such a dilemma.

Before the afternoon meeting, Sir Friedman had sent him a message, asking him to meet in the relaxation room at Alpha Fortress after the meeting.
