Chapter 48: Chapter 48: You are quite good indeed

Chapter Forty-Eight: You’re Actually Pretty Nice

...

When Zhang Beixing heard someone calling him, he snapped back to reality, excitedly thinking that someone was finally taking up his offer.

However, once he looked up and saw that it was Chen Rourou who was calling him, he was momentarily stunned.

I didn’t even look for her, and she actually dared to approach me? Interesting.

She’s asking for a beating!

So, he stood up, dusted the dirt off his hands, and glared at her, ”Yo, isn’t this Campus Belle Chen? What do you want from me? Or are you still not satisfied with what happened yesterday?”

Seeing Zhang Beixing’s towering and intimidating height, as well as his arrogant tone, Chen Rourou swallowed hard, subconsciously wanting to run.

But then, catching a glimpse of Xin Xin out of the corner of her eye, she forced down that urge.

She handed out the milk tea she was holding with trembling hands, squeezing out a smile on her face uglier than crying, ”No... nothing much, I just saw you’ve been exercising here for so long, you must be tired. I bought you a milk tea to help you replenish your energy.”

Zhang Beixing was somewhat surprised to see her like this.

He had thought that after his words in the male dorm spread yesterday, Chen Rourou would hold a grudge against him.

But instead of bearing a grudge, she actually brought him a milk tea.

This...

”Not bad, quite sensible! Looks like you’ve learned your lesson,” he commented.

”Since that’s the case, I won’t be polite then!”

Smiling, Zhang Beixing took the milk tea, inserted the straw, and started to drink.

Seeing him like this, Chen Rourou breathed a sigh of relief, then she also held her milk tea and drank silently.

The world quieted down.

Apart from the slurping sound of drinking milk tea, there were no other noises.

Until a final, loud SLURP announced that Zhang Beixing had drained his cup.

Hearing this, Chen Rourou cautiously glanced at Zhang Beixing, then noticed the sign next to him, and said to Zhang Beixing, ”Beixing, are you doing part-time work here?”

”Right,” Zhang Beixing nodded. After slurping a couple of times, realizing nothing was left, he tossed the empty cup onto Lin Siqi’s cart and then turned to look at Chen Rourou, ”You’ve behaved quite well today, I’m pleased. So tell me, what’s the real reason behind all this attentiveness?”

”Ulterior motive? No, no, no, I wouldn’t dare have any,” Chen Rourou’s head shook like a bobblehead as she put on a timid expression and said, ”I was just curious how did you develop such martial arts skills, have you been training in martial arts since you were young?”

”It wasn’t that, I just happened to come across it by chance. Why, are you interested in martial arts too?” Zhang Beixing raised an eyebrow and asked.

If he remembered correctly, the day before yesterday, Chen Rourou was still claiming on the internet that Karate was the strongest.

But now...

At Zhang Beixing’s words, Chen Rourou sighed, her expression turned quite resentful, ”What if I’m interested? It’s still a matter of ’it’s passed down to men, not women’. If only...”

She paused, a look of dejection flashing in her eyes.

”Stop, stop, stop, enough, I don’t want to hear your sad story. Did you come here today just to ask me about this?”

Chen Rourou hadn’t even opened her mouth when Zhang Beixing cut her off with a wave of his hand.

Are you kidding me? Anyone could tell from that complicated look on her face that her past must be full of twists and turns.

Zhang Beixing still had to train, and he didn’t have the leisure to listen to Chen Rourou’s life story.

And seeing Zhang Beixing react this way, Chen Rourou’s carefully composed emotions instantly shattered. The corners of her mouth twitched wildly, the frustration of unspoken words nearly choking her.

After some thought, Chen Rourou looked at Zhang Beixing with lowered eyes, timidly and cautiously probing, ”I behaved pretty well today, didn’t I? You’re not going to beat me up, are you?”

To this, Zhang Beixing was nonchalant, ”Not bad, but it depends on how you behave in the future.”

With that said, Zhang Beixing straightened the weights on his body and asked, ”So, is there anything else? If not, I’m going to continue training.”

”No... nothing. Sorry for bothering you,” Chen Rourou said with a dejected expression, then stood up, ready to leave.

Just then, Zhang Beixing suddenly called out to Chen Rourou.

”Wait.”

Chen Rourou’s heart tightened; she spun around like a startled rabbit, and cautiously asked, ”Wh-wh-what... what is it? I didn’t do anything, you’re not going to beat me up, are you?”

Hearing her words, Zhang Beixing rolled his eyes.

Then he pointed at the milk tea cup on the pushcart and said irritably, ”No, do you take me for some ingrate who eats his fill and then curses the one who fed him? I just wanted you to throw out the trash on your way. Can’t just leave this empty cup lying around, can we?”

”Ah? Is that it? Wow, you’re actually pretty nice.”

Chen Rourou breathed a sigh of relief. As long as he wasn’t going to beat her, it was fine.

Chen Rourou turned back, picked up the milk tea cup from the pushcart. After confirming there wasn’t anything else for her to throw away, she said goodbye and left without looking back.

Seeing her flee in such haste, Zhang Beixing muttered under his breath, ”What a coward.”

Then he lay down and continued to do push-ups.

A moment later, Lin Siqi arrived at the sports field, ready to set up her stall.

But as soon as she entered the field, she saw from a distance that there was an additional wooden sign next to her stall.

Seeing this, Lin Siqi’s face darkened.

She muttered under her breath, ”Which idiot...?”

Then she stormed over, about to burst out in anger, questioning what this meant and why someone had put a sign for *their* stall on her pushcart.

But then she saw Zhang Beixing leaning there, playing with his phone next to her pushcart.

Instantly, her wrath dissipated.

Lin Siqi looked at Zhang Beixing with a weird expression and asked, ”Lao Zhang, why is it you? What are you doing?”

”Setting up a stall!”

Zhang Beixing slapped the wooden sign placed on Lin Siqi’s pushcart, stating the obvious.

Hearing his words, Lin Siqi’s mouth twitched.

Of course, I know you’re setting up a stall.

I’m asking why you’re setting up your stall *on my cart!*

This guy...

”Sigh, never mind, can’t be bothered with you!”

”Let me see what you’re selling.”

Saying this, Lin Siqi looked towards the wooden sign.

After seeing the content on it, her face instantly became as weird as those students’ had been earlier.

Workout buddy?

28 Yuan an hour?

For you?

Lin Siqi gave Zhang Beixing a strange look but, after thinking for a moment, decided not to say anything.

She simply unlocked her cart and began calling out to sell her goods.

Seeing this, Zhang Beixing followed suit, mimicking her actions.

Before long, thanks to Zhang Beixing’s celebrity effect, he successfully landed his first customer since the opening.
