Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 1052: Chapter 1053: I’m Settling in This House

”I think that foolish boy simply lacks a brain, who finds a partner in the countryside?” Kuang Hong glanced at the spilled porridge on the floor and scoffed, ”He’s really brought shame to the Meng Family! Go! Sweep the floor clean!”

Her latter remark was directed at Chiang Xiao, whom she ordered with a scolding tone.

Chiang Xiao stepped forward, raised her hand, and with a slap, her palm struck Kuang Hong’s face.

When she struck, her strength was not insignificant.

Kuang Hong was hit so hard that she fell to the ground, landing right in the spilled porridge.

Instantly, grains of rice and porridge smeared all over her body.

Everyone was too shocked to react until Kuang Hong let out a shrill scream, tried to get up, but slipped in the porridge and fell down again. That’s when they snapped out of it.

”You country bumpkin, you actually dare to hit me?” Kuang Hong sat on the floor, looking a mess, pointing at Chiang Xiao with eyes reddening as she yelled at her husband, ”Feian! Call the security over! I want to see who gave this country bumpkin the nerve!”

”You think a slap can compensate for spilling my porridge? I want to see today who gave you the gall to ruin my porridge!”

”Your porridge? Duan Qingqing, let’s get something clear, this is my home, my kitchen, my rice!” Duan Qingqing was helping Kuang Hong up while raging, ”I didn’t want to fuss over this with you, but this is really too much! Does Xinian know you’re like this? This is my sister-in-law, and also Xinian’s elder! And you dare to hit her, doesn’t your family teach you any manners or shame?”

Chiang Xiao sneered.

”Well, my family never taught me that the person who strikes first has no problems, and the one who retaliates is the one without manners or shame. That’s a shameless idea. Duan Qingqing, I’ll say this on behalf of Meng Xinian: he doesn’t even recognize you as an elder, let alone your sister-in-law. Also, this isn’t just your home, it’s also Xinian’s home, and accordingly, it’s my home too. That’s my kitchen and my rice too! Let me tell you one more thing, I’m really settling into this house!”

Duan Qingqing was so infuriated that she trembled all over.

She suddenly realized that Meng Chaojun wasn’t by her side, no one was there for her to perform to, and she felt somewhat at a loss!

Now who would see her grievances, who would stand up for her?

Kuang Feian? He couldn’t possibly summon the estate’s security! Her sister-in-law truly lost her head in her rage!

Old Man Meng had only fallen asleep in the early hours of the morning and was woken up by the noise in the living room. He put on an overcoat and came out to see, his face immediately darkening.

”What’s going on here!” he bellowed sternly.

Tears immediately fell from Duan Qingqing’s eyes.

”Dad, I stayed up all night taking care of Chaojun, and I get this kind of treatment when I come back?” After all, she had spent the entire night by Meng Chaojun’s side, so Old Man Meng must now see her true care and affection for Meng Chaojun, right?

That night, where were Meng Xinian and Chiang Xiao?

In times of real trouble, wasn’t it her they could rely on?

It was about time Old Man Meng recognized reality! When he gets too old to move, wouldn’t he have to depend on her?

He just never sees the truth!

”Who told you to come back?” Old Meng immediately scolded her, ”I haven’t gone to relieve you yet, and you’ve already returned. What’s to be done about Chaojun?”

Duan Qingqing was taken aback, and said with a sense of injustice, ”Didn’t I have to come back to cook something to take to Chaojun? I left in such a hurry last night, I didn’t bring anything, and I still need to pack a few clothes for him.”

”Pack what rubbish! Can’t I bring it with me later? Cook porridge? With your cooking skills, even dogs would snub it! Little can cook!”
